‘Breaking the News’: How Pro-China Corporate Media and Left-Wing Activists Gutted Reporting on the Wuhan Coronavirus

As has become clear in recent weeks, the establishment media and Silicon Valley Masters of the Universe were never particularly interested in doing accurate reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic.

As I document in my new bestselling book, Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption, the press sought to turn the virus into “God’s gift to the left” (that’s Jane Fonda’s terminology, not mine), pushing a narrative that we are all victims of the Trump Virus and the former president’s supposed incompetence. The only solution, we were told, was a massive expansion of government and more corporate control over our lives.

It became clear early on in the pandemic that the pro-Democrat media establishment was not going to do the Bad Orange President any political favors, even if that meant that they would have to ignore obvious leads on the biggest news story in decades. After all, the incentives for getting to the bottom of the origins of the virus were seemingly low for ideologically leftist reporters. If the crisis was seen as Trump’s fault, it would make it all the more likely he would lose his reelection bid in November 2020. And if it the plan was to portray the outbreak as the “Trump Virus,” it certainly couldn’t be the “Wuhan Flu” or “China Virus” too.

Perhaps more interesting, though, is that many of the newsrooms and tech platforms that control the vast majority of the flow of information on the pandemic have deep financial ties to China – or would like to have them one day.

Take NBC News for example. NBC News is part of the multinational conglomerate NBCComcastUniversal. Why would NBC News do a big expose on, say, Chinese concentration camps when there is a Universal Studios in Beijing? Or why would NBC make it clear to their readers and viewers that China is the worst human rights abuser on Earth when, say, the latest movie from the Fast and Furious franchise is set to open and Universal is handling the international distribution? (Now all of a sudden actor John Cena’s groveling to the communist nation makes a lot more cents, I mean sense, doesn’t it?)

My reporting also confirms that news outlet with even a small amount of access to China are under near-constant fear of being thrown out of country, or even “disappeared.”

How about ABC News, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company. Disney’s business interests in China are vast, including billions of dollars in revenue from movies and theme parks. Recall that the end credits of the recent live-action remake of Mulan featured a thank you to a Chinese government security bureau linked to Uyghur concentration camps. Now you know why.

Report: Bush Foundation Bankrolled by Chinese Communist Party-Linked Firm

A foundation started by the late President George H.W. Bush’s son, Neil Bush, bearing his name is being bankrolled by a firm linked to China’s communist government, known officially as the Communist Party of China.

A report by Axios revealed the George H.W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, chaired and founded by Neil Bush in 2017, is raking in a $5 million grant from 2019 to 2023 from the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), which has ties to China’s communist government.

Axios reported:

Tax filings covering May through December of 2019 show the Bush China Foundation brought in a total of under $1.2 million in contributions, meaning CUSEF’s donations would likely comprise a substantial portion of its revenue.

The Hong Kong-based CUSEF is run by the city’s former chief executive, Tung Chee-Hwa. It calls itself “an independent, non-profit and non-governmental foundation.”

Tung is also the vice-chair of a Beijing-based advisory body that promotes the Chinese Communist Party’s political aims, which is chaired by a Politburo official who plays a leading role in Beijing’s “united front” global influence campaign.

CUSEF’s ties to the Chinese communist government have been widely documented.

In 2018, for instance, Reps. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and Mike McCaul (R-TX) wrote to Texas university presidents warning of CUSEF’s influence on campuses in the state, noting the firm’s intentions are “to spread China’s political agenda, suppress academic debate, and steal vital academic research.”

