We recently returned to the lovely little city of Peterborough, Ont., where the local constabulary take a very dim view of any sort of merriment in this day and age of COVID-19. You might recall our previous trip to Peterborough in April. We were there to cover an anti-lockdown protest staged at Confederation Square.

Shamefully, speakers such as PPC leader Maxime Bernier and Ontario MPP Randy Hillier were issued tickets by the Peterborough cops for… well, um, that’s a very good question. Last time we checked, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly were still enshrined rights in Canada — even during a pandemic. Heck, just ask the Peterborough police, whose members took a knee at this very same square last summer in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

Yes, it’s all so very confusing, isn’t it?

And get this: several weeks after the Peterborough anti-lockdown event, I was served with a summons at my personal residence. Which is odd, given that I was not an organizer nor a speaker nor even an attendee. I was just there as a journalist covering the proceedings, and again, last time I checked, freedom of the press was still a thing in Canada — even during a pandemic.

But things went from odd to downright bat-shite surreal when I was later served disclosure, where the “evidence” of my crimes was duly noted. Which is to say, Staff Sgt. Dan Maclean noted that I had been spotted “shaking hands” and — wait for it — “laughing” on several occasions. Heck, Staff Sgt. Maclean even provided photographic evidence of my hand-shaking and laughing crimes against humanity. He even submitted my driving abstract.

Did you know, folks, that back in 1981 I was nabbed for doing 60 km/h in a 50 km/h zone? Oh, the humanity!

In any event, we thought we would drop by to check out the filming of a Murdoch Mysteries episode in Peterborough.

Alas, given that this is a CBC show, I’ve never seen a single episode, but I’m told that it takes place in Toronto in the 1890s. Ah, the 1890s! A time when shops were actually open in good ol’ Hogtown and a patron could enter such shops without having to don a face-diaper.

Anyway, we have it on good authority that the script called for some of the actors to actually shake hands. And laugh. And we certainly saw outbursts of laughter by the crew members on site — along with a few raised middle fingers aimed at me and my cameraman, Syd. All of which is very odd, given that Murdoch Mysteries is a CBC production, which means Syd and I and millions of other Canadians are involuntarily funding this show via our tax dollars. So, when you think of it, we are actually stakeholders, not interlopers. But I digress…

In any event, we felt it was our civic duty to reimagine ourselves as a couple of COVID-Karens and rat out this production to the cops. I mean, hand-shaking? Laughing? That’s super-spreader stuff according to the Peterborough Police Service, isn’t it?

But alas, the Peterborough cops would not come to the set to issue tickets or even investigate. Gee, maybe they’re fans of Murdoch Mysteries? It is a show about law enforcement, after all…

Bottom line: yet again, when it comes to COVID crimes, it would appear that it is one law for thee, one law for me.

Golly, just where is Detective William Murdoch of the Toronto Constabulary when you really need him?

Alberta sparing no expense in effort to prosecute Mom's Diner for $1,200

The Alberta government is wasting thousands of dollars to fight a restaurant in court to potentially squeeze a measly $1,200 in lockdown fines out of the small business.

As I was rolling into their parking lot to tell the story of owners, Wes and Leslie Langois, the local authorities and Alberta Health Services were at the front door of Mom's Diner, ticketing them for opening their doors to customers after the Alberta government ordered them closed.

Six government officials were in court to square off against the Williamson Law team, costing tens of thousands of dollars. And that's just one case in one courtroom.

The government has issued hundreds, maybe thousands, of these fines. The Alberta government is sparing no expense to prosecute small business owners and families who are already financially crippled by the lockdown — people the government has left with so little to lose they are risking it all.

Williamson calls it “prosecution of the poor.”

Governments all across the country are using limitless resources to squash people who stand up to the lockdowns. These lockdown fighters can't do it alone.

SHAME ON SHANDRO: Pastors jailed while lockdown hypocrites break their own rules

Pastor Tim Stephens in still in jail. His family is without their husband and father. A congregation is without their shepherd. This isn’t the first time he has been locked away either, and in both instances the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms insists that his arrests have been illegal. The heart-rending videos of both arrests made international news.

There have no cases of COVID traced to Fairview Baptist Church, and many have concluded that Pastor Tim is being left in jail for political reasons.

Reports confirmed as much, in fact numerous outlets specifically named Health Minister Tyler Shandro as the man who ordered the arrest of targeted individuals who dared to question the overbearing COVID restrictions.

