The Best Western Premier near the Toronto airport is part hotel/part internment camp. And Sarah Smith of Barrie, Ont., never wants to stay there again.

Sarah recently returned to Toronto from Greece, landing at Pearson International Airport. Par for the course these days, Sarah was transported to a COVID quarantine hotel — in her case, the Best Western. The experience rattled her. Sarah alleges that she was sexually assaulted by a man there, a man who she believed worked at the hotel in some capacity, though it turns out he may not be an employee at all.

The alleged assault occurred in the hotel’s parking garage when Sarah went there to smoke.

The man — who she thought was an employee — offered to accompany her to the parkade.

Afterwards, he started to get handsy. He insisted on massaging Sarah, even though she wasn’t keen on the idea.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before he began touching her inappropriately.

Sarah says that when she broke off his groping advances, the man exposed his penis and began masturbating.

Sarah then says she beat a hasty retreat back to her room. Front desk staff claimed the man didn’t work at the hotel — which raises the question: how was this person allowed to linger around the lobby and interact with guests/inmates? Or did this man perhaps know someone who works at the hotel?

When Sarah was released, she promptly filed a police report. Toronto Police are now investigating; it should be noted that none of Sarah’s allegations have been proven in a court of law.

Recently, we decided to visit this Best Western property along with Sarah.

Alas, our mission to get some answers only resulted in the front desk employees calling the police. How odd: they seemed nonchalant that one of their guests had allegedly been sexually assaulted, but reacted angrily when asked questions.

Meanwhile, we reached out to the media relations department at Best Western’s head office; our emails were not returned. Likewise, we reached out to the Public Health Agency of Canada, which is responsible for running the COVID quarantine hotel program; again, no comment was forthcoming.

Bottom line: it seems to us that if Sarah’s story is indeed true, this would be another criminal act taking place in one of these COVID jails, courtesy of the Justin Trudeau Liberals.

Oh, how we’d love to directly ask Prime Minister Trudeau about the alleged sexual assault of Sarah Smith. We wonder what our feminist PM would have to say.

Our hunch? He would probably say something along the lines of Sarah “experiencing it differently”…

The theory that the coronavirus behind COVID-19 leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) is now being taken very seriously.

So why did the Canadian government make a communications plan to discredit the theory wholesale if they were asked about it, last May?

I've got the communications plan in my hands today.

The public relations strategy was drafted to deflect criticism away from funding that the Trudeau government gave to the WIV, and to mitigate concerns people might have had about the Canadian government allowing Chinese researchers to work at a new proposed Saskatchewan high security lab.

The government of Canada, in collaboration with the province of Saskatchewan, is seeking to build a centre for pandemic research. It's going to be a level four containment lab, the highest level of security.

There's currently only one facility like this in Canada, and it's located in Winnipeg at the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health.

And people are rightly concerned about this new proposed lab, because seven scientists at that Winnipeg lab collaborated with Chinese researchers to study and conduct experiments on deadly pathogens — including at least one from the People's Liberation Army’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences!

And, according to the Globe and Mail, two scientists at the lab were fired in January after the Canadian security intelligence services recommended that their security clearances be removed on national security grounds.

So the Public Health Agency of Canada was directly collaborating with the Chinese military on virology research at the highest level security lab in the country. And then two researchers get fired and their security clearances revoked.

Recently released documents from COVID committee meetings include this briefing note, where health bureaucrats and communications officers for Theresa Tam’s Public Health Agency of Canada were anticipating questions being asked about the WIV.

It turns out that the government of Canada was already dismissing the idea that the coronavirus could have leaked from the very institute that they had just been discovered to be funding. Watch this full report for details.

EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak – who collaborated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology on research funded by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease – appears to boast about the manipulation of “killer” SARS-like coronaviruses carried out by his “colleagues in China” in a clip unearthed by The National Pulse.

Daszak made the admission at a 2016 forum discussing “emerging infectious diseases and the next pandemic,” which appears to be at odds with Fauci’s repeated denial of funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

While describing how his organization sequences deadly viruses, Daszak describes the process of “insert[ing] spike proteins” into viruses to see if they can “bind to human cells” as being carried out by his “colleagues in China”:

Well I didn’t do this work, but my colleagues in China did the work. You create pseudo particles, you insert the spike proteins from those viruses, see if they bind to human cells. At each step of this you move closer and closer to this virus could really become pathogenic in people.

“You end up with a small number of viruses that really do look like killers,” he adds.

The comments follow growing evidence that Fauci’s NIAID has deep financial and personnel ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology – and that Daszak’s EcoHealth alliance was one of the primary proxies funneling the money to the Chinese Communist Party lab.

