I believe to pray is to think really fucking hard, as hard as you can muster, about what the right thing to do is. I don’t mean right-feeling, I mean right in a deeper sense.
Or, for things that aren’t about what you need to do, at least immediately, to search for the truth using all available mental energy, even if it leads you where you’d rather not go. I also believe prayer is being willing to look at things that scare the shit out of some part of you.
