Chuck Schumer's office says he's sorry for referring to disabled children as 'retarded'
The office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he is apologetic after he made headlines by referring to disabled children as "retarded" during a recent interview.
The Washington Examiner first reported that Schumer, 70, was asked on the OneNYCHA podcast about an effort in New York to shelter homeless people despite opposition to the plan.
Schumer responded, "I have found that my whole career, I wanted to build, when I first was an assemblyman, they wanted to build a congregant living place for retarded children, and the whole neighborhood was against it."
"These are harmless kids," he added. "They just needed some help. We got it done, [but] it took a while."
As Politico noted, the term "retarded" is "considered outdated and offensive by many, and advocates for people with mental and intellectual disabilities discourage its use."
None of the four hosts of the podcast pushed back or questioned Schumer on his use of the word.
The Sun reported that Schumer's use of the word drew fury online, with critics saying Schumer's use of the slur "shows who he is" and another suggesting his comment reflected "the way dems see homeless kids and their families."
What did Schumer's office say?
A spokesperson for Schumer told the Examiner in a statement reacting to his use of the word:
"For decades, Sen. Schumer has been an ardent champion for enlightened policy and full funding of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He used an inappropriate and outdated word in his description of an effort he supported that was led by the AHRC to build a group home in his Brooklyn district decades ago to provide housing and services to children with developmental disabilities. He is sincerely sorry for his use of the outdated and hurtful language."

Hunter Biden Invested Millions In Chinese Communist Party Firm Operating Nuclear Plant Reportedly Experiencing Leak.
A nuclear power plant believed to be experiencing a leak posing an “imminent radiological threat” is run by China General Nuclear Power Corporation: a state-owned firm that has enjoyed millions of dollars in investment from President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.
Problems at the facility were exposed via a CNN report, which revealed that the plant’s French partner reached out to the White House for assistance:
The warning included an accusation that the Chinese safety authority was raising the acceptable limits for radiation detection outside the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong province in order to avoid having to shut it down, according to a letter from the French company to the US Department of Energy obtained by CNN.
Despite the alarming notification from Framatome, the French company, the Biden administration believes the facility is not yet at a “crisis level,” one of the sources said.
The Biden team’s lack of concern comes as the primary operator of the China-based plant – China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) – counts millions in investment from Hunter Biden.
BHR Partners – the private equity firm where Hunter Biden served as a director since 2013 – was a $10 million cornerstone investor in CGN’s initial public offering. Occurring in 2014, the IPO was the second largest of the entire year, valued at over $3 billion.
The company, which Hunter Biden reportedly retains a sizable stake in, still lists GCN as part of its portfolio on its website.

Defective COVID shots given at Times Square vaccination site
This is not the “experience” New Yorkers want.
The operator of the pop-up COVID vaccination site in the former “NFL Experience” building in Times Square sent out an emergency notice informing 899 patients that it erroneously injected them with expired Pfizer doses.
The patients were told by ATC Healthcare Services that they need to get another shot because the firm “cannot guarantee the effectiveness” of the doses they received.
“We are contacting you concerning the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine you received at Times Square – NFL Experience vaccination site on June 5 to June 10, 2021. It was recognized after the vaccine was administered, that it had been in the freezer beyond the approved time frame prior to it being administered,” David Savitsky said in an email to patients.
A dad of two teen daughters who were given the faulty shots last week was left fuming after getting the email and a phone call from ATC Healthcare about the mix up.
“The guy who called wasn’t even a doctor,” the dad said.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, also wondered how many other patients were given defective doses.
“It’s a 6 day period of time!!!! Nobody noticed?!?!?,” the parent said.
Savitsky said in his email that ATC contacted the city Health Department and the New York City Vaccine Command Center and claimed “there should be no adverse health consequences from the vaccine already received. “
But Savitsky added, “Since we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of the vaccine dose you received, we recommend that it be repeated in order to ensure protection. This vaccine dose administered in error will not count toward a completed vaccine series.”
He said the “repeated dose” can be received right away “in the opposite arm” that got the defective shot.
Patients are required to receive two Pfizer or Moderna doses to be fully protected from the coronavirus. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires one dose.

“When peaceful protesters were teargassed across from the White House, our next speaker stood up, stood strong and turned that place into the Black Lives Matter Plaza in their honor. Please welcome Mayor Muriel Bowser,” Longoria said.
Amazingly, new reports confirm it was Bowser — not Trump — who teargassed the protesters a few blocks away from the White House on the evening in question, that the protests had repeatedly devolved into violence and arson, and that the clearing was done for major security concerns and not a photo opportunity. For more than a year, Bowser allowed Trump to take the blame for what her police forces had done.
In her nationally broadcast speech, Bowser inaccurately called the violent riots — marked by widespread looting, arson of historic buildings, arson of White House buildings, and assaults on scores of police officers — safe and peaceful. Then she blamed Trump for her own police force’s teargassing of protesters.
“[W]hile we were peacefully protesting, Donald Trump was plotting. He stood in front of one of our most treasured houses of worship and held a Bible for a photo op. He sent troops in camouflage into our streets. He sent tear gas into the air and federal helicopters too. I knew if he did this to DC, he would do it to your city or your town, and that’s when I said enough,” she said.
But it was Bowser who “did this to DC,” not Trump.

Canadian doctor suspended from hospital duty for speaking out about vaccine damage to Amer-Indians

LYTTON, British Columbia, May 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — A Canadian family doctor says he has been punished by his local health authority because he raised concerns about side effects he observed in some of those who had received the Moderna COVID-19 jab within his community.
“I am no longer allowed to work in the ER,” British Columbia Dr. Charles Hoffe said, according to a True North News report.
Hoffe added that his suspension from the ER came at the end of April, after his local health authority “suspended” his clinical privileges “for the crime of causing ‘vaccine hesitancy,’ for speaking out about my vaccine injured patients.”
In an April 5 letter, Hoffe had written to British Columbia Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry that he was “quite alarmed at the high rate of serious side effects from this novel treatment,” in reference to Moderna COVID-19 injections given to 900 mostly Indigenous people in Lytton, British Columbia.
Hoffe said he had observed one patient death, “numerous” allergic reactions, along with three individuals who had “disabling” neurological deficits completed with chronic pain, which persisted “for more than 10 weeks after their first vaccine.”
