Automation is not "all or nothing" it can (and should!) be done similar to the Pareto rule – the thing slowing you down 80%? Automate that. Then find the next 80% slowdown. After a few of those you'll be lean and mean.

And, a place that's under constant attack? I agree that if we automate a path, then [they] will attempt to weaponize the path. So, constant vigilance is necessary. And if we're going to be watching always anyway, then why not continue the way we're doing it?
