A Mary Sue (also known as Sue; Marty Sue, Marty Stu, Mary Stu, or Gary Stu if male) is an unbelievable character that usually is just too good to be true. This is often the end result of someone becoming so obsessed with being part of an nonexistent universe that they simply had to make a character that they can project themselves on to be part of said universe. However, the character always ends up being an overcompensated, overly-perfect wish-fulfillment of the author, inflicting nothing but his or her own arrogance onto the fiction and/or fandom.

Despite being a literary criticism, Mary Sues have managed to invade every medium of entertainment, as nearly every single fictional video game, movie, TV show, and book has at least one, to the point that they have evolved into an entire character archetype.

The term originated from the name of an original character from a Star Trek parody-fic where at the tender age of fifteen-and-a-half, said OC became a Lieutenant, fucked Captain Kirk and Spock, revealed that she was a half-Vulcan, ran the Enterprise after everyone else got sick, nursed them back to health, and then subsequently died.

Contrary to popular belief, Mary Sues existed before the fic; they were just less identifiable back then due to the lack of the internet's accessibility. Ironically, it's also the internetโ€™s fault that the Sue-plague spread, as now any twat with internet-access that believes that she can write a good story has the means to show everyone unfortunate enough to find her godawful fanfic why she hasn't.

Some argue that the best way to identify a Mary Sue is if they suffer no realistic consequences for their actions. For example, if your character is murdering people left and right and doesn't have the fucking military in their pursuit, then it might be time to get new hobby besides creative writing, such as learning how to actually be fucking creative, or prostitution. This makes the character less believable, and the first thing we want to do when we read stories about wizards and aliens is to be cockslapped back to reality.

The worst of these attention-starved suethors will try compensate for this by slapping some sort of bullshit "flaw" in order to get people to stop calling out their literary-abominations for what they are. Coincidentally, these "flaws" often coincide with the author's dislikes due to lazy-as-balls writing (as the hastle to write slashfic with a goddess such as Sparkles Starbeam to Sazuke is too overwhelming). These "flaws" often appear in three flavors:

"Flaws" that can often be used to excuse the Sue's annoying and angsty behavior, such as beating the shit out of a bunch of fak prepz and the teacher looking the other way because "Her mother died when she was young, so it's okay for her to beat them up."

Flaws that aren't flaws, such as "her boobs are TOO big!", or end up being fodder for a Gimp Sue.

Flaws that are lazily slapped on that will never be relevant to the story.

Because so many self-enamored gits write Mary Sues, there are many different kinds of Sues in the world. Trying to list them all would be impossible, but here are a few of the general categories into which a Sue can fall. Feel free to troll, flame, and report the ever-loving shit out of anyone who writes this garbage. Besides, the retards who write this shit have glass egos thus BAW most beautifully when confronted.

Child psychologist Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) is hired to conduct an experimental virtual reality treatment for coma patients: a "Neurological Cartography and Synaptic Transfer System" device managed by doctors Henry West and Miriam Kent (Dylan Baker and Marianne Jean-Baptiste) that allows her to enter a comatose mind and attempt to coax them into consciousness. The technology is funded by the parents of her patient, Edward Baines (Colton James), a young boy left comatose by a viral infection that causes an unusual form of schizophrenia. Despite Deane's lack of progress, West and Kent reject Deane's suggestion to reverse the feed to bring Baines into her mind, fearing the consequences of him experiencing an unfamiliar world.

Serial killer Carl Rudolph Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio) traps his victims in a cell in the form of a glass enclosure that slowly fills with water by means of an automatic timer, then uses a hoist in his basement to suspend himself above their bodies while watching the recorded video of their deaths. He succumbs to the same schizophrenic illness and falls into a coma just as the FBI identifies him, leaving them without any leads as to the location of his latest victim, Julia Hickson (Tara Subkoff). After learning of this experimental technology, Agent Peter Novak (Vince Vaughn) persuades Deane to enter Stargher's mind and discover Hickson's location.

