Flightaware confirms Santiago as the departure point. Nice catch!
Er, no. It landed at Stanstead and you said North Weald. I count North Weald as the old WW2 airfield, so you are technically wrong. Your guess was better than mine though!
Who said 'North Weald for $500, Alex' then?
Roger, Gungan. Laters!
You mean the Planefag meme ones? I did.
'Perpetual Motion' - The '
Shack' doesn't get enough love. Too many were left rotting away on airfields. I've been to see 'Dougal' at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry.
WR960 - Shackleton AEW2 called 'Dougal' - No.8 Squadron's planes were all named after Magic Roundabout characters, You can just make out Dougal near the cockpit windows.
A better picture of Dougal on WR960.
Expect it to refuel at Fortaleza for the remainder of the journey. That's the usual pattern.
GAF625's flight log saved for reference.
He always looks as though he's about to shit a pineapple or something covered in spikes.
