Foo Fighters (from the French word Feu (fire) were literally orbs that appeared to be "balls of fire"

Last week's news article about Navy radar detecting multiple "6-foot diameter self-illumanted craft" made me wonder if they were describing Foo Fighters,

but not wanting to connect them to their 75+ years of known existence

 

A military flight that reported a foo-fighter type incident (flaming orb) over the Mediterranean Sea in the 90's… the Pentagon tried to make them believe they had seen

a rocket from Italian farmers trying to seed the clouds for rain. The flaming orb was travelling horizontally (at 30,000+ feet), not parabolically, and maneuvered when it got near the military plane.
