On July 1, thousands of Canadians gathered in Vancouver to celebrate Canada Day.

The gatherings also coincided with phase 3 British Columbia's re-opening plan, which meant protest or not, there were no restrictions on who could and could not gather together for the first time in what seems like an eternity.

That included an impressive lineup of musicians and performers that were allowed to bless a cheerful crowd of 3,000 people at its peak, with their talented performances.

Yet, even civil liberties such as dancing and having a good time with others have been restricted for close to two years, some groups and politicians promoted cancelling the celebration of Canada Day, to reflect upon the location of unmarked gravesites near residential schools like Kamloops Indian residential school.

I interviewed many of the artists who performed at the Canada Day Music Festival that was organized by The Freedom Group.

I asked them how the last 16 months of lockdown restrictions have impacted their musical careers, and I also ask them why they thought it was still okay to celebrate Canada when many groups like Idle No More called to have it cancelled.

Bill C-10 dies – for now – as Senate adjourns for summer without vote

The Liberal government’s internet regulation Bill C-10 has been put on hold after the Senate rose for the summer before voting on the controversial bill.

On Tuesday, the Senate decided to rise for the summer break, immediately halting all outstanding legislation which had not been passed.

If an election is called before Bill C-10 is reintroduced, the bill will die and a future government would have to introduce it again.

Bill C-10 passed its third reading in the House of Commons Tuesday morning by a vote of 196 to 112: only the Conservatives and independents Jody Wilson-Raybould and Derek Sloan opposed it.

If passed, Bill C-10 would have significant implications on internet freedom, as the bill gives the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) unprecedented power to regulate online publishers, including social media users.

Despite the Liberals’ efforts to push C-10 into law, the upper house refused to speed up the process. Both progressive and Conservative senators offered various criticisms of C-10, many saying they would not vote in favour.

On Tuesday, Senator Pamela Wallin pledged to stall C-10 until the summer recess could be called, saying the upper house is not obligated to pass government legislation without proper debate.

“The government has had six years to pass legislation it wants. It is not our job in the Senate to rubber stamp and give up our constitutional responsibilities just because they want fodder for an election- especially if it means killing free speech,” she said.

Conservative Senator Leo Housakos told CBC that the Senate had no interest in rushing through a bill which, in his opinion, gives unlimited power to a government body to control the content Canadians can see online.

“The core problem with this bill is that it takes the regulatory tools designated for a small, fixed number of licensed TV and radio stations in the 1990s and attempts to apply it to the vast universe of the internet in the 2020s,” he said.

“In doing so, it gives the CRTC an unprecedented delegation of power with no clear framework or definitions as to how it will be used. This lack of clear limits on what can be regulated is a fundamental problem with this bill.”

Xi Jinping pledges “reunification” with Taiwan

Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed to “smash” any attempts by Taiwan at formal independence and pledged to complete “reunification” with the democratic country.

“Solving the Taiwan question and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland are the unswerving historical tasks of the Chinese Communist Party and the common aspiration of all Chinese people,” Xi said during a ceremony commemorating the 100th birthday of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on Thursday.

“All sons and daughters of China, including compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, must work together and move forward in solidarity, resolutely smashing any ‘Taiwan independence’ plots.”

In response to Xi’s remarks, Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council says the CCP is a dictatorship that has trampled on people’s freedoms and should embrace democracy.

“Its historical decision-making errors and persistent harmful actions have caused serious threats to regional security,” it added.

“Our government’s determination to firmly defend the nation’s sovereignty and Taiwan’s democracy and freedom and to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait remains unchanged.”

While Taiwan considers itself an independent nation and has rejected the “one China principle,” the Chinese regime has increased efforts to assert its claim of Taiwan in recent months. In June, Beijing sent a record number of Chinese jets into the Taiwan air defence zone.

Critics of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have called on the Canadian government to do more to support Taiwan.

A Politico report earlier this year suggested that the Liberals attempted to prevent an international award from being awarded to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.

Following the report’s publication, the government reversed course and Taiwan was awarded the Halifax International Security Forum’s John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service.

