The term Alpha and Omega comes from the phrase "I am the Alpha and the Omega" (Koiné Greek: "ἐγώ εἰμι τὸ Ἄλφα καὶ τὸ Ὦ"), an appellation of Jesus and of the Father in the Book of Revelation (verses 1:8, 21:6, and 22:13). The first part of this phrase ("I am the Alpha and the Omega") is first found in Chapter 1 verse 8 ("1:8"), and is found in every manuscript of Revelation that has 1:8. Several later manuscripts repeat "I am the Alpha and the Omega" in 1:11 too, but do not receive support here from most of the oldest manuscripts, including the Alexandrine, Sinaitic, and Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus. It is, therefore, omitted in some modern translations. Scholar Robert Young stated, with regard to "I am the Alpha and the Omega" in 1:11, the "oldest [manuscripts] omit" it.
A similar reference is in Isaiah 44, where the Lord says to be the first and the one who is after all.

This theory of the Roman origins of many European folk traditions related to Diana or Hecate was explicitly advanced at least as early as 1807 as the Roman equivelant the goddess Libertas. The Statue of Liberty is based on The Roman Goddess Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. Originally as goddess of personal freedom, she later became the goddess of the Roman commonwealth.
Greek equivalent: Ishtar (Babylonian Semiramis) fertility goddess of Easter (pictured on the right) is the Akkadian counterpart to the Sumerian Inanna and to the cognate northwest Semitic goddess `Ashtart. Anunit, Astarte and Atarsamain,The goddess of fertility and sexuality. The Babylonian fertility goddess Ishtar (Easter in English) is portrayed as a trinitarian god with Baal the Sun God/Tammuz the Sun of God/Ishtar the Queen of Heaven… this is where we get the Christian Trinity as incorporated into the "Christian Church" by the sun worshipping emperor Constantine at the Council of Niceae.

But the Shakespeare name only came to prominence after Marlowe’s apparent demise, and he writes like a continuation of Marlowe, the two bodies of work blending so seamlessly at their join that some people wonder whether Marlowe wrote Shakespeare’s too.

At the time of his supposed death, Marlowe was out on bail, facing charges that would have almost certainly ended in his execution. Early that month Marlowe’s former roommate, Thomas Kyd, had been arrested and tortured for his connection with Marlowe; within a year, Kyd was dead. Ask yourself this: Faced with the same circumstances,would you consider faking your death to escape?

Bacardi-owned Dewar’s has unveiled its oldest ever whisky release – a 30-year-old blended Scotch confined to the travel retail sector.
Dewar’s 30-Year-OldNe Plus Ultra(Latin for ‘the ultimate’) revives a label first used by the company in the early 1900s, and traditionally reserved for its oldest and rarest whiskies.
Finished in Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry casks, the whisky will be launched in ‘flagship travel retail locations’ on 1 December, priced at SGD688 (US$484) for a 70cl bottle.
However, Bacardi Global Travel Retail has made nine numbered bottles available this week in a pre-launch to coincide with the fifth DFS Masters of Wines and Spirits retailer event at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Packaged in a wooden presentation casket and carrying a certificate of authenticity signed by master blender Stephanie Macleod, the nine bottles come with a 20cl sample bottle, enabling purchasers to taste the whisky without opening the main bottle.
Ne Plus Ultra features at the DFS T Galleria and in the main DFS store at Changi Terminal 3 until the end of November, retailing at SGD888 (US$625) a bottle.
