Today in Florida history

June 15th,1822

The City of Jacksonville was founded today.

In 1821 Georgia plantation owner Isaiah D. Hart moved to the narrowest spot of the St. Johns River, the "ford" where the cattle and horses could cross, known as "Cowford." The area had only just been purchased by the United States from Spain and Isaiah Hart realized the name "Cowford" would not do. He and other landowners in the area drafted a letter to Secretary of State Martin Van Buren requesting the new town of "Jacksonville" be recognized as a viable river port. This letter, dated June 15, 1822, was the first time the name Jacksonville had ever been recorded.

On this site in 1822 Hart laid out the plans for the town of Jacksonville, which he named after General Andrew Jackson, a national hero at the time who later became president.

Newsmax actually wrote "transgender girls" in this post.

The Irony! What does that even mean?

Is it the opposite of "transgender boys"?