Actress Kirstie Alley Warns Hollywood Is Putting Society on a Path to Accept Pedophilia: ‘Protect Your Children’

Actress Kirstie Alley issued a dire warning on Friday, noting that children are being exposed to “everything perverse on every kind of screen” and cautioning that Hollywood is conditioning society to be so “open minded” that it will soon “support” pedophilia as “just loving children.”

Was watching TV …we’ve gone too far in my opinion. I feel sorry for our children. Their exposure to everything perverse on every kind of screen is mind boggling. And even more tragic, it’s being hyped as ‘normal,’” the Cheers star wrote.

“No other generation has had such easy access to the underbelly of humanity. SO many screens & chronic bombardment of images and concepts. Our current society would have been praising Caligula. Protect your children,” she continued in the series of tweets to her 1.5 million Twitter followers, confessing to have a “heavy heart” over what she described as the “shit that’s being crammed down our kid’s throats.”

“A ‘moral code’ is not old fashioned. Morals are simply guidelines for better survival. Explicit sexual ‘education’ and ‘select’ ideals being forced on kids is NOT better survival,” the Trump-supporting actress said before warning that society is on the path to accepting pedophilia.

“People are becoming so ‘open minded’ that down the road they will support pediphilia [sic] as people ‘just loving children’ You think I’m kidding. I’m not. It’s the direction this insanity is headed. You can ‘ok boomer’ me all you want but this is where we will veer unless we change,” Alley cautioned.

The Look Who’s Talking Now star faced some backlash on Twitter and publicly responded to some of her critics.

“My generation had zero public sex talk and zero sex education. In ‘health’ class we did learn about ‘periods’.. sort of. But I can honestly say sex came fairly naturally when the occasion arose,” she continued, later adding, “I love the way the twisty twists twist my fears about CHILDREN’s futures into I’m against ADULTS having their choice of partners. Funny how all roads lead to that. I could care less who adults love or sleep with. My topic today was children being exposed to dark things.”

Alley’s warning comes as major TV networks ramp up their display of what the left has dubbed “social justice” issues but what ends up — in many cases — being drag queens and the outright promotion of the LGBTQ agenda.

Last year, Cartoon Network, available to some 85 million U.S. households, promoted radical gender ideology in a social media post, telling children there are “many genders beyond ‘girl’ or ‘boy.’”

Nickelodeon has followed suit and even had Blue’s Clues teaming up with drag queen Nina West in a video celebrating pride month, featuring “cartoon version of the drag queen singing about all types of family arrangements, including transgender, gay, and supposed ‘non-binary’ parents and children,” as Breitbart News detailed.

That has not been the only recent case, either.

Over the past few years, Nickelodeon (owned by ViacomCBS) has repeatedly attempted to propagandize and sexualize its mostly prepubescent audience by sneaking adult sexuality into content aimed directly at children.

Homosexuality in Blues Clues & You. Transsexuals and bisexuals in popular shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants, The Adventures of Korra, and Henry Danger. And more and more and more and more, not to mention its embrace of adult politics.

Alley is no stranger to triggering her critics, openly mocking the updated guidelines prioritizing diversity standards issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last year.

“This is a disgrace to artists everywhere…can you imagine telling Picasso what had to be in his fucking paintings,” Alley wrote at the time. “You people have lost your minds. Control artists, control individual thought .. OSCAR ORWELL”

Alley announced her full support of former President Trump in October last year after supporting him in 2016 and later went on to criticize the corporate media for fearmongering with its Chinese coronavirus coverage.

“They are broadcasting terror because it’s a deflection,” she told Tucker Carlson at the time. “When the thing came out with Biden, and is he in cahoots with China? Is he in cahoots with Ukraine? OK, let’s find out, I would say.”

Radio Host Says ‘Burn the Churches Down’ as More Church Fires Reported

A Canadian radio personality called for the burning of churches, as news outlets have reported more Catholic and Anglican churches being burned in parts of the country, primarily on First Nations reserves.

Radio host Nesta Matthews, who presents a morning programme for The Wave radio station in Saint John, New Brunswick, called for the burning of churches and for arrests in response to unmarked graves being found at Canadian residential schools on First Nations reserves.

