You haven’t heard a peep from the media after a 39 year old man allegedly shot and wounded five people admitted his targets were racially motivated.
He was targeting white people.
During a preliminary court hearing suspect Justin Tyran Roberts, who is black, told a police detective that white men had wronged him all his life.
“Basically, he explained throughout his life, specifically white males had taken from him, and also what he described as military-looking white males had taken from him,” Detective Brandon Lockhart testified.
Roberts is being accused of shooting five people in three separate assaults in Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. There is no evidence that Roberts knew any of his victims, one man was shot in the back while getting into his vehicle.
Roberts claimed that the men were “shooting at him in a wooded area with a slingshot.” Police found no wounds or infections to substantiate his claim.
Roberts public defender Robin King is asking for a mental health evaluation claiming her client is suffering from delusions.
“The officer’s testimony has demonstrated that Mr. Roberts is having delusions and a disconnect from reality,” King told the judge.
TLDR: Blacks can't be charged with a hate crime even if the crime is racially motivated.
