‘Finished As A City’: Atlanta At Risk Of Losing One Of Its Wealthiest Neighborhoods Over Crime Wave
June 2, 2021
Atlanta is on the verge of losing one of it’s wealthiest neighborhood in the city over their lack of action against rioters and their destructive methods. .Residents of Atlanta’s Buckhead district is looking into their options including seceding from Atlanta and forming their own city where police are allowed to do their job without persecution. This would rob Atlanta of a lot of tax revenue.
A group of residents have gathered to form the Buckhead Exploratory Committee to petition Georgia for permission to put secession on the ballot to let the people decide whether to remain part of Atlanta or whether they can form their own city and leave Atlanta and Mayor Bottoms far behind them. They have already raised $600,000 to fund their effort.
Buckhead Exploratory Committee chairman Bill White said:
“The mayor and the city council have been making bad decisions, so at what point does anyone with a brain say, ‘Enough?’ If crime is out of control and you are doing nothing about it, you are finished as a city.”
Buckhead’s dissatisfaction with Atlanta is over crime and the riots after the death of George Floyd with no apparent attempt to stop the rioting. Police morale is in the gutter after Atlanta’s DA brought charges against an officer who shot a suspect who was trying to taser one of the officers at the scene. So, you are supposed to allow an attack on an officer? No wonder morale is missing in Atlanta.