“215 broke my heart, 751 has me shattered & furious,” Matthews wrote in response to the 251 children said to have been discovered in Kamloops, British Columbia, and the 751 unmarked graves said to have been found in the Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan.

“Burn the churches down. Arrest any former staff that were actually there & any current staff that won’t provide documentation. Sell everything they own in Canada and give it to survivors. Dismantle it completely,” Matthews said.

The graves were found near residential schools, which were created in the 19th century to assimilate First Nations children and involved the Canadian government and churches.

The tweet was criticised by many, including Toronto Sun columnist Candace Malcolm, who questioned whether the statement would constitute hate speech under a new hate crime bill proposed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party.

The statement comes as several churches, primarily Roman Catholic, have burned down in parts of Canada in recent weeks.

On June 14th, the 204-year-old St. John’s Anglican Church caught fire on the Six Nations First Nations reserve in Ontario, with one local linking the blaze to the protests over the finding of graves in Kamloops.

The Sacred Heart Church in Penticton and St Gregory’s Church on Osoyoos Indian Band lands, both over 100 years old, were destroyed just weeks later and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) later stated both fires were suspicious.

Earlier this week, RCMP reported that two more churches, St. Ann’s Catholic Church on the Upper Similkameen Indian Band and the Chopaka Catholic Church on the Lower Similkameen Indian Band, had also caught fire and been destroyed.

Another church, St. Paul’s Anglican Church on the Gitwangak Indian Band’s land in northwestern British Columbia, also caught fire last Saturday, the fifth church set ablaze in the province in just a week.

In southern Alberta, police reported that the Siksika First Nation Catholic Church had caught fire in a suspected arson attack. The local fire department extinguished the fire before it led to extensive damage.

Since the start of June, many churches across Canada have been damaged in suspicious fires, while others, such as St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral in Saskatoon and a church in Mississauga, Ontario, have been vandalised.

Canada: Wildfire Burns Entire Village After Temperature Tops 121ºF

A wildfire consumed an entire village in British Columbia, Canada, on Thursday after the small town recorded Canada’s highest-ever temperature of 121.2º Fahrenheit earlier this week, the Vancouver Sun reported on Friday.

“Most homes and structures in the village, as well as the ambulance station and the RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] detachment, have been lost,” British Columbia Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth told reporters on July 1 of the situation in Lytton, British Columbia, a village of roughly 1,000 residents.

Farnworth added that Lytton’s “evacuees fled to reception centres in three different directions from Lytton, but some were unaccounted for.”

“Residents had little time to react after the fire was sparked late Wednesday afternoon [June 30], following three successive days of record-breaking hot temperatures that topped out at 49.5 Celsius [about 121 Fahrenheit] Tuesday [June 29], the hottest ever recorded in Canada,” the Vancouver Sun reported on July 2.

“Lytton Mayor Jan Polderman ordered all residents to evacuate immediately around 6 p.m. Wednesday due to the fire, which flashed into an inferno within 15 minutes,” the newspaper added.

“By Thursday afternoon [July 1], the Lytton fire had grown to 90 square kilometres [about 22,000 acres], a size that would cover almost 80 percent of the City of Vancouver, and was being fought using water-bombing helicopters with an incident-management team on the ground,” British Columbia Deputy Forest Minister Richard Manwaring said at a press conference on Thursday.

British Columbia Premier John Horgan told reporters on July 1 that British Columbia “experienced roughly 29,000 lightning strikes and 62 new fires start in the previous 24 hours,” noting that the wildfire that destroyed Lytton was one of many in the western province.

“I cannot stress enough how extreme the risk is at this time in almost every part of British Columbia,” Premier Horgan said on Thursday.

Premier Horgan added that he had spoken to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the morning of July 1. Horgan said Trudeau reinforced that Canada’s federal government will send “federal resources to bear in B.C. [British Columbia]’s fire response, including military support if it is requested and assistance to rebuild.”

The British Columbia Wildfire Service reported “87 active fires as of Thursday afternoon, including the Lytton Creek fire and eight other fires of note, three of which were also in the surrounding Kamloops fire region,” the Vancouver Sun reported.

