Part of what makes some sarcasm awesome is precisely because it is so deadpan, so understated…like a great pun simply delivered without a badda boom. Calling too much attention to it kind of ruins it.
But written communication can be very difficult. Maybe if someone is worried that their meaning might be misconstrued they could mark it.
