Election Officials in Fulton County, Georgia Sure Act Like They Have Something to Hide

Last week, I reported on the developments in post-election litigation underway in Fulton County, Georgia, in which plaintiffs had obtained an order from a Georgia State Court judge giving them the authorization to inspect copies of 145,000 mailed-in absentee ballots from the November 2020 election.

Judge Amero has ordered that high-resolution copies be made of the 145,000 absentee ballots, while the originals will remain in the custody of election officials. But the copies should allow the plaintiffs to look for certain kinds of possible irregularities such as whether any ballots were machine marked and then copied in large numbers. Mailed-in absentee ballots should all be hand-marked by the voter.

The lawsuits are being opposed by officials of Fulton County, but Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger — who professed over and over again that the outcome of the Georgia Presidential election was was free of fraud — applauded Judge Amero’s decision.

In a statement, Raffensperger cited “a longstanding history of election mismanagement” in Fulton County.

“From day one I have encouraged Georgians with legitimate concerns about the election in their counties to pursue those claims through legal avenues,” Raffensperger said. “Fulton County has a longstanding history of election mismanagement that has understandably weakened voters’ faith in its system. Allowing this audit provides another layer of transparency and citizen engagement.”

A little more than a week has now passed since Judge Amero’s order, and some disconcerting events have transpired during that time.

Judge Amero’s order specified that the plaintiffs would be allowed to inspect high-resolution copies of the 145,000 ballots, but that the original ballots would remain in a secured county facility. The details of the copying and inspection were to be worked out between the parties and the court. In granting the motion to inspect the ballots, Judge Amero noted that no party had asked that the complaint be dismissed.

But after Judge Amero’s Order, on May 26 Fulton County filed a motion to dismiss the complaint. In addition to claiming that Fulton County itself should not be subject to the complaint since the elections were run by the County Board of Elections, Fulton County also alleged the plaintiffs failed to comply with the statutory requirements for filing an “election contest,” and on that basis, the complaint should be dismissed.

Judge Amero had scheduled a meeting at the ballot storage warehouse to take place on May 27. In response to the motions filed on May 26, Judge Amero postponed the meeting. He stated that the motions must be resolved prior to the court granting access and inspection to the ballots.

That is where the court proceedings stood as of last Friday. But that isn’t all that happened.

On Saturday, May 29, at approximately 4:30, an alarm went off at the warehouse facility where the original ballots are stored in a locked room Security responded — more on that below — and found the warehouse door unlocked and open. The storage location is at 1365 English Street, in Atlanta, which is the address for the “Fulton County Election Preparation Center.”

According to the website CreativeDestructionMedia.com, it conducted an interview with the attorney for the plaintiffs, Robert Cheeley regarding the events leading up to the alarm on Saturday.

Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Foundation Branch for Sick Children Admits Stolen Thousands of Dollars

An executive director of a chapter of the large charity has been spending money, raised for critically ill children and their parents. Damage to the foundation has been estimated at around $ 41,000.

A former executive director of the Make-A-Wish charity office in Iowa has been accused of embezzling thousands of dollars of public funds, raised to help sick children, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Jennifer Woodley pleaded guilty last week, admitting that she had been wasting money from the organization’s credit card, was awarded an unapproved bonus, as well as salary increases and falsified financial records related to these expenses.

Woodley, 40, was charged with felony crimes, including first degree robbery and one count of fraudulent practices. A deal with prosecutors involves recommending a five-year probationary sentence, as well as fines and restitution.

The affidavit says Woodley stole nearly $ 41,000 and a court hearing is scheduled for July 20. The defendant is currently out on bail.

Her attorney, Nicholas Sarcone, said she would appeal a deferred sentence at sentencing, which means the case would be off Woodley’s record as long as she completes her probation and other parts of her sentence.

The Iowa office is located in the Urbandale area and is one of 60 Make-A-Wish America chapters that provides support and financial assistance to families with serious illnesses. Woodley began her criminal practice shortly after being named the group’s president and CEO in 2019. Last summer, she was fired following official investigations.

The foundation, in turn, said in a statement on law and crime that he is “pleased that the Iowa legal system has resolved this issue with an agreement that includes restitution.”

“As always, we remain committed to ensuring that donations to Make-A-Wish are protected and used appropriately to advance our vision of fulfilling the wishes of all eligible children battling critical illness,” the statement said.

Former MI6 chief Sir Richard Dearlove says coronavirus Wuhan lab-leak theory will be difficult to prove as any evidence has likely been destroyed by China

Sir Richard Dearlove said proving the lab-leak theory will prove to be difficult

Former head of the MI6 said evidence of a leak will likely have been destroyed

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said research into Covid's origin is now vital

Sir Richard's comments come after US President Joe Biden last week told intelligence agencies to look into the lab leak theory

If any evidence exists that the Covid-19 pandemic was caused by a lab leak in Wuhan it would likely have been destroyed by China, the former head of MI6 has said.

Sir Richard Dearlove has said proving the theory that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was working on 'gain of function' experiments to create a natural coronavirus that would be more deadly to humans will be very difficult.

He also said he thought Western countries had been naive in their trust of China, which he says has infiltrated scientific institutions and journals in Britain and abroad.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph's 'Planet Normal' podcast, Dearlove - who lead the British secret intelligence service from 1999 to 2004 - also said it was possible that scientists who wanted to speak about the experiments had been 'silenced'.

Former Labor official Peter Hansen sent 'abhorrent' encrypted messages about sex with children, court told

A former priest and Labor official sent encrypted messages about wanting to maximise his trip to the Philippines where he paid young boys to engage in sexual acts, a court has heard

Key points:

Peter Hansen was arrested at Sydney Airport in 2018

The court heard Hansen sexually abused nine children on overseas trips

Earlier this year Hansen told a sentencing hearing he felt ashamed

The District Court in Sydney today heard Peter Hansen sexually abused nine children on overseas trips to the Philippines and Vietnam and possessed more than 100,000 files of child pornography.

He has been charged with more than 30 child exploitation offences.

Hansen used an online messaging service in 2016 to tell another user about the price he could afford to pay the boys he abused and said he hoped the Thai king would not die while he was there and consequently impact his trip.

"My bloody luck he [King Bhumibol Adulyadej] dies the day before I get there and everything is shut," Hansen said under a username to another user.

The 63-year-old from Cabramatta in south-west Sydney said the most he would pay the boys, who were between the ages of 10 and 14, was 250 to 300 pesos (the equivalent of $6.75 to $8.10) but "outstanding performers" might get 500 pesos.

Hansen, who began to tear up when the messages were read in court, has pleaded guilty to offences including possessing and distributing child exploitation material and sexual intercourse with children.
