The original translators mistranslated the Greek Ebri (traveller, somebody not from around here, passing thru.) Abraham was an Ebri in the land of Canaan. He paid tribute to stay there.
Abram's father Terah was a Temple Priest in Ur - that was a fast fall from Noah who was still alive. Abram would have been well versed in all things/Idols/god of Sumer.
The lack of these details anywhere in the West is curious. I prefer all of the available information and I'll decide what I think about it.