Over a dozen research papers carried out under a $3.7 million National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) grant list the Wuhan Lab’s Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Director Shi Zhengli as a co-author alongside Daszak. Shi has included these Fauci-backed grants on her resume.

The Wuhan lab has also listed the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as one of its “partners,” secretly erasing the mention in March 2021.

CPSO to Ontario Doctors: “Shut Up or Lose Your Licence”

On April 30, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) announced explicitly a controversial policy that many Ontario doctors had intuitively feared it would adopt. Its Twitter feed, @cpso_ca, contained the framed statement shown below.

CPSO commands Ontario’s doctors not to make any statements that might be considered anti-vaccine, anti-masking, anti-distancing, or anti-lockdown. It forbids them to promote “unsupported, unproven” treatments for COVID-19. (Unproven by what standards? CPSO doesn’t say.) Doctors are further forbidden to make comments that might encourage people to act contrary to public health orders.

Finally, there’s a naked threat: say the wrong thing and you’ll face “disciplinary action”. This translates into, “We’ll suspend your licence, cut off your income stream and impoverish you.”

This is a horrifying statement from both a medical and a legal perspective.

A courageous group of doctors calling themselves Canadian Physicians for Science and Truth quickly pushed back with this online Declaration. As I write this, 548 doctors and 14,487 concerned citizens have already signed it.

The doctors make these three major objections. First, the CPSO is commanding them to abandon the scientific method, which requires vigorous, open debate in order to test existing theories and improve upon or replace them with more accurate ones. That’s how science advances.

Second, the CPSO is commanding doctors to breach their pledge to patients to seek out and apply evidence-based medicine in their care and treatment. Instead of a full range of current and emerging evidence from multiple sources, doctors are restricted to applying stagnant information from only one source: the government.

Third, doctors are being ordered to violate their patients’ right to be fully informed before receiving medical treatment. This implies that doctors will also have to violate their own duty to obtain fully informed consent, putting themselves at risk for eventual lawsuits. Full information about masks, social distancing and vaccinations is not something you can impart to a patient in a 5-minute office visit. Half the world has spent the past 15 months seeking out information about these subjects, and there’s still plenty of room for debate.

It’s therefore easy to see why doctors are outraged by the new CPSO policy. But as a lawyer, I can see two other problems.

First, the dictates of the CPSO violate the Ontario Human Rights Code. Section 6 of the code says: “Every person has a right to equal treatment with respect to membership in any trade union, trade or occupational association or self-governing profession without discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex…” [emphasis added].

The CPSO’s threat is a clear statement of its intention to discriminate on the basis of creed. Although some people interpret “creed” as religion, it actually has a broader meaning. If ever anything qualified as a creed, a doctor’s Hippocratic oath would. It requires doctors to use their own judgment for the benefit of their patients and to “abstain from whatever is deleterious.” Doctors also pledge to “give no deadly medicine to anyone if asked.”Continue…

Discovery of child graves in Canadian residential school demands further questions as many hastily attack the Church

KAMLOOPS, British Colombia, June 9, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The sad discovery of 215 unmarked child graves found at the Kamloops Indian Residential School has led to much sorrow and outrage, as well as stinging attacks against the Catholic Church.

Despite this swift reaction, numerous questions still remain regarding the case. Canadian author Michael O’Brien, himself a former pupil at one of the residential schools, has warned of the danger of accusing the Church of murder before any real information is known about the recently discovered graves, including the context of the residential school period.

Chief Rosanne Casimir from the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation, revealed May 28 that the bodies of 215 schoolchildren, some aged only three years old, had been discovered underground through the use of ground penetrating radar. Casimir mentioned that there had been a “knowing in our community” which led to the search and discovery of the bodies.

Casimir also noted that “these missing children are undocumented deaths,” adding that many questions remained to be answered, and also hinting at the possibility of finding more bodies pending further investigation. She described it as an “unthinkable loss that was spoken about but never documented at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.”

Casimir noted that the investigation had been ongoing since the early 2000s, stating that stories from former pupils had fuelled the desire to search for graves.

Following the discovery, vocal attacks have been made against the Catholic Church, who ran the school while the state financed it, with anti-Catholic sentiment in the mainstream media running at a high.

Residential school system

Kamloops residential school, located in southern British Columbia, was run by the Catholic Church from 1890 to 1969, at which point the federal government took over the running of the facility and turned it into a day school until its closure in 1978. At its height, Kamloops had over 500 children enrolled during the 1950s and was once the largest school of the residential system.

