If a majority of people were wealthy, then the wealthy wouldn't be wealthy any more, they would be middle class.
Wealth is comparative.
The wealthy cannot be wealthy without the poor and/or middle class.
They problem is that the really greedy wealthy people want there to be only poor people and no middle class. That way the wealthy have all of the power & control and can do whatever they want with no accountability to anyone.
