We sit here trusting the plan because we're mostly too apathetic/lazy/mentally ill/all of the above to mount any serious resistance in the first place, and that's assuming we have the willpower or even desire to act in the first place, which is almost certainly not the case since we're discussing people who have sat online for 4 or more years.
