the women who went to war were fighting the Romans, but not romans themselves. Death rate amoung women was way higher, birthing babies could easily kill you. Then you were lucky if half your kids managed to survive. There were not that many women around. Excavation in Pompeii also shows sphylis in girls as young as 12, because Romans and slaves and a different sexual code of morals than Chrisitans are supposed to have. HOWEVER Roman women (as in Roman citizens not slaves) are supposed to be chaste and faithful (and by extrapolation disease free). Getting syphilis back then meant certain death. Do not buy into fictionalized accounts of skinny models showing tits on a netflix doucmentary series as the ideal roman woman. The ideal roman woman reads like a traditional christian homemaker: home, hearth, county, rome, and whatever Gods/Godesses. Learn your history.
