Billboard truck with reminder of “glaring double standard” hits the streets of Calgary

https://www.rebelnews.com/billboard_truck_with_reminder_of_glaring_double_standard_hits_the_streets_of_calgary

Not one, not two, but three — yes, three — pastors have been jailed in Alberta during the COVID-19 pandemic; meanwhile, Premier Jason Kenney and his right-hand man, Health Minister Tyler Shandro, dined atop the so-called Sky Palace, also breaking public health rules, but were simply allowed to just apologize and move on.

While the third pastor, Tim Stephens of Fairview Baptist Church, is still sitting behind bars, Rebel News took it upon ourselves to provide a visual reminder to the public in Calgary.

Rebel reporter Adam Soos made a guest appearance on yesterday's DAILY Livestream, joining Ezra Levant to talk about what the plan and message were for the truck.

Adam told Ezra that:

The message is basically there has been a glaring double standard. Tyler Shandro and his colleagues scoff at these laws and get away without consequence. Meanwhile, pastors, business owners and individuals are being persecuted and thrown in jail.

And that's a double standard we can simply not abide.

So we're taking the truck around the city, we're bringing attention to the story. We don't want people forgetting that Pastor Tim Stephens is still in jail. People are still suffering while those gentlemen sit up in the Sky Palace and enjoy themselves.

Livestreams air each and every Monday–Friday at noon ET/10 a.m. MT across all of our platforms, or right here at RebelNews.com.

NS/NB border reopens with arrests, MLA who called for highway shutdown kicked from PC caucus

https://www.rebelnews.com/ns_nb_border_reopens_mla_elizabeth_smith-mccrossin_removed_pc_caucus

Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative leader Tim Houston has removed MLA Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin from caucus, releasing a letter this morning attributing the politician's removal to her participation in a blockade shutting down the province's main land entry to New Brunswick.

After Liberal Premier Iain Rankin went back unexpectedly on his announcement to allow New Brunswickers to travel to Nova Scotia without quarantining, Smith-McCrossin, the Progressive Conservative MLA for the border region of Cumberland North, posted a message on Facebook urging locals to shut down the Trans-Canada highway near Amherst to protest.

Protesters gathered at both the main highway and at a smaller land crossing in Tidnish. After a half day of blockading, Smith-McCrossin posted an update on social media yesterday morning urging an end to the protest and for residents to join her in Halifax to demand a meeting with the premier.

RCMP were on scene during the protest, but did not move to clear the blockade and make arrests until yesterday evening.

Houston announced the removal of Smith-McCrossin this morning, stating that he had the “full support of [the PC Caucus] in this decision to remove her:

After a Zoom meeting with PC MLAs and a discussion with Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin, I made the decision to remove Ms. Smith-McCrossin from the PC Caucus. The decision will also extend to future elections where Ms. Smith-McCrossin will not be permitted to run as a PC.

I appreciate her frustration and the frustration of everyone affected by the Premier's 11th hour changes. These changes are a gut punch to people and to businesses in Nova Scotia. As a Caucus, we are focused on holding the Premier to account for his decisions but Ms. Smith-McCrossin's failure to accept accountability for her actions at the blockade shows a lack of judgment and personal responsibility.

As colleagues for the past four years, I owed her an opportunity to explain her actions, and the efforts she took to conceal those actions from her Caucus colleagues. Unfortunately, Ms. Smith-McCrossin refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and — when explicitly asked by her Caucus — refused to apologize to Nova Scotians.

Rankin was elected as the head of the Liberal Party of Nova Scotia during a party convention to take the place of the outgoing Stephen McNeil, who resigned after nearly twenty years in politics.

On Tuesday, Rankin, along with chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang announced that while residents from Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island may enter the province freely, New Brunswickers would not be given the same courtesy and must self-isolate for 14 days on arrival. Rankin later stated that he had not discussed this departure from earlier plans to throw the doors open for New Brunswickers with the province's premier Blaine Higgs.

Doctors are being investigated for asking questions about the COVID vaccines

https://www.rebelnews.com/doctors_are_being_investigated_for_asking_questions_about_the_covid_vaccines

At the beginning of June, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a vaccine recommendation that aligned with what some doctors are sounding alarm bells on: adolescents should be spared from this experimental injection until more studies can be conducted, as there is virtually no risk to them of COVID complications.

You can find a screenshot from the WHO’s recommendation as of mid-afternoon on June 22, where there was a bold statement that read: children should not be vaccinated at the moment. It confirmed what physicians like Dr. Jean Marc Benoit have been saying — that because children and adolescents tend to be mostly unaffected by COVID-19, this is not an emergency for them.

