because the earth is POROUS, with lots of cracks and voids, and while large pockets of oil collect in larger voids, the earth around those voids is still saturated with petroleum. when the petroleum is pumped out of the large void, the oil in the porous earth around the void begins SLOWLY seeping into the large void, refilling it, and making it profitable to pump that field again. that's obvious to anyone with a 5th grade education, provide they don't have their head crammed up their own ass, FUCKWIT!
