A man, who threw a grenade near the Tavria V supermarket in Ukraine has been arrested. Five people were injured as the device went off, and the perp now faces between 10 years and life in prison.
Ten days ago, Joe Manchin stood up for the filibuster. He wrote an op-ed in the local paper that drew national attention. He was a profile in courage, which is a senator who is willing to stand up to his party's bosses. I even called him that.
But that was then. This is now.
Instead of supporting the filibuster, Manchin now is saying let's make a deal. While they called Byrd the lion of the Senate, Manchin is the Wayne Brady (or if you prefer, Monty Hall) of the Senate.
Manchin did a Zoom call with donors and officials with No Labels, the group that seeks to work out deals between Democrats and Republicans.
The Intercept, a lefty site that opposes compromise, reported, "Manchin urged big-money donors with No Labels to talk to Sen. Roy Blunt about flipping his vote on the commission in order to save the filibuster."

DC Elects Incarcerated Murderer To Office In Nation’s Capital
Washington, DC – An inmate at the DC Jail on Tuesday became the first incarcerated person ever elected to office in the nation’s capital.
Joel Caston was elected on Jun 15 to be the advisory neighborhood commissioner for District 7F07, which includes the correctional facility, a women’s shelter, and a recently-opened luxury apartment building, NBC News reported.
Caston, 44, has been incarcerated for 26 years.
He was locked up at 18 for the murder of 18-year-old Rafiq Washington, whom he was convicted of shooting in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant in DC, The Washington Post reported.
