America is fed a different story than the rest of the world

Ask yourself, why?

Interesting that half the non-US cover stories are fairly explicit narratives on the decline of American hegemony and the rise of competing superpowers / ideologies.

We get highbrow instruction in relishing our anxiety and planning for an end to excess (which for many means a further decline below basic sustenance), while the rest of the world reads up on our unsustainable national debt burden and diminishing geopolitical relevance.

Sure, there is some conspiracy here. But it's the vanilla variety, where we point out that mainstream media caters the headline to accomplish its own objectives.

There's also a sad realization waiting to register: that the primary motivation, being profitable incentive, is more than likely the strategic understanding that readership would fall if Americans are compelled to confront their own decline.
