I would propose that it is not odd, but rather to kind of have been expected for this reason:
As time marches on, everything as a whole has got further from the initial intent because liberalism and the media, as the tools of the Globalists have undermined our rights and dumbed us down as a whole (quite by design).
Because the places you mention have had a head start on everywhere else, they have 'gone in the ditch' first.
At this point, we are witnessing the spread of communism (the REAL virus) from those same places in much the same way as Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness did in the beginning.
