This is something that was part of the WoW expansion "Battle for Azeroth" BfA.
There were challenge scenarios where you attempted to break the hold of the evil 'old god' N'zoth.
It was a Cthulhu like creature that attacked the mind and drove the player to madness.
The masks made the challenge more difficult as part of the achievements.
There are no cards that I am aware of.
Just in game items that you activated to make the scenarios more challenging.
