Man gets ‘unheard of’ 275-year sentence for child sex crimes

An Oregon pedophile convicted of dozens of sex crimes against little girls was sentenced to more than 275 years in prison – a punishment that a prosecutor called “unheard of,” a new report says.

Tristan Ray Stanton, 34, of Roseburg received the massive sentence Tuesday from a Douglas County judge after his conviction on 29 counts of sex crimes involving four young girls between 2014 and last year, the News-Review reported.

“I work very hard to find a place to work encouragement into my sentence, but there is absolutely nothing in this case that I find redeeming,” Judge Ann Marie Simmons told the fiend at his sentencing.

“There is nothing I can say to them or say to you that can make anything better. There was nothing good that came of this.”

Earlier at the hearing, Douglas County District Attorney Rick Wesenberg told the judge, “We are asking you respectfully: Honor these girls.

“They will never be the same,” the DA said — adding that he could not adequately describe the abuse the victims endured.

The judge then handed down 10 sentences of 25 years — to be served consecutively — for seven counts of first-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, the newspaper reported.

Stanton also received separate 75-, 45- and 36-month sentences on other counts, including first-degree sex abuse, which will be served consecutively as well, Simmons ruled.

The combined sentences total 3,306 months – or 275 ½ years in prison, a term that Wesenberg told the newspaper was “unheard of,” according to the report.

Stanton’s lawyer had sought a 25-year concurrent sentence on all of the charges.

A woman told Roseburg police in January 2020 that her daughter had inappropriate sexual contact with a man at a home, setting off the investigation into Stanton.

Two other girls later accused him of sexually abusing them, and a fourth girl said she was also victimized, the newspaper reported.

Wesenberg said he believed Stanton had preyed upon at least two other girls as well.

“I can’t tell you as I’m standing here how many more children he’s had at!” the prosecutor shouted in court while pointing two hands at Stanton, who did not address the judge before she issued her lengthy sentence.

“None of these girls could come and speak to you today, but they were so brave to come in and talk in front of that jury,” Wesenberg continued.

EU, UK Investigate Facebook Over Classified Ad Competition

LONDON—European Union and British regulators opened dual antitrust investigations Friday into whether Facebook distorts competition in the classified advertising market by using data to compete unfairly against rival services.

The coordinated effort represents an escalation by European regulators in their battle to rein in the dominance of big tech companies. The focus of the investigations highlights a longstanding concern that the data they collect from people or businesses using their platforms are used to get an advantage over competitors, which could include those same businesses.

“Facebook collects vast troves of data on the activities of users of its social network and beyond, enabling it to target specific customer groups,” said Margrethe Vestager, the European Commission’s executive vice president in charge of competition policy. “We will look in detail at whether this data gives Facebook an undue competitive advantage, in particular on the online classified ads sector, where people buy and sell goods every day, and where Facebook also competes with companies from which it collects data.”

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority said in a simultaneous announcement that it launched its own probe to examine whether Facebook’s collection and use of data gave it an unfair advantage over competitors providing classified data and online dating services.

Facebook said it “will continue to cooperate fully with the investigations to demonstrate that they are without merit.”

Marketplace, Facebook’s classified ad service, and Facebook Dating “offer people more choices and both products operate in a highly competitive environment with many large incumbents,” the company said in a statement.

Pastor Jesse Lee Peterson Calls For U.S. To Celebrate ‘White History Month’ Instead Of ‘Perverted’ Pride Month

Pastor Jesse Lee Peterson appeared on the One America News network this week to discuss Christianity and morality, and infuriated left-wing activists on social media by stating that Americans should learn more about White history, and celebrate White history month instead of “so-called gay pride” during the summer.

“You know, I started the white history month in July. This is our fourth year coming up where we’re celebrating white history,” Peterson said. “And what I’ve noticed that in America, a country that was founded by white people and created by white people, one of the greatest country on this side of heaven. And so white people — invited all these other — allowed all this other stuff to happen but you can celebrate everything but white history. We must remember white history, because if it wasn’t for that, there would be no America.”

The pastor continued, “And so they got Black history, women history, Mexican history, so-called gay pride. What’s happy about being perverted? There’s nothing good about that, living in sin, right? And — but we celebrate — I don’t — but they celebrate that. But when it comes to white history they’re afraid to even mention white history. But we got to bring that back because that’s who made America great. We got to show our appreciation.”

