Of course.

And as they stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back.

Some of the most important people to have the undivided attention of is the agents of the surveillence state. The thing about humans is that they empathize. This has been show time and time again in hostage scenarios, where the criminal and hostage form mutual bonds and empathy.

In all honesty, they require the greatest amount of assistance through these times, as they are under the greatest psychological strain as normal, functional people increasingly become the targets of an increasingly capricious state.

What "they" forget is that projection is essential. Nobles and the like could be convinced to be cruel to the peasantry by buying their attention and isolating them from the public. The surveillence state flips this around and places many of those in the government in direct exposure to the public and how it works.

And they are learning that their leaders are evil and the system perverted to their ends.

There is more pushback within the system than there appears from the outside. Human nature is something of a set of laws of physics in and of themselves. All of what is occurring is well within anticipated trajectories and believe it or not, we are on the more favorable of trends.

Their lists will go from highlighting security risks to being security and civic experts.

It is why I bask in their attention. The more they read from me, the more they research, the more they understand - that the world will pass away, and still the truth of my words will survive.

Well, some of them. There are others who have committed themselves to living in a world ruled by vampires. However, what they do not understand is the heart of those who still realize they were, once, human.