Elected officials enacting targeted enforcement to intimidate and set examples does not sit well with us, so we came up with a plan…

But before we get to that, we also want to remind you of another Christian who was allegedly targeted by Tyler Shandro. Pastor Artur Pawlowski became and international hero after he ejected police and Alberta Health Services from his church when they attempted to interrupt worship. The authorities were not about to tolerate such strong opposition, and Pastor Artur was arrested in a dramatic roadside arrest which went viral.

Many more have suffered at the hands of government officials, like Tyler Shandro, who violate the COVID restrictions without consequence, as evidenced by the Sky Palace debacle.

The double standards are shameful. The targeted discrimination is shameful. Shame on Tyler Shandro.

We couldn’t stand idly by while “thin-skinned despots” bully and jail pastors, business owners and citizens. Tyler Shandro doesn’t get a free pass.

Military collected information on Canadians and conducted propaganda: report

Senior Canadian military officials now admit that they improperly collected the information of Canadians with the intent of using propaganda techniques on the general population.

A report from earlier this year revealed that senior military commanders oversaw an operation which accessed the social media information of ordinary citizens including those who attended Black Lives Matter rallies.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, these activities broke the rules overseeing the military and the officials involved didn’t have the authority to conduct such a program.

“Errors conducted during domestic operations and training, and sometimes insular mindsets at various echelons, have eroded public confidence in the institution,” claimed a document signed by acting Chief of the Defence Staff Lt.-Gen. Wayne Eyre and Deputy Minister Jody Thomas.

“This included the conduct of IO (information operations) on a domestic operation without explicit CDS/DM (Chief of Defence Staff/Deputy Minister) direction or authority to do so, as well as the unsanctioned production of reports that appeared to be aimed at monitoring the activities of Canadians.”

A military investigation into the program revealed a plan by the Canadian Joint Operations Command to employ propaganda techniques to dissuade civil disobedience was never requested by Ottawa.

“Teams contravened requirements by not conducting a risk assessment prior to conducting activities on the internet and they collected Canadian citizen information without our explicit direction,” Eyre and Thomas admitted.

The revelations come as several senior members of the military including retired Gen. Jonathan Vance are facing sexual misconduct allegations.

Most recently, Liberal Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan fired one of his assistants after it was revealed that he was suspended from the Vancouver Police Department for having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.

Gen. Vance is facing similar accusations regarding a multi-year relationship with somebody he outranked. He has since denied the allegations.

John McAfee was found dead in a Spanish prison cell on Wednesday, but the letter “Q” was posted to his Instagram account hours after his death.

McAfee’s wife, Janice, is believed to have posted to his accounts for him while he was imprisoned — but it is currently unclear who has access or posted the cryptic “Q.”

The death of the 76-year-old outspoken political activist and anti-virus software pioneer is currently being reported as a suicide, however, he has frequently claimed that if he dies by suicide it was the government. Earlier in the day, Spain’s National Court approved a request for his extradition back to the US.

On Thursday John McAfee’s widow spoke to reporters. Janice McAfee blamed US authorities for his death.

Janice McAfee: “John McAfee was not suicidal. I spoke with him a few hours before he was found dead… I blame the US authorities for this tragedy. Because of these politically-motivated charges against him my husband is now dead. His last words to me were, “I love you and I will call you in the evening.” Those words are not words of someone who is suicidal. All ‘Jo’ wanted to do was spend his remaining years fishing and drinking. He did not deserve to die in a filthy prison like a caged animal… He would never quit this way. He would never take his life in this way. I don’t believe he did this and I will get answers.”

Hungary Told To Repeal Law Banning LGBT Promotion To Children "Or Else Leave EU"

EU leadership is now fanatically dictating that Hungary and its 'defiant' prime minister Vickor Orban must bow the knee to the Pride Flag or else "must leave" the European Union.

Quoting Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, The Telegraph describes massive pushback against a new Hungarian law which seeks to prevent the public promotion of homosexuality and transgenderism in front of children and minors:

Mark Rutte, the prime minister of the Netherlands, said Hungary either "must leave" the EU or repeal the law, which bans TV shows and other content seen as championing LGBT lifestyles for the under-18s.

However, some eastern European governments refused to join 17 of the bloc’s 27 countries in a rare joint statement condemning a fellow member state.

Other EU leaders, like European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, have been claiming that the law actively discriminates against LGBT people.

