On June 10, the New York legislature passed S7191/A7761. It says that if two candidates qualify for the primary ballot for district or local office, but one of the candidates is endorsed by the party organization and the other candidate is a new member of the party, the endorsed candidate is the only one who can appear on the primary ballot; the other candidate must be a write-in candidate in that primary.
