WoW was always meant to be PvE. PvP was an afterthought. For some good old PvP action, we enjoyed N-64 Goldeneye, CS, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, and KI.
Buddy of mine memorized all the spawn points in every map of Goldeneye. Playing splitscreen on multiplayer meant you got to watch yourself spawn/die with proximity mines every fucking where.
The moment Activision made a public announcement about purchasing Blizzard, I stopped playing. Many years later, I've learned I have an acute sense of knowing some shit without even knowing some shit.