“The heat in Lytton set its first national record on Sunday [June 27], reaching 115 F (45.1 C), then set another new high Monday [June 28], at 118.2 F (47.9 C). After yet another record high Tuesday [June 29], the heat eased to 102 degrees F (39 C) on Wednesday [June 30],” the Associated Press reported.

Couple who refused to go to quarantine hotel after service trip FINED $12,000

They teach nutrition, help collect clean drinking water, host sports and community meals, and train them in woodworking so they can build beds. Soon they will even teach welding so the kids can repair their own bicycles.

MALCOLM: Canadians deserve better than the brazenness of the mob

Watching video footage of angry radicals tearing down statues of both Queen Victoria, Canada’s founding monarch, and Queen Elizabeth II, our reigning monarch, outside the Manitoba Legislature is an overwhelming experience.

There are a few striking elements: the brazenness of the mob, destroying a piece of our shared history in broad daylight; the euphoria of the crowds cheering; and the complete absence of any authority or police to stop this madness.

Instead, police arrested a man who was reportedly trying to stop them and protect the public monument.

Not to fret, the CBC described the riot as “largely peaceful.” Much like how much of the media in the United States insisted that violent riots that destroyed inner cities across the country last summer were not violent.

“Fiery, but mostly peaceful protest,” read an infamous headline on CNN, where a reporter can be seen insisting the crowds were peaceful despite a large unconfined fire blazing behind him.

The reality is that riots are not protests, and property damage is not peaceful.

This Winnipeg mob, of course, doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Violent vigilante groups have been emboldened in recent weeks due to a misleading media narrative on residential schools.

For those who duck their heads and tune out much of the media narrative – and I salute you – here is just a rough overview of the attacks on core symbols of our country in the last few days:

Five Catholic churches on First Nations reserves in British Columbia were either burned down and vandalized.

Eleven more churches in Calgary were vandalized and dosed with red and orange paint in just a few hours on the eve of Canada Day.

A historic 114-year-old church was set ablaze and reduced to rubble in Morinville, Alberta. In response, the Mayor of Morinville announced that all Canada Day festivities were cancelled. Nothing says “violence doesn’t get you what you want” quite like caving to the vandals.

Dozens of cities and towns across Canada, likewise, gave in and cancelled their Canada Day festivities.

This campaign of violence and self-flagellation all centres upon Canada’s historical policy of residential schools, which existed in some form from 1834 up until 1970.

Three First Nations bands, so far, have come forth to say that they have located the graves of those who are believed to have perished while attending these schools. No doubt more bands will soon do the same. Canada’s history of residential schools deserves criticism and recompense. But details still matter.

Each band says that unmarked graves were discovered through “ground penetrating radar” and that these findings merely confirm what the community already knew. No band has yet released a full report.

A lot of media have nonetheless spun these revelations into evidence of genocide.

Many falsely reported the findings as “mass graves” (they were not, as one of the chiefs herself clarified). Many more exaggerated what ground penetrating radar can do (it doesn’t locate human remains, just grave shafts), and others jumped to enormous conclusions about the cause of death.

Alas, too many journalists in this country are now more interested in virtue-signalling and being on the woke side of history than to concern themselves with reporting the facts or finding the truth.

Regardless of the current moral panic being drummed up in the media, anger over a failed government policy commenced 150 years ago does not justify political violence and attacks on our national symbols. Canada deserves better.

In this debate, the interventionists frame themselves as opposing the anticompetitive forces of large corporations having too much control over the lives of ordinary people. It is noteworthy, then, that these same interventionists support similar kinds of anticompetitive practices, and the increased control over people’s lives they entail, when they are employed by governments instead.

To that end, the leaders of the G-7 nations have recently gathered to propose a global minimum corporate tax that would allow national governments to exert a form of monopoly power of their own over the taxation of business within their borders. A major element of the proposal, if brought to fruition, is the requirement that every nation impose a minimum corporate tax rate of at least 15 percent. The clear purpose of this part of the proposal is to eliminate the so-called race to the bottom in corporate taxes, which is a euphemism for high-tax nations’ hopes of shielding themselves from competition from nations with low tax rates seeking to attract businesses away from them.