A year earlier, the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) was notably blasted for taking funds from CUSEF to bankroll “a new endowed professorship in the China Studies department as well as a new research project called the Pacific Community Initiative,” Foreign Policy reported at the time:

While CUSEF representatives stress that it is not an agent of the Chinese Communist Party, the foundation has cooperated on projects with the the People’s Liberation Army and uses the same Washington public relations firm that the Chinese Embassy does. [Emphasis added]

Exchanges and partnerships are not CUSEF’s only initiatives. As a registered foreign agent, in 2016 it spent just under $668,000 on lobbying, hiring the Podesta Group and other firms to lobby Congress on the topic of “China-U.S. relations.” The foundation has spent $510,000 on lobbying to date in 2017. Likewise, the Jamestown Foundation detailed CUSEF’s ties to China’s communist government in a September 2020 report.

COVID death toll suddenly drops 25% when California county officials make policy change

Alameda County, a Northern California county that includes the city of Oakland, has revised their COVID-19 data methodology, resulting in a massive 25% decrease in their reported COVID-19 deaths.

What are the details?

The COVID-19 death toll in Alameda County decreased from 1,634 to 1,223 on Friday after officials updated their methodology for COVID-19 reporting, now only including people who directly died from COVID-19 in their count.

Previously, Alameda County officials included in their death toll any resident who died while infected the virus — not just those individuals who died directly from COVID-19.

The Los Angeles Times now includes the following note on its Alameda County data, "Alameda County on Friday reduced its total count of deaths by 411. The county previously reported deaths of any person infected with the virus. The updated total includes only deaths in which COVID-19 was a direct or contributing cause, or if COVID-19 could not be ruled out as a cause."

Neetu Balram, a spokesperson for the Alameda County Public Health Department, said the 411 people removed from the county's COVID-19 death toll died from causes "clearly not caused by COVID," the Oaklandside reported.

Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease expert and senior scholar at Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, told The Oaklandside that although some adjustments are to be expected, 25% "seems high." Adalja said he has never seen this big of an adjustment in a death count with other infectious diseases.

In a press release, Balram said Alameda County's definition of a COVID-19 death lagged behind the state's official definition, which explains the sudden change.

"Alameda County previously included any person who died while infected with the virus in the total COVID-19 deaths for the County," the press release explained. "Aligning with the State's definition will require Alameda County to report as COVID-19 deaths only those people who died as a direct result of COVID-19, with COVID-19 as a contributing cause of death, or in whom death caused by COVID-19 could not be ruled out."

In total, more than 67,000 people have died from COVID-19 in California.

‘Damning’ science shows COVID-19 likely engineered in lab: experts

“Damning” science strongly suggests that COVID-19 is a man-made monster, optimized in a lab for maximum infectivity before hitting the outside to catastrophic effect, two experts said Sunday.

Writing in an opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal, Dr. Steven Quay and Richard Muller pointed to two key pieces of evidence to support the claim, which has increasingly gained steam after long being derided as little more than speculation.

The first relates to the nature of gain-of-function research, in which microbiologists tweak a virus’ genome to alter its properties, such as making it more transmissible or more lethal.

Of the 36 possible genome pairings that can produce two arginine amino acids in a row — which results in boosting a virus’ lethality — the one most commonly used in gain-of-function research is CGG-CGG, or double CGG, wrote Quay and Muller.

“The insertion sequence of choice is the double CGG,” wrote Quay, the founder of Atossa Therapeutics, and Muller, a former top scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who now teaches physics at the University of California’s Berkeley campus.

“That’s because it is readily available and convenient, and scientists have a great deal of experience inserting it,” they wrote. “An additional advantage of the double CGG sequence compared with the other 35 possible choices: It creates a useful beacon that permits the scientists to track the insertion in the laboratory.”

The pair noted that the double CGG sequence has never been found naturally among the entire group of coronaviruses that includes CoV-2, which causes COVID-19.

But, in what Quay and Muller called a “damning fact,” it was found in CoV-2.

“Proponents of zoonotic origin must explain why the novel coronavirus, when it mutated or recombined, happened to pick its least favorite combination, the double CGG,” they wrote. “Why did it replicate the choice the lab’s gain-of-function researchers would have made?

Adam Schiff: Republican Party Has Become ‘Anti-Democratic’

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Sunday on MSNBC’s “Alex Witt Reports” called the Republican Party “anti-democratic.”