However, defenders of the Hungarian law have pointed out it puts decision-making on presenting these issues to children in the hands of parents and family members. Orban himself, for example, said the law and policy is fundamentally about "defending the rights of the kids and the parents" and is not about discrimination.

Orban said this week at the summit: “Homosexuality was punished, and I fought for their freedom and their rights,” concluding that "I am defending the rights of the homosexual guys. But this law is not about that."

But the EU summit which met this is acting as if it's a declaration of war on human rights, and is vowing to respond accordingly:

Is The West Strategically Reorganizing To Fight Communist China?

Recently, three major summits in the Western world—those of the G-7 (Group of Seven), NATO, and the U.S.–EU—have been held back-to-back, highlighting a significant strategic shift to confront the systemic threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). If 2020 was a year marked by a pandemic ravaging the world and the emergence of a new Cold War between the United States and China, 2021 will be one in which a strategic reorganization is being forged in the West to fight communist China.

Since the start of 2021, the CCP has become more bluntly assertive in advancing its global ambitions—by confronting the United States for hegemony at the United Nations, proclaiming that “time and momentum” is on its side and that “the East is rising and the West is declining,” and behaving in an increasingly more belligerent manner through its so-called “wolf warrior” diplomacy. The CCP’s assertive rhetoric and behavior have greatly accelerated the formation of a consensus among Western countries to counter its ambition to dominate the world, prompting the West to begin a comprehensive strategic reorganization toward Beijing.

On June 10, the New Atlantic Charter was signed by President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, pledging to work together to defend democracy and the rules-based international order.

This was immediately followed by the communiqués issued at the G-7 summit on the June 13, the NATO summit on June 14, and the U.S.–EU summit on June 15, outlining the main framework for the strategic reorganization to confront the major threats posed by the CCP.

CCP’s Escalated Provocations Against Taiwan

Since early 2021, the CCP’s military provocations in the Taiwan Strait have increased significantly, and so has the risk of war in the region. Led by the United States, Western countries have repeatedly spoken out jointly in response and have strengthened their military presence in the Taiwan Strait, East China Sea, South China Sea, and Indo-Pacific to contain the CCP’s military adventures.

The G-7, NATO, and the U.S.–EU summits held just a week ago, plus the U.S.–Japan summit on April 16, the U.S.–South Korea summit on May 21, the Japan–Europe summit on May 27, and the Japan–Australia 2+2 talks on June 9, all raised the Taiwan Strait issue and reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability in the region. The strategic pressure from the CCP to wage war against democratic Taiwan has increased as never before. This indicates that the Taiwan issue has now risen to the level of a weather vane shaping the evolution of the global strategic landscape.

‘Systemic Challenges’ to the West

In its communiqué, NATO listed the CCP as a systemic threat for the first time, saying that its overt “ambitions and assertive behavior present systemic challenges to the rules-based international order and to areas relevant to Alliance security.”

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called the summit a “crucial moment” for the organization, calling on member countries to confront the rise of China.

While urging NATO to revamp its strategic approach to confront the Chinese communist threat, the United States is also promoting the Indo-Pacific Strategy, or the Quad, and strengthening the U.S.–Japan and U.S.–South Korea military alliance. This indicates that the military coalition among democratic countries is deepening.

Economic and Technological Challenges

The West has to deal with not only the CCP’s military provocations but also its economic and technological challenges. In order to ensure that the CCP does not use various illicit means to overtake the West while the world undergoes a digital transformation, it is necessary to strengthen coordination and integration based on shared values, as stated in the joint statement (pdf) of the U.S.–EU Summit: “We resolve to drive digital transformation that spurs trade and investment, strengthens our technological and industrial leadership, boosts innovation, and protects and promotes critical and emerging technologies and infrastructure. We plan to cooperate on the development and deployment of new technologies based on our shared democratic values, including respect for human rights, and that encourages compatible standards and regulations.”

In addition, the statement said, “To kick-start this positive agenda and to provide an effective platform for cooperation, we establish a high-level EU–U.S. Trade and Technology Council (TTC).”

In this regard, several positive developments have already taken place during the recent summits. For example, the United States and the European Union reached an agreement to stop the long-standing punitive trade tariffs over the Airbus–Boeing dispute, and agreed to confront “non-market economy countries.” Meanwhile, Canada and the EU also launched a new partnership to secure supply chains for critical minerals and reduce reliance on China.

