WHOA! hold up here... everyone needs to get some facts straight here. IDK about pine needle tea or it's medicinal properties (i'll dig on that), but there is a HUGE falsehood lurking here. suramin (see image file) is NOT found in pine needles, or in any other plant. PERIOD. it is a totally synthetic compound that DOES NOT EXIST IN NATURE. it was first synthesized by german chemists in the 1930s. if you do not have access to peer review journals (i do), you can check the wikipedia page on suramin, it is (in this instance) 100% correct at least as far as the structure and origin of suramin is concerned.

ok… follow up… pine needle tea does have a long history of medicinal use in multiple cultures. the primary active medicinal component is shikimic acid (NOT SURAMIN).

let me repeat, THERE IS NO SURAMIN IN PINE NEEDLES OR IN ANY OTHER PLANT. any medicinal chemist worth their salt would tell you this after on glance of the structure of suramin. it is a heavily sulfonated polycyclic aromatic compound. nothing remotely like this occurs in nature. suramin is basically coal tar and battery acid. i can't imagine what medicinal properties might be claimed for it, but i wouldn't give it to a politician, let alone a lab rat.
