At the time, I got to see the whole ~10 minutes from which that one clip was excerpted. Rodney King was super high on Angel Dust at the time, at doses where it is
psychosis inducing. And, it is a veterinary anaesthetic (for, like, horses and cows). The other parts show King beating on four cops. Mostly.
But CNN put just that 20 seconds on air for about three straight days on a near continuous loop. Had to have been a senior management decision. To incite rioting.