Author, minister, and radio and television show host Jesse Lee Peterson announced on “The Jesse Lee Peterson” Show this week that he would he celebrating July as “White History Month” for the third consecutive year.

“I’m looking at white people under attack, and they’re afraid to stand up for themselves,” Peterson said. “And there’s no real appreciation in America for white people who founded and created the greatest country on this side of heaven.”

Peterson went on to reference the politically and racially motivated riots that have swept across the country, and the “children of destruction” who want to “destroy American history.” “And so I started White History Month, one to show my appreciation, two to encourage white people to speak up, and three to remind all generations of the history of America, and where we’ve come from,” he explained.

The pastor went on to state that if racialized left-wing politics does not cease, the children of black people “will never know peace, unless they start to overcome this anger.”

‘Creep’ mayoral hopeful Scott Stringer groped me, kissed me: second accuser

A second woman accused Democratic mayoral candidate Scott Stringer of sexual misconduct on Friday in a devastating blow to his troubled campaign.

Teresa Logan told the New York Times that Stringer — the outgoing city comptroller — groped and kissed her without consent when she worked as a waitress at a bar he co-founded and helped run nearly 30 years ago.

Logan said the first alleged incident took place while she was carrying trays past Stringer on a stairwell at the since-shuttered Uptown Local in spring 1992, when she was 18 and Stringer was 32.

“He just, like, totally pats me on the butt, and like, squeezes it,” she told the paper.

“I had no way of reacting. My hands weren’t free to even protect myself.”

Logan said that it “freaked me out” but that she “sort of glossed it over” by telling herself, “This dude’s a creep, so are a lot of guys at bars probably.”

Another time, Logan said, she agreed to accompany Stringer to another bar before he surprisingly hailed a cab for the trip.

“I just have a memory of him in the car, putting his hand on my inner thigh,” she claimed.

At one point, Logan said, Stringer kissed her.

“I was like, ‘No, no, no,’ and then when I was so strong about the ‘no’ in that situation, it stopped,” she said.

Logan — who’s now 47 and works in the fashion industry — said Stringer “kind of laughed it off, like, ‘Oh, I’m drunk, I’m sorry.’”

Logan also described an incident during which she and Stringer were drinking after work and he suggested they go to another bar — but they ended up in front of his apartment building.

After she told him there was “no way” she was going upstairs, Logan said, Stringer began to kiss and grope her.

“It was almost like this out-of-body experience, where I’m like, ‘What do I do, like this is my boss,’” she said.

“Meanwhile he’s like, his hand going up my skirt, and my chest.”

Logan said she “was like ‘No, no, no, I’m going home.”

“And I like, turned my back, walked away. Got a cab,” she told The Times.

Governor Newsom Will Not Lift State of Emergency in California on June 15 as Promised

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday announced he will not lift the state of emergency in California on June 15 as he previously promised.

California’s Covid restrictions will be lifted on June 15, however Newsom is hanging on to his broad powers by keeping the emergency in effect.

“The emergency remains in effect after June 15,” Newsom said on Friday during his vaccine lottery event.

“The one thing I am certain of is there’s uncertainty in the future,” Newsom said.

“We’re still in a state of emergency. This disease is still in effect. It is not taking the summer off,” he added.

Senate Republican leader Scott Wilk blasted Gavin Newsom in a statement on Friday.

Newsom is facing a recall election in November.

High-Ranking Chinese Defector Working With DIA Has 'Direct Knowledge' of China's Bioweapons Program—and It's Very Bad

A person believed to be among the highest-ranking defectors ever to the United States from the People’s Republic of China has been working with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for months, sources inside the intelligence community have told RedState on condition of anonymity. The defector has direct knowledge of special weapons programs in China, including bioweapons programs, those sources say.

The information provided to RedState corroborates and clarifies Thursday evening’s reporting by journalist Adam Housley.

RedState’s sources say that’s partially true. FBI Director Christopher Wray was “ambushed” with the information, they say, and Langley was also unaware. Sources say DIA leadership kept the defector within their Clandestine Services network to prevent Langley and the State Department from accessing the person, whose existence was kept from other agencies because DIA leadership believes there are Chinese spies or sources inside the FBI, CIA, and several other federal agencies.

More than 3000 cicada species have been described worldwide. Most have a yearly life cycle, but seven species in the US belonging to the Magicicada genus remain underground as nymphs for 13 or 17 years before emerging, a process called periodical brooding. The only other two species of cicada to do this are found in Fiji and India.