Witt said, “Here is something that investigative reporters have gotten ahold of from The New York Times. They report that in Donald Trump’s final weeks in office, his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, repeatedly pushed the Justice Department to investigate unfounded conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election. This is according to newly-uncovered emails provided to Congress. What new layer does this add to the effort to undermine the election results? How serious is this direct link to the Oval Office and Donald Trump?”

Schiff said, “It’s very serious. I served with Mark Meadows. I know him reasonably well. This is tragic when people allow themselves to do in the service of this unethical president, and to, from the White House, be urging the Justice Department to engage in bogus investigations, either to gratify the president’s ego or even worse, to actually try to overturn the results. This is the president’s chief of staff. We have the president’s former national security adviser, Mike Flynn, openly opining but why we can’t have a coup like in Myanmar. We have the president and his supporters saying he will be reinstated in August, which is nonsense.”

“These are leaders, former leaders of the country that were engaged in this kind of conduct,” he continued. “And with respect to Meadows, it’s, again, another assault on the independence of the Justice Department. They shouldn’t be having those contacts about any subject that implicates the president. But the fact that he was doing it to try to overturn a U.S. election shows what an anti-democratic party the Republican Party has become, anti-democratic, anti-truth. They have essentially forsaken one of the most important norms there is, the peaceful transfer of power.”

Moderna Warns that New Variants of Covid-19 are Coming

The fear-mongering I warned about regarding new variants of COVID-19 in my “Get Ready for COVID-21” article from January is picking up steam. Recently, scientists and executives from Moderna began sounding the alarm that the current crop of “vaccines” wouldn’t be enough to stem the tide of newly emerging COVID variants that are more even transmissible.

An article from Deadline highlighted comments from Moderna’s chief scientific officer Melissa Moore, who stated:

As the virus spreads, it is rapidly mutating. Some of these new viral strains appear to be even more transmissible than the original strain… We already know that some of these new strains are less susceptible to neutralization by our current vaccine.

Also quoted in the article was Moderna scientist and associate director of the infectious disease team, Guillaume Stewart-Jones, who stated:

The shortest time from the detection of a variant of concern to preclinical immunogenicity readout against a panel of pseudoviruses is approximately 2 to 3 months…And new viral variants are coming — emerging constantly in real time.

The article goes on to suggest, “…while it’s generally acknowledged that most variants will not morph into something more fatal than the current virus, there are no guarantees.”

Regarding the need for COVID booster shoots, a recent Motley Fool article, added:

…The bottom line is that booster shots and new vaccines targeting the variants will likely be needed.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor to President Biden and longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, thinks that we won’t know for sure if booster doses are needed until the fall. Moderna’s research appears to indicate that it’s not a question of if but when booster shots will be required.

It makes perfect sense that Moderna, who recently filed for full FDA approval of its COVID “vaccine” (following Pfizer’s request last month) would cite the need for booster shots as they stand gain even greater financial benefit. Motley Fool goes on to document the potential financial windfall that awaits the major “vaccine” makers:

Arguably the most likely to succeed in the variant-focused COVID-19 vaccine market are the drugmakers that have already been the most successful: Moderna and Pfizer (along with its partner BioNTech)Why? Perhaps most important, their messenger RNA technology allows these companies to rapidly develop variant-specific vaccines. Moderna and Pfizer are already in testing with their respective variant-specific candidates.

But has the rise of the coronavirus variants already been priced into these stocks? You might think that’s the case for Moderna and BioNTech. The biotech stocks have soared nearly 80% and more than 150% year to date, respectively. Pfizer’s shares, though, are up only 5% this year.

However, all three of these stocks trade at low forward-earnings multiples. If the coronavirus continues to mutate and force the need for new variant-specific vaccines to keep the pandemic at bay, Moderna, Pfizer, and BioNTech could have plenty of room to run
