J. Christian Adams was hired during the Bush Administration to work on voting rights issues at the Justice Department. But he resigned earlier this year after the department scaled down a voter-intimidation case. Adams says the decision was based on racial bias and a reticence to prosecute cases when the victims are white. Adams discusses his concerns and his recent testimony before the US Commission on Civil Rights.

I'm Michel Martin and this is TELL ME MORE from NPR News.

 

If you follow news of the legal profession or any of the conservative media outlets, then you've probably heard the nameJ. Christian Adams. He was an attorney in the civil rights division of the Justice Department, but he recently resigned, claiming the department is not living up to its mission to provide equal justice

 

It all started with an incident on Election Day 2008. Two members of the new Black Panther Party showed up at a polling location in Philadelphia in a majority black neighborhood. Now, some people might recognize that group's name. It's in essence a black nationalist fringe group that sometimes shows up at public events wearing military style attire and berets. In Philadelphia they said they were providing security. One of the men was holding a nightstick. A Republican poll watcher who was carrying a camera confronted the two men and recorded the encounter. We'll listen to some of that now.

I remember coming here 4+ years ago, never was it allowed to duplicate the same story thread after thread in notables. We have this thing going on that the notables are clickbait, nothing to dig on just juicy stories of criminals doing their criminal thing. And it happens bread after bread after bread.

 

The Bakers wouldn’t repost a prior post, even if it didn’t get in notables. I’m beginning to think we are becoming a click bait anon collective.

 

Rarely do I see real research! Did you ever think when you’re reading those disgusting stories of low life’s that your actually waking up the world.

 

I’d like to ask the bakers that is a story made it in the notables one time, that’s enough, it doesn’t have to be posted Tom’s after time after time, and the first anon in a thread gets the notable not both of them. Second doesn’t get a prize.

 

I’m speaking out because I’m noticing even comments being removed from posts, and there’s hardly any anon commentary on a post but 4 bots or whatever putting it in notables. I’d rather hear from anons instead of notabling everything.

 

We have work to do and we are not getting to the real work!
