The SkyKing Barrel Roll has bothered me for a long time …this video is too chopped up to see it, but check out other vids for yourself…

He appears to be doing a left barrel roll (yoke turned to the left), but at 3/4 way through the image goes out of focus for a split second and then

back in focus, and suddenly the Q400 is doing a RIGHT barrel roll (yoke to the right) for the last 1/4 turn

He should have rolled out headed away from the camera (not towards it)

Best to get a toy airplane that has a T-tail and try to mimic the Q400 through the roll - at the blurry frame you have to stop and flip your airplane around

Not a big deal, still love SkyKing.

I'm sure that the event happened, but when I watch (the only video we have of) the barrel roll… it appears to me to be a "discontinuous maneuver"

I used to teach aircraft acrobatic maneuvers - I've done thousands of barrel rolls, Split-S's, etc… I can't reconstruct SkyKing's barrel roll

from the video - it doesn't flow…it appears to be discontinuous

Not trying to take anything away from SkyKing - this is one of my all-time feel-good favorite videos

(to me) it appears he is doing a left barrel roll until 3/4 through, video focus glitches, then instantly he's rolling right
