She's got two German Shepherds named Tex and Mex. She's been romping around Austin with her new BFF, country singer and Texas favorite Nikki Lane. Her Old Hollywood-style hair has reverted to her natural wavy blonde, hanging over shoulders covered by prairie dresses that look straight out of old Hill Country postcards.
From the outside, it seems Lana Del Rey is giving up her trademark California style. The pop star and even recently released three unexpected, country-inspired tracks (à la Beyonce). It seems Lana — real name Elizabeth Grant — has succumbed to the feelings so many in California have as well: she wants to be a Texan.
Although many of her themes — and her Freudian propensities — remain unchanged in her new music, Del Rey seemed to do what so many others during the pandemic did: abandon old selves.