The school was given to the guidance of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1893, by order of the government. However, by 1910, the principal reported that the government was not providing sufficient funding to properly feed the children. A similar report was made in the 1920s.

In 1924, the building was partly destroyed by fire.

It was part of the nation-wide residential school system in Canada, which saw indigenous children unjustly removed from their families, and taken to the schools for the supposed purpose of education and assimilation into the non-indigenous culture. The schools were largely run by the Catholic Church, although by no means were they exclusively under Catholic care only, as other Christian denominations also ran some of the schools.

The seized children were prevented from speaking their native tongue or from engaging in their cultural practices from home. Once attendance at the schools became mandatory in the 1920s, children were forcibly removed from their families and parents threatened with prison if they did not comply. Upon arrival at the school, children rarely saw their families, with many disappearing or never seeing their families again.

Liberal Bill C-10 consultation included eight orgs that received government funding

Eight of the media companies and non-profit organizations the Trudeau government consulted on its internet regulation bill have received federal funding.

In response to a question on the order paper in the House of Commons last week, Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage Julie Dabrusin listed nearly two dozen organizations the Liberal government had consulted on Bill C-10.

“In 2018, the government appointed the broadcasting and telecommunications legislative review panel to study Canada’s communications legislation,” said Debrusin.

“Following the publication of the panel’s report in January 2020, the minister and the department engaged with many stakeholders on the panel’s recommendations through various mechanisms, such as individual stakeholder meetings and roundtables.”

Among the companies Debrusin cited were the Canadian Media Producers Association, Rogers Media, Zoomer Media, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), the Indigenous Screen Office, the Canada Media Fund, CBC News/Radio-Canada and the Coalition for Diversity of Cultural Expression.

Publicly available federal grant records revealed that all of the Canadian companies mentioned above had received federal funds since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was elected in 2015.

The Canada Media Fund – which is a public-private endeavour founded by the Department of Canadian Heritage in 2010 – received a whopping $280,761,077 in federal funds in 2020 alone.

Private companies like Rogers Media and Zoomer Media also benefited from the Trudeau government’s generosity in recent years. According to official data, Zoomer media received two payments in 2020 totalling $987,971 and $246,993 respectively. The company also received government funding in 2019 worth $987,971 and in 2018 for $1,045,168.

Meanwhile, Rogers Media, which owns several publications including Maclean’s and Chatelaine, also received a combined total of $3,228,009 in 2018 for various publications through the Canada Periodical Fund which is also managed by Canadian Heritage.

Additionally, APTN received two federal grants worth $800,000 and $7,428 respectively in 2020 while also benefiting from $1,500,000 in federal funds the year prior.

As previously reported by True North, the Coalition for Diversity of Cultural Expression also benefited from federal funding in 2019 as well.

Then there’s also the Canadian Media Producers Association of Canada which received $138,300 in 2020 and $37,907.60 the year prior.

This is not the first time where the Liberals have referenced government funded groups to bolster their claims of support for Bill C-10.

In May, Canadian Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault referenced nearly a dozen Canadian organizations that have spoken out in support of Bill C-10 without revealing that they received government funds.

Manitoba to introduce vaccine passports for interprovincial travel

The Manitoba government is introducing a vaccine passport to allow fully vaccinated Manitobans to travel between provinces without needing to quarantine on return.

According to Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister, immunization and vaccine passports are “the way back” to a time before COVID-19.

“I’m cognizant that we don’t want to take away rights and freedoms from people, at the same time COVID is doing that for us. The sooner we can get as many as possible vaccinated in Manitoba, the better off we’re all going to be,” said Pallister.

“The vaccine can help us to get our lives back out if we choose to get it. I encourage everyone to do this… This is the way back to a time when we could see friends and visit with our friends and loved one and when travel was not a privilege given to some.”

Pallister also suggested that vaccine passports should be seen as a benefit for those who want to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Civil liberty groups like the Canadian Constitution Foundation and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) have cautioned against the “troubling” implications vaccine passports might have on fundamental freedoms.

“There are a variety of reasons why the concept of a vaccination passport is a troubling one. First, the science doesn’t support their utility. But beyond that, even if they were perfectly effective, they raise significant risks to rights and freedoms,” writes the CCLA.

This week the federal government also announced it would be easing travel restrictions for fully-vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents.

According to Health Minister Patty Hajdu, those who have received two shots of an approved vaccine will be able to skip the mandatory hotel quarantine requirement beginning in early July.

Recently, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau received criticism after it was revealed that he would have a special hotel reserved for him and other Canadian officials upon returning from the latest G7 summit in the UK.