For this proposal to have its intended effect, several nations outside of the G-7 would need to voluntarily raise their corporate tax rates. Ireland, for example, sets corporate taxes at 12.5 percent, and a substantial part of its tax base is located there specifically because it is a comparative tax haven. Other parts of the proposal therefore appear to be intended to induce low-tax nations like Ireland, who are not likely keen on raising their tax rates and losing the main attraction they have for multinational companies headquartering there, to participate. For example, the proposal would also redirect the payment of corporate taxes to ensure that the world’s largest companies pay some taxes to the nations where they do business, rather than where they are physically located. These provisions appear designed to compensate low-tax nations for the loss in tax base they will surely suffer if they adopt the G-7 proposal.

In short, wealthy nations know they can only tax businesses so much before those businesses find it profitable to move to competing jurisdictions with lower tax rates, and the G-7 leaders are now openly seeking to collude with other nations to put a stop to that competition. There is little meaningful distinction between this and the alleged anticompetitive practices of private businesses—complete with “kickbacks” promised to cooperating participants—that the same governments continually vilify.

The Delta Covid-19 variant is currently rampant in the United Kingdom according to official data which has been released by Public Health England (PHE) in an attempt to justify the continuation of draconian restrictions on the lives of the British people.

However, we wonder if they realise that the very same data PHE released shows us that people who have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have an 885% higher chance of dying of Covid-19 than of those who are unvaccinated?

The report which can be viewed here shows that between the 1st February 2021 and the 21st June 2021 a total of 92,029 confirmed cases of the Delta variant had been confirmed.

Of these 58.4% were people who had not been vaccinated, totalling 53,822.

A further 7.8% were people who had received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, totalling 7,235.

A further 14.9% were people who had received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine at least three weeks prior to testing positive for the Delta Covid variant, totalling 13,715.

And a further 6.78% were people who had received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine less than three weeks prior to testing positive for the Delta Covid variant, totalling 6,242.

As per the above table taken from the Public Health England we can see that the number of positive cases of the Delta variant in people who are unvaccinated outnumber the number of positive cases of the Delta variant in people who are fully vaccinated by around 7.4 to 1.

This difference probably gives you the impression that the Covid-19 jabs are working fantastically? Well don’t get too excited.

Because if we take the number of people who have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine – 27,192, we can see that the number of people who are unvaccinated, who have tested positive for the Delta variant only outnumber people who have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by around 1.97 to 1.

They don’t seem so fantastic now do they?

THE 'FOUR OLDS'

In China's cultural revolution, a campaign was launched to eliminate what was called the Four Olds - old customs, culture, habits, and ideas. This included renaming streets and landmarks, destruction of statues, the closing or destruction of religious buildings, and elimination of classical literature.

In the typical communist strategy, legitimate grievances are used as an excuse to forcibly change society and rewrite history. Who doesn't already see themselves as a victim will soon be victimized, and everyone will lose their freedom in the end. At the present time in Canada, the recent discoveries of unmarked graves on the grounds of former residential schools have fuelled the flames of the attacks on symbols of colonialism, the British monarchy, as well as the Catholic church, which operated many of the residential schools where Native children were forcibly taken, often being physically, emotionally, and sexually abused.

Prior to the discovery of the graves, numerous schools named after [Canada's founding PM] Sir John A. Macdonald were being renamed due to his involvement with the residential schools. Now statues of him are being removed, and there are calls to rename the parkway in Ottawa named after him.

Symbols of the British monarchy are also under attack.

On Canada Day, statues of both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II were torn down and vandalized on the grounds of the Manitoba legislature. Police simply stood by and watched, only intervening to tase and arrest a man who apparently came to voice his opposition to the vandalism. Numerous churches, mostly Catholic, have been vandalized or burned across the country.

Chairman Justin was quick to condemn a recent hit-and-run incident as a white supremacist terror attack, but took days to address the attacks on churches. The pro-abortion Catholic PM issued a half-hearted statement saying that while burning and vandalizing the churches is "unacceptable and wrong", it is also "fully understandable".

Churches across the country have been either closed or had restrictions severely limiting attendance for the past year and a half. Several pastors have been charged for holding services, with some spending weeks in jail. Continue…