B3W to Counter CCP’s BRI

Since the CCP launched its global infrastructure development strategy through the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI, also known as One Belt, One Road) in 2013, many countries have been mired in debt and corruption. The G-7 summit agreed to launch a new global infrastructure initiative called Build Back Better World (B3W), a major-democracies-led, high-standard, value-driven, transparent infrastructure partnership to help narrow the financial gap in the over $40 trillion infrastructure need in developing countries. This was the first strategic response from the West to the CCP’s BRI.

Irreconcilable Differences Between Authoritarianism and Democracy

The irreconcilable difference between the CCP’s authoritarian ideology and democratic values must lead to a fundamental confrontation between the CCP and the West.

On June 15, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that China’s record on human rights is the main issue that divides the EU from Beijing and makes the communist regime a systemic rival for the democratic bloc.

For his part, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said that the worldview differences between Australia and the CCP may never be resolved.

Aim to secure supply chains for critical minerals and metals key to green technology

Canada and the European Union launched a new partnership to secure supply chains for critical minerals and reduce dependence on China in a push for jobs and to counter climate change.

“With EU partners, we talked about what we can do to build a cleaner economy for years to come,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters on Tuesday after meeting with EU chiefs in Brussels. “To begin with, in order to continue creating good, green jobs for the middle class, we must secure supply chains for critical minerals and metals that are essential for things like electric car batteries.”

Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, mentioned China.

“We as Europeans want to diversify our imports away from producers like China because we want more sustainability, less environmental damage and we want transparency on raw materials,” von der Leyen said, speaking alongside Trudeau.

It has become passé to quote Orwell's 1984 in any context, especially that it was not intended as a "how to" manual.

For those who have shunned this genre as unworthy from a sense of intellectual superiority, I would first suggest Robert A. Heinlein.

Hanlon's razor dates back to "Doc" in "Logic of Empire." The character Doc in Heinlein's story described the "devil theory" fallacy, explaining, "You have attributed conditions to villainy that simply result from stupidity."

In Starship Troopers, Heinlein advances the concept of only military veterans having the right to vote — a concept that will trigger much angst but probably not much rational debate. I would translate his idea into the fact that he believed that you have to have skin in the game. Does something have value if you do not have to do anything to get it?

Let us take a look at Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, where citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy. Dr. S. Matthew Liao, a professor of philosophy and bioethics at New York University, during a 2016 panel discussion, proposed the potential use of genetic engineering and hormone therapy that could result in birthing smaller, less resource-needy children. If we make them 15% smaller, they will need 15% less resources from the planet and thus save us from extinction.

Now let us look at a favorite from my lost youth, John Christopher, The Death of Grass (No Blade of Grass) in 1956. A virus that starts in the Far East…wipes out rice. It then mutates — where have you heard this — and takes on the rest of the grass family — wheat, barley etc. It is the story of one man trying to reach his brother's potato farm in an isolated valley in the north of England. There is a very biblical ending for the brothers as this tale devolves into the savagery that can occur so easily in our complex society.

In my limited intellectual way, I found that these novels are about good and evil.

Assessing the situation today with respect to COVID, I must ask, is there a villain?

Recently, little tidbits have dribbled out about altered gene sequencing in viruses. The term "gain of function" is creeping into the lexicon. We have learned that gain-of-function research, although banned in the continental U.S., has been carried out in China, funded by the U.S. government.

Why and for what purpose? Is it villainy or stupidity, with a dash of arrogance?

How does this fit into their business model? Check their net worth change versus yours.

Who knew, and what is their goal? They are the philosopher-kings of Plato's Republic, not the republic envisioned in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

Life is not a dystopian novel…yet.

"I'm Totally Screwed": Western Digital Tells Customers To Unplug Web-Connected Hard Drives After Data Mysteriously Deleted

Hard drive manufacturer Western Digital recommended that My Disk external hard drive owners unplug them from the internet until further notice, after a flood of customers complained in a support forum that all their data had been mysteriously deleted, according to Ars Technica.

"I have a WD mybook live connected to my home LAN and worked fine for years," wrote the person who started the thread. "I have just found that somehow all the data on it is gone today, while the directories seems there but empty. Previously the 2T volume was almost full but now it shows full capacity."

"All my data is gone too," another user responded. "I am totally screwed without that data… years of it."

Multiple users reported that the data loss coincided with a factory reset that was performed on their devices. One person posted a log that showed unexplained behavior occurring on Wednesday:

While the standard My Book storage device connects to computers via USB, the My Book Live uses an ethernet cable to access the local network, from which owners can access their files remotely and make configuration changes through the Western Digital cloud. The company stopped supporting the product in 2015.