“Mr. Speaker, just before he goes on his trip to the U.K., the Prime Minister decided to stop making hotel quarantine mandatory for those with two doses who come to Canada as of July. The Conservative Party has been asking for this for a month, and he has now realized the personal impact of these bad decisions. In French, Trudeau replied:

“Mr. Speaker, we have always taken the measures required to protect Canadians, and the measure to ensure that somebody tests negative before they leave an approved accommodation by the government when they come into Canada by plane, has worked.

“In order to detect cases, and to protect Canadians from bringing in variants of COVID-19. We know that we must continue to protect Canadians. As a priority during this pandemic, but we always recognize that people who are fully vaccinated should be able to have more freedoms.”

COVID “will become parts of our lives”: Yukon looking at repeat vaccinations

Yukon's chief medical officer of health told reporters that the territory is “well positioned” to allow residents to “live their lives close to normal” as they examine repeat or annual vaccinations for the population.

“COVID will become part of our lives”, remarked Dr. Brendan Hanley in a press conference earlier today, adding that “this disease is not going away.”

Here's what Hanley had to say about what's next for COVID in Yukon:

“I think there's still much to learn, and I think… it's clear that the challenge of global vaccination is huge, and will take potentially years to accomplish.

“And meanwhile, we will be in a situation where we will likely be seeing new variants and new episodes. So for sure, this disease is not going away. It's even hard to predict the end to the pandemic. We are definitely… well positioned for future openings, and the ability to live our lives close to normal… but definitely COVID will become part of our lives.

“And yes, I anticipate that we will be looking at repeat vaccinations and potentially even something like the flu vaccination, where there's a new formulation every year based on what's circulating. So yeah, that's really only what we think, at the moment, and certainly over the next few months… first we'll know more about how long this present vaccine lasts, and we know more every week about how different variants respond to… the different vaccine products.

“And we have new vaccines in the pipeline as well, which may have different characteristics, including one Canadian product, the Medicago vaccine. Anticipated for fall and beyond. So I think… lots to know and learn, especially as new variants come on the scene, and new vaccines, as well. And new studies, and durability of vaccines.

“I…we don't really know yet [but] yeah, it's gonna be around.”

Energy infrastructure company TC Energy said on Wednesday it had terminated the $9 billion Keystone XL pipeline project, months after President Joe Biden revoked a key permit in a blow to Canada's oil sector.

Keystone XL, which would have been under construction this year, was expected to carry 830,000 barrels per day of Alberta oil sands crude to Nebraska.

But opposition from U.S. landowners, Native American tribes and environmentalists had delayed the project for the past 12 years, with Biden pledging to scrap the permit, which he did on his first day in office.

Biden has taken heat from critics for his opposition to legacy fuel sources and advocacy of alternative energy sources, a position some say would be damaging to the economy.

"We remain disappointed and frustrated with the circumstances surrounding the Keystone XL project, including the cancellation of the presidential permit for the pipeline's border crossing," Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said in a statement.

TC Energy said it would continue to coordinate with regulators, stakeholders and Indigenous groups to meet its environmental and regulatory commitments and ensure a safe termination of and exit from the project.

The company swung to a loss in the first quarter, hit by C$2.2 billion ($1.81 billion) impairment charges related to the suspension of the Keystone XL project.

iberal MP Adam van Koeverden called National Post columnist Rex Murphy a “national disgrace” on Tuesday over a column in which Murphy decried racism and discrimination.

van Koeverden made the comments in a Twitter reply to Murphy’s latest National Post column titled “Why did Yale host a lecture called ‘The Psychopathic Problem of the White Mind’?

“Vile trash. Rex Murphy is a national disgrace. Shame on you NP,” tweeted van Koeverden.

In response to van Koeverden’s accusations, Twitter users called the member of parliament out for attacking Murphy for advocating against racism.

Murphy’s column references an incident at Yale University where psychiatrist Dr. Aruna Khilanani gave a lecture in which she said that she fantasized about “unloading a revolver into the head of any white person.”

“I had fantasies of unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way, burying their body, and wiping my bloody hands as I walked away relatively guiltless with a bounce in my step. Like I did the world a f**king favour,” Khilanani was quoted as saying.

“There are some lessons so fundamental, so deeply true, that they can never be superceded. And one of them has been learned by most people, and by most people abided and that is: Do not make judgements on people based on their skin colour. That’s the basic lesson,” Murphy wrote in his column.

This is not the first time that Murphy has been targeted by the government over his views. As reported by True North in December, an anonymous user on a Government of Canada computer edited his Wikipedia page to label him a “climate change denier.”

The change was logged by the Government of Canada Wikipedia edits’ Twitter account, which is a bot that tracks anonymous edits made by accounts with various federal department IP addresses.

