Worldwide and through all of history to the present day, Mankind wants more on earth for his life here and beyond here. He appeals to the spirits. He gives them food. Then blood. Then people. Then children. Then his own children. Then his 1st born child. Then his first born son. Then the noblest people's first born sons. Then the Ruler's first born son, the heir. And the only thing that stops that inevitable progress is a sacrifice that can never be rivaled; the Creator God's 1st and only born Son. We remember this final and total sacrifice with Communion. So when mankind forgets his natural state of progression to blood ritual sacrifice, as he will, he carries the message that there never need be another, as Jesus is the final and only ever needed. The professing of acknowledging this sacrifice is being saved from death and given eternal life. Jesus teaches us to love our neighbors and our enemies. When enough of us do, we tend to forget things like the fact that mankind are prone to sacrificing people and it seems out of place, but it isn't. God met mankind where mankind was, is, and can be again. We cannot blame Him for our ideas.
