I just wasted hours trying to redeem points from a credit card I've had for over 20 years. The bank that originally issued it is long gone, changed hands 5 times or so in 40 years.

I had a shit-ton of credit card points, and the points aggregator is still in business. I tried to log in and finally gave up after a couple hours and surprise: A human being answered. I told her of my problem and she asked me the normal security questions and it turns out, that since my bank closed, purchased by a larger conglomerate, my points no longer exist.

35+ years of points. Gone. Poof. Never redeemed a one, never had a chance.

This was a commercial (farm) card. Millions in expenditures accruing points. Gone. Who got them?

>The real question is - who doesnโ€™t redeem their credit card points?

I had this credit card years before the concept of "credit card points" existed. It was only after my local bank had changed hands about 5 times that "points" started to be awarded.

We didn't know it. Never told. It wasn't until decades later when our kids thought that was "normal" that they asked us what points we had. We didn't know what they were talking about. Then we checked and found out we had a gorillion points. Now expired, thank you.