The IP address involved in the incident reportedly belongs to the federal department of Shared Services Canada.

Peel Region health official warns “fourth wave is brewing right now”

Peel Region's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh is warning residents of the possibility that a “fourth wave is brewing right now” ahead of Ontario's lifting of some public health restrictions on June 11.

Peel, which neighbours Toronto and includes the large cities of Mississauga and Brampton, has seen some of the highest rates of COVID-19 in the country.

Dr. Loh cautioned that while case counts and hospitalizations continue to decline, moving toward numbers not seen since the fall of 2020, the Delta variant, first reported in India, is a cause for concern.

“On Friday I want to remind our residents that these first steps to reopening are not a full return to normal,” Dr. Loh said, with Ontario set to enter its three-stage reopening plan as of 12:01 a.m. Friday.

“We do have high first dose coverage but we have low second dose coverage and the science shows that only 33 to 50 per cent protection is afforded against the Delta variant with one dose,” the doctor continued, pointing to data from the United Kingdom that suggested current vaccines were not as effective at fighting this strain.

The health official also warned that reopening too soon could lead to another resurgence in the virus, and further encouraged residents to continue limiting contact with others and following public health protocols.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown recently called on the province to prioritize vaccine shipments to Peel, saying that the large number of crowded factories in the city were “like a tinderbox,” and suggesting that the new variant would could “spread like wildfire.”

Peel Region has currently vaccinated nearly 73.8 per cent of adults with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 7.4 per cent of adults are now considered to be fully vaccinated.

Apology not accepted! Jason Kenney must make amends for breaking COVID rules

Premier Jason Kenney and his colleagues have been caught in the act of violating COVID restrictions, though they would never admit to it. In fact, even after damning photos emerged proving as much, Kenney, Deena Hinshaw and other senior staff went out of their way to gaslight Albertans and insist no violations had taken place.

This was an opportunity to seem human, to admit fault, to offer to make amends — instead, entitled politicians turned it into a coverup. When an apology finally came, it was half-hearted and too little, too late. An air of entitlement all too reminiscent of Redford-era politics pervaded the press event, which was only fitting given that the Sky Palace is once again in the news. One rule for us, another for you.

The double standard is glaring. No consequences or fines for Jason Kenney and his pals while pastors are being jailed and business owners face prosecution. As if that weren’t enough of a scandal, questions were raised as to why booze was on the table while government officials met for a “work meeting.” I suppose the same entitlement that makes these officials so reluctant to apologize also emboldens them to drink while carrying out their official duties.

Kenney apologized and accepted full responsibility for his actions, but his apology was void of meaningful action or consequence.

If the premier is truly contrite, I propose the following remedy:

Kenney should apologize for the ceaseless harassment and harrowing roadside arrest of Pastor Artur Pawlowski and cease all proceedings against him. If he does so, I may be willing to listen. He can call Pastor Tim Stephens’ wife and apologize for plucking her husband away from their family, then maybe we can talk. Jason Kenney can drop charges against Pastor James Coates, Glen Carritt, Chris Scott, Ty Northcott and anyone else who has been unjustly targeted for resisting the restrictions that Kenney himself cannot seem to adhere too — then I might believe his apology.

Until such amends are made, it seems evident that the Sky Palace is poised to topple yet another pack of entitled politicians. Apology not accepted.

“No details” on COVID vaccine uptake among Nova Scotia's Temporary Foreign Workers

Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health told media today that while he did not have details on the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among the population of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW), the province has a “relationship” with an unnamed third party organization that can help migrant workers access a second dose.

The comments were made by Dr. Robert Strang in reply to a Radio-Canada reporter who asked directly if "temporary foreign workers [were] prioritized in the early stages of the vaccination campaign in Nova Scotia."

“Yes, they were”, replied Strang, who went on to offer more detail and walk back his definition of “priority”:

We made specific efforts to work with our agriculture colleagues, and specific farms [with] temporary foreign workers, to make arrangements to have those… individuals get access… through one of our, their… community clinic… or a pharmacy that was closest to them.

I don't have the details on what the uptake has been, but we certainly made them — not a priority, but we made sure that they had the necessary access to get vaccinated.

When asked about providing mobile clinics to migrant workers, Strang gave the following answer:

We have a relationship with a… third party organization, as well as the farms and the Department of Agriculture, so we know where the temporary foreign workers are located, we know the farms, and we can certainly work with those farms to make sure that the workers get access to the second dose.

Last week, Strang admitted that COVID-19 vaccines are “not 100 per cent effective,” and that even after receiving two doses, “some people may die.”
