Pence, working with the RNC establishment, had to be concerned with a Trump family dynasty going forward, IMO. That would mean, if true, that there was no path to to POTUS for him if he didn't allow certification on Jan 6, and subsequently, Trump cleaned house in his 2nd term.

OTOH, is he too dumb to figure out that any outfit that can steal a landslide election, can damn well make sure Pence himself would never win?

So, basically, best political future would have been to assist Trump in cleaning up.