Deane enters the dark dreamscape of Stargher's twisted psyche, filled with doll-like versions of his victims. Stargher's innocent side manifests as Young Stargher (Jake Thomas) and leads Deane through his memories of abuse he suffered at the hands of his sadistic father (Gareth Williams). Deane nurtures Young Stargher in hopes of getting Hickson's location but she is thwarted by another manifestation: King Stargher, a demonic idealization of his murderous side that dominates the dreamscape. King Stargher torments Deane until she forgets the world is not real. Dr. West discovers this while monitoring Deane's vitals. He warns that what happens to Deane while she is integrated into Stargher's mindscape will inflict neurological damage on her real body. Novak volunteers to enter Stargher's mind to make Deane remember herself.

Inside Stargher's mind, Novak is captured and subjected to King Stargher's torture while Deane looks on as Stargher's servant. Novak reminds Deane of a painful memory to reawaken her awareness that she is in Stargher's mind. Deane breaks free of Stargher's hold and stabs King Stargher to free Novak. During their escape, Novak sees a version of the glass enclosure with the same insignia as the hoist in Stargher's basement. Novak's team discovers that after the hoist's previous owner went bankrupt, the government hired Stargher to seal up his property. Novak races to the property and finds Hickson treading water in the enclosure and breathing through a pipe. Novak breaks the glass wall and rescues Hickson.

Deane, now sympathetic to Young Stargher, locks her colleagues out and reverses the feed of the device to pull Stargher's mind into her own. She presents a comforting paradise to Young Stargher but he knows it is only a temporary reprieve from King Stargher. He shifts to Adult Stargher to relate a childhood story of when he drowned an injured bird as a mercy killing to prevent its torture at his father's hands. King Stargher intrudes as a scaly snake-man but this time, Deane is in control and she beats him to a bloody pulp before impaling him with a sword. However, Young Stargher exhibits the same injuries as King Stargher, and killing either manifestation kills Stargher. Adult Stargher reminds her of the story of the bird and implores her to "save" him. Deane carries Young Stargher into a pool, putting him out of his misery as Stargher dies in the real world.

In the aftermath, Deane and Novak meet outside of Stargher's house. The FBI has officially excluded the mind technology from their inquiry and Deane has gotten approval to use the reverse feed on Edward Baines. The final scene is of Baines walking to embrace Deane inside the paradise of Deane's mindscape.[3]

A lucid dream is a type of dream where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming. During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment; however, this is not actually necessary for a dream to be described as lucid.[1][2][3][4] Lucid dreaming has been studied and reported for many years. Prominent figures from ancient to modern times have been fascinated by lucid dreams and have sought ways to better understand their causes and purpose. Many different theories have emerged as a result of scientific research on the subject and have even been shown in pop culture. Further developments in psychological research have pointed to ways in which this form of dreaming may be utilized as a form of sleep therapy. There are two ways to enter lucid dreaming.

Dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD) - Something inside the dream triggers the dreamer to understand that they are dreaming.

Wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD) - The dreamer moves from waking to dreaming with no loss of awareness.[5]

Ooh-ooh

Ooh-ooh

It must've been a wake dream

It must've been a wake dream, I know

I was walking in a place you know

A place where no one seemed to have a care

Hustling here and there all in despair

It must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I said I realized it must've been a wake dream

Ooh-ooh

I was searching for someone to love

Someone who can take me up above

Fly away to places far away

And never have to worry in any way

It must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I said I realized it must've been a wake dream

Ooh-ooh

Then I met a men just passing by

Saying that he'd teach me how to fly

He tried to hypnotize me with his words (ooh-ooh)

He said he'd be the one to save the world

It must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I said I realized it must've been a wake dream

It must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I realized it must've been a wake dream

I said I realized it must've been a wake dream

6 So let's not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let's keep our eyes open and be smart. 7 People sleep at night and get drunk at night. 8 But not us! Since we're creatures of Day, let's act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation. 9 God didn't set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we're awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we're alive with him! 11 So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you'll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you're already doing this; just keep on doing it. 12 And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. 13 Overwhelm them with appreciation and love! 14 Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. 15 And be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out. 16 Be cheerful no matter what;
