Nicole Malliotakis Introduces Bill Prohibiting BLM Flag from Flying over U.S. Embassies

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) has introduced a bill barring United States embassies from flying flags with political messages such as those representing Black Lives Matter (BLM).

According to a Friday press release:

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), today with House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Congressmen Ken Buck (CO-04), Michael Guest (MS-03), Darrell Issa (CA-50), Brian Mast (FL-18), and Pete Sessions (TX-17), introduced the Stars and Stripes Act of 2021, legislation that directs the Secretary of State to restrict the display of certain flags or banners at diplomatic and consular posts around the world. Malliotakis’ bill is in response to Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent directive authorizing and encouraging all U.S. embassies overseas to display ‘Black Lives Matter’ flags and banners.

Blinken reportedly encouraged all U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions to honor the radical BLM movement on May 25, the anniversary of George Floyd’s death.

However, it is “inappropriate for President [Joe] Biden and Secretary Blinken to authorize and encourage the display of inherently political flags that are in no way affiliated with the U.S. Government over American embassies overseas,” Malliotakis noted in the press release:

The American flag is a beacon of freedom and hope for oppressed peoples around the world; it should be the primary flag flown above our embassies and that is what my legislation seeks to accomplish. The Administration’s directive is an insult to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our flag and our nation — especially as we head into Memorial Day weekend — and it is absolutely ridiculous that legislation is needed to correct this issue.

The news release said the BLM organization’s website promotes several “partisan political demands and initiatives” that include defunding the police.

Malliotakis shared the text of the Stars & Stripes Act of 2021 Friday on social media:

“Our beautiful American flag should fly over our U.S. embassies around the world – not the flag of a political organization founded by Marxists,” House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik stated, adding, “I am proud to co-sponsor this legislation introduced by my colleague and friend Congresswoman Malliotakis.”

Black activists from the New Black Panther Party and other groups staged an armed march in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday.

Organizers held a Second Amendment “March for Reparations” and marched through downtown Tulsa.

“The struggle for Reparations must be escalated,” a news release from organizers read. “We must fight on every front to achieve redress and Reparations for the atrocities committed upon Tulsa Massacre descendants; and we must intensify the fight to achieve Reparations for all 40-million Blacks still grossly affected by racism, inequality, wealth disparity, police brutality and the like. Tulsa will mark a new beginning in the upgraded fight for Reparations for Black people.”

Activists shouted, “Black power! Black power!”

Another supremacist threatened white people and said, “Because that time will come when there’s a rat-a-tat-tat… black Americans will kill everything white in sight.”

Founder of Black Lives Matter chapter reveals he left org after learning 'the ugly truth' about BLM

The founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter has revealed in a newly published video that he quit the organization after he "learned the ugly truth" about the organization.

Rashard Turner founded the BLM chapter of St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2015. He explained in his video that he had hoped the organization would promote the dignity of black lives.

"I am living proof that no matter your start life, quality education is a pathway to success. I want the same success for our children in our communities. That's why in 2015, I was a founder of Black Lives Matter in St. Paul," Turner explained in the video. "I believed the organization stood for exactly what the name implies, black lives do matter."

Unfortunately, Turner said he quickly learned Black Lives Matter the organization "had little concern" for promoting the welfare of black lives.

"After a year on the inside, I learned they had little concern for rebuilding black families, and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis," Turner explained. "That was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools alongside the teachers union."

"I was an insider in Black Lives Matter. And I learned the ugly truth," he added. "The moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family. But it does create barriers to a better education for black children. I resigned from Black Lives Matter after a year and a half. But I didn't quit working to improve black lives and access to a great education."

Black mothers of people who have been killed by police — and allegedly helped by BLM in the aftermath — are also speaking out against BLM.

Samaria Rice — the mother of Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old boy fatally shot by Cleveland police in 2014 — accused BLM of exploiting black deaths, the New York Post reported.

"They are benefiting off the blood of our loved ones, and they won't even talk to us," Rice said.

Meanwhile, Tamika Palmer, the mother of Breonna Taylor, blasted the Louisville chapter of BLM in April and called it a "fraud."

"I could walk in a room full of people who claim to be here for Breonna's family who don't even know who I am, I've watched y'all raise money on behalf of Breonna's family who has never done a damn thing for us nor have we needed it or asked so Talk about fraud," Palmer said.

Homeland Security Walks Back Director's Claim US Taking "Close Look" At Vaccine Passports

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday walked back comments made by the agency’s chief, who suggested earlier in the day that the federal government was “taking a very close look” at the idea of requiring vaccine passports to enter or leave the United States.

“Looking ahead to summer, Europe and other countries are going to open up. Could we see vaccine passports to travel internationally either into or out of the U.S.?” an ABC “Good Morning America” host asked Alejandro Mayorkas, head of the DHS.

“We’re taking a very close look at that,” Mayorkas responded.

But DHS said Mayorkas was only talking about how Americans will need to use such passports to enter other countries.

“We’ve always said we’re looking at how we can ensure Americans traveling abroad have a quick and easy way to enter other countries. That’s what the secretary was referring to; ensuring that all U.S. travelers will be able to easily meet any anticipated foreign country entry requirements,” an agency spokesperson told news outlets.

“There will be no federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination credential,” the department also said.

The White House had responded to Mayorkas’ statement by saying the same thing.

Asked to explain his comments, spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Air Force One:

“Again, the U.S. government recognizes that other countries have or may have foreign-entry requirements. We will be monitoring these and helping all U.S. travelers meet those, but we will not be—there will be no federal mandate requiring anyone to obtain a single vaccination credential.”

Texas Senate Passes Major GOP-Backed Election Reform Bill

The Texas state Senate on Sunday morning passed a sweeping election reform bill that was criticized by high-profile Democrats.

The bill passed largely along party lines after an overnight debate that stretched into Sunday morning before the bill was passed at around 6 a.m. local time in a closed-door session, according to local media. The House must approve the bill before midnight on Sunday.

Previously, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, signaled that he backs GOP election measures.

The bill would grant more power to poll watchers by giving them more access inside polling areas, and it would also create new criminal penalties against election officials who restrict poll watchers’ movement. The bill would also allow a judge to void the outcome of an election if the number of fraudulent votes could change the result of an election.

Officials who send mail-in ballots to people who did not request them may also face criminal penalties, according to the bill.

According to a tweet from the Texas District and County Attorneys Association, at least 16 new or enhanced crimes related to elections were included in the bill.

State Sen. Bryan Hughes, a Republican, said that the measure will keep Texas’s elections fair and honest.

“We want elections to be secure and accessible,” said Hughes, who authored the bill, according to the Dallas Morning News.

During the Senate session, Hughes said his bill has “common sense” mandates against fraud, reported the Texas Tribune. “The provisions of this bill apply equally across the board,” Hughes said in response to allegations from Democrats that the bill would restrict minority voters.

Over the weekend, President Joe Biden weighed in on the bill, alleging in a statement that it “attacks the sacred right to vote,” adding: “It’s part of an assault on democracy that we’ve seen far too often this year—and often disproportionately targeting Black and Brown Americans.”

“The Texas law is shameful and Republicans clearly, in Texas and throughout the country, want to make it harder to vote and easier to steal an election,” Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), a member of House Democrats’ leadership, told CBS News on Sunday. “That’s the only way I can interpret the voter suppression epidemic that we see working its way from one state, Georgia, to Arizona to Texas and all across the country.”

Marc Elias, a lawyer who has filed a number of election-related lawsuits on behalf of Democrats, signaled that he will file a suit in the coming days.