In response to the forum thread, Western Digital advised customers to disconnect their My Book Live devices while the company investigates.

The incident is under active investigation from Western Digital. We do not have any indications of a breach or compromise of Western Digital cloud services or systems.

We have determined that some My Book Live devices have been compromised by a threat actor. In some cases, this compromise has led to a factory reset that appears to erase all data on the device. The My Book Live device received its final firmware update in 2015.

At this time, we are recommending that customers disconnect their My Book Live devices from the Internet to protect their data on the device.

Ars Technica suggests that "Reading between the lines, Western Digital’s statement seems to be saying that customer accounts were individually compromised. The advice to unplug devices while the investigation continues is warranted, and users should follow it as soon as possible."

"It is very scary and devastating that someone can do factory restore on my drive without any permission granted from the end user," wrote one user. "I need a remedy to this issue immediately as this is already incurring a great cost to me."

Are We Overdosing On "Hopium"?

Almost none of what happens today is a surprise to me because it’s been bragged about for generations. After many years of learning about their agendas and conspiracies, this is the world as I see it. So take it with as many grains of salt as you wish.

As a prepper, a stoic view of reality is necessary to see reality for what it is at present. And it is essential to learn how it got to this point and predict what direction it will take in the future. We can then be adequately reactive and proactive in adapting and overcoming what is and what will happen.

Overdosing on “hopium” or succumbing to normalcy bias can be detrimental to the point of suicide.

Naturally, it would benefit us if rosy assessments of the current reality were accurate or confirmed in the end. No one, least of all me, wants to live on a giant slave planet where the masses of humanity are so inured, so helplessly dependent on the system, that they willfully submit to enslavement. The fact of the matter is, they’re moving quickly now because they’ve previously underestimated how firm their grasp is on the minds of humanity.

I’m not sure if anyone can say what percentage or how many tens or even hundreds of thousands of small businesses shuttered under government orders and never opened again. Anyone who had to work, who didn’t have the luxury of sitting on their couch soaking up 24/7 news coverage while raking in far more in unemployment than they earned working, saw the hypocrisy of being forced to shut down. At the same time, Walmart and the big corporations were declared “essential” and remained open, yet they closed down anyway.

We all knew if they and their customers had each others’ backs and said “NO” en masse, there would be nothing the government could do except pound sand.

The heroes who did say no were quickly singled out to be viciously harassed, fined, and often destroyed. Whether the people believe the current scam du jour, their belief in authority, their identity as a “law-abiding citizen” is a yoke that will cripple them every time. Disobeying even the most vicious and unlawful edict is unthinkable to them.

Domestic banks like Bank of Montreal and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce are also changing their approach to the energy industry

Calgary, the center of Canada’s oil and gas industry, has lost senior investment bankers from Morgan Stanley, Barclays Plc and Citigroup Inc., a signal of banks’ new approach to the energy sector and declining deal flow.

The departures reflect a variety of forces, including a shrinking pool of major oil producers in the city and global banks’ heightened focus on renewable energy, as well as their own environmental metrics. Canadian banks have been more willing to provide credit to the country’s energy firms than their international rivals, and are therefore winning other business too, said Adam Dean, president of Dean Executive Search in Toronto.

“If they decide to deploy credit, they get the ancillary business like the M&A transaction advisory fees much more easily,” Dean, whose firm specializes in finding candidates for financial jobs, said in an interview. “So it became a bit of a tale of two cities, between the U.S. and global firms operating in Calgary versus the Canadians.”

Greg Saksida, hired by Citigroup from Toronto-Dominion Bank in January 2019, left the firm earlier this year and his role isn’t being directly replaced, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Morgan Stanley closed its Calgary investment banking office this year, and Denis Rajotte, who led that office, is no longer with the bank, according to people familiar with the matter.

Dan Blitt, who worked for Barclays’s investment banking operations in Calgary for almost 14 years, left in January and started in a new job at TC Energy Corp. in May, according to his LinkedIn page. The bank isn’t backfilling Blitt’s role with another senior banker, though it continues to hire junior bankers in Calgary, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Representatives for Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Barclays declined to comment.

