I wonder if the script is forcing all these prison releases. Possibly, they are cases built on unconstitutionally gathered evidence because unscrupulous prosecutors don't give a fuck. Anything to move up. Now they need a back story to release them, pressured by budget cuts, and still try to bleach their hands from such a shit narrative.
