Fire chief in Summers County faces child pornography charges
SUMMERS COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Court records said the chief of the Summers County Fire Department has been charged with child pornography.
Brian Maxwell Cale, 34, of Hinton faces multiple charges, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Summers County Magistrate Court.
The complaint said in October 2020 a juvenile male sent an explicit Snapchat message to a juvenile girl that showed a photo of the juvenile male and Cale and asked the girl if she wanted to have sex. Cale allegedly replied with a video and said there is nothing “wrong with that, it’s just a question.”
According to the complaint, the juvenile male also sent videos of the girl snorting an unknown substance with Cale.
In October 2020, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged several photos that showed explicit photos of juveniles that were linked to Cale’s Snapchat account, court records said.
Cale is charged with distribution of child porn, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, soliciting a minor via computer and child abuse creating risk of injury. He is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 surety/cash bond.
West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation.
