can't remember the exposure times, but it was long, sometimes minutes depending on the set up. They also had to use plates, and film was not till much later. Not saying they are not brothermen, but they often did have to pose in static positions for long times, so hands in jackets is a possibility, again not saying its not secret hand bs, but there are reasonable reasons. They also used to have neck braces for people so their heads would not wobble. smiles same issue, Its why they all look sad all the time. You start getting double exposures if they move which is what they partially used to show ghost photography early on as well as early "photoshopping"