Equity sales, a key driver of underwriting fees in the oil patch, have slowed to a trickle in Calgary. The value of primary and secondary share offerings from Canada’s oil and gas, oilfield-service and pipeline companies shrank to US$486.1 million last year, about 2.6 per cent of the volume from 2016, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Perhaps more importantly, those companies were buyers in US$13.7 billion of deals announced last year, less than one-fifth of the US$74.5 billion in deals announced in 2016.

“M&A is the biggest driver,” said Lara Zink, president and chief executive officer of Women in Capital Markets in Toronto. “If you don’t have a view to any of the big Canadian energy companies looking to do M&A in the U.S. or globally, there really isn’t a lot of incentive to keep people on the ground.”

Energy Transition

The deal pace has rebounded so far this year, with Canada’s oil and gas-related companies involved as buyers in US$21.5 billion of announced deals, highlighted by Pembina Pipeline Corp.’s battle with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP to take over of Inter Pipeline Ltd.

Domestic banks like Bank of Montreal and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce are also changing their approach to the energy industry. BMO last year wound down its U.S. oil and gas investment banking business to focus on Canada. The bank earlier this month said it’s forming an energy-transition group in its capital markets business that will draw on sector specialists from its energy, power utilities and infrastructure and industrials groups, among others.

CIBC in April said its oil and gas investment banking team was among those being folded into a new global energy, infrastructure and transition group.

‘Flip-Flop’

European banks have faced even more pressure on environmental issues. Barclays has faced shareholder votes for the past two years over winding down its lending to fossil fuel companies, for instance.

“The business of investment banking in the energy space more broadly is moving toward energy transition,” Dean said. “The U.S. firms and the global firms are moving away from the traditional E&P advisory business.”

However, Calgary has been through booms and busts before, and global banks’ interest and presence in the region has ebbed and flowed over the years, Zink said.

“It’s a highly cyclical business, and the U.S. banks have frequently entered and re-entered the market over several decades,” Zink said. “Many of the U.S. banks feel like they can service Calgary out of New York or Houston, but they flip-flop in terms of whether they have bankers on the ground.”

Make-A-Wish Foundation CEO Richard Davis has announced in a video that they will only be helping vaccinated terminally ill children.

Children and any relatives accompanying them to get their wish will all need to have been fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior.

We spent two days driving around Calgary in our Shame on Shandro billboard truck drawing attention to the double standards and hypocrisy of politicians in Alberta. You will likely recall that Tyler Shandro was caught allegedly violating COVID restrictions in the Sky Palace.

He faced no consequence for his actions, despite the fact that his Health portfolio's COVID rules have swept up others, including Pastor Artur Pawlowksi and Pastor Tim Stephens, to name a few.

Thousands saw the Shame on Shandro truck as we crisscrossed the city. We made frequent stops to get reactions from people, both to the arrest of pastors and to the lack of consequences for Shandro and others in Jason Kenney’s inner circle. Many were appalled that a pastor would be arrested for gathering to worship, others seemed to relish the idea, particularly in the more ‘progressive’ parts of the city.

The vast majority agreed that the double standard of politicians facing no penalties while pastors and business owners face fines and jail was an injustice.

Despite the arrests of numerous pastors in Calgary making headlines worldwide, shockingly, many Calgarians were not even aware that a pastor is currently being held in jail.

Things have become so dire that Missouri Senator Josh Hawley called on the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom to consider adding Canada to their watch list. Senator Hawley mentioned the arrest of Pastor Tim Stephens and our footage of the arrest in his letter of concern.

Canadians react to Ontario's reopening plan

With the economy slowly starting to open back up in Ontario, it seems Canadian spirits are the highest they have been in the past 15 months since the pandemic was declared. On June 11th, the province of Ontario entered the first stage of its re-opening plan. This is now the third time we are coming out of a lockdown and hopefully the beginning of the end to this bad dream.

Fellow cameraman Mocha Bezirgan and I made our way down to the Harbourfront in Toronto the to get an idea on how people feel when it comes to the Ontario Government's re-opening plan.

We wanted to find out if people believe that this time the government is going to stick to its plan of re-opening the economy and whether or not non-vaccinated Canadians will be heavily restricted on what they can or can't do compared to vaccinated people.

These are truly unprecedented times and it's impossible to pin-point exactly what's in store for us.

I think I speak for most Canadians when I say that we are getting tired of this constant back and forth between locking down and opening up the economy.

I'm a flat earthier and find it hard to believe anything Sir Isaak A Newton has to say but I will look into it. He is definitely worth a look in too!