Yet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario seems to be deploying bullying tactics in an attempt to silence any and all dissenting Doctors. Dr. Benoit is being investigated, as is Dr. Patrick Phillips, for speaking out publicly about the concerns they have with the mainstream COVID narrative. You can find my previous reports, featuring both of these doctors, here.

In response to an obvious outpouring of “I told ya so”s, the WHO quietly changed their recommendation sometime overnight. The organization removed that bold statement entirely; see for yourself.

And this was on the same day that Sick Kids reported seeing post-vaccination myocarditis in teens, with “approximately five” cases, while McMaster Children’s Hospital reports having at least two.

This is exactly what Dr. Benoit is warning about. Now he faces investigation from his regulatory body for utilizing his social media platform as a means to get the word out, because no one else is.

How is it that these organizations can magically change “the science” to suit the political narrative of the day? Where is the accountability we need before more innocent children are maimed or worse yet, killed?

The best response to the COVID-19 pandemic amongst Canadian provinces and territories has come from the only NDP government in the country.

In terms of having the most balanced approach to the pandemic, British Columbia has had the most hands-off response.

Anthony Furey discusses in his latest video.

Liberals introduce bill to ban online “hate speech”

https://tnc.news/2021/06/24/liberals-introduce-bill-to-ban-online-hate-speech-1/

Hours before the House of Commons adjourned for the summer, the Liberals introduced a bill to crack down on “hate speech” published online.

Liberal Justice Minister David Lametti tabled the last minute bill Wednesday, which would reinstate a controversial provision in the Canadian Human Rights Act, section 13, which was repealed by the Conservatives in 2013 for heavily restricting free speech rights. The bill will also amend the Criminal Code and the Youth Criminal Justice Act to give the government new powers to preemptively address hateful content.

Under the proposed bill, it will be illegal to use the internet to “communicate or cause to be communicated hate speech…in which the hate speech is likely to foment detestation or vilification of an individual or group of individuals on the basis of a prohibited ground of discrimination.”

The Canadian Human Rights Act sets out numerous protected grounds, from race and sexual orientation to religion and gender identity.

This bill would also give the Canadian Human Rights Commission the power to compel citizens to cease online communication and in some cases, pay a monetary fine. The Ontario Civil Liberties Association believes that this bill “grossly violates the fundamental right of freedom of expression.”

In an interview on The Andrew Lawton Show, Canadian Constitution Foundation litigation director Christine Van Geyn said the bill is fundamentally at odds with free speech.

“(The government’s) proving once again that they’re one of the most anti-speech, anti-expression and anti-technology governments we’ve ever seen in this country,” she said.

“This type of arrogance from this government on imposing their views on what Canadians should and should not be allowed to say and how they should communicate it and how to monitor it – Canadians should be very concerned.”

Conservative justice critic Rob Moore said in a statement that “this bill will not target hate speech — just ensure bureaucrats in Ottawa are bogged down with frivolous complaints about tweets.”

He went on to call out the Liberals for their heavily restrictive measures on free speech saying, “The Trudeau Liberals are empowering a bureaucracy to subjectively restrict the rights of Canadians.”

The bill says hate speech does not include content that solely “expresses mere dislike or disdain or…discredits, humiliates, hurts or offends.”

These are “subjective” criteria, Van Geyn said, raising questions about what speech is actually off limits, especially on contentious issues that are not yet settled.

These concerns were echoed by True North fellow and free speech advocate, Lindsay Shepherd, who testified before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights during its study on online hate in 2019.

“This shows us that if the views you’re expressing fall outside the liberal-progressive orthodoxy, you can and will be shut out — and with a return of section 13 or some other similar online hate speech law, Canadians who express non-politically correct opinions could potentially face fines or legal trouble,” Shepherd said.

This legislation comes just weeks after a London attack on a Muslim family renewed calls from many that the government needed to take a stronger approach to tackling online hate.

The government confirmed that this bill will be accompanied by a new regulatory framework that will tackle harmful content online and in the coming weeks will outline a proposal to hold social media companies accountable for harmful online content.

If a fall election is called by the Trudeau government, the bill will die and will have to be reintroduced in the next parliamentary session.

Private cybersecurity firm warned Ottawa of “aggressive” attacks from China, Russia

https://tnc.news/2021/06/24/private-cybersecurity-firm-warned-ottawa-of-aggressive-attacks-from-china-russia/

A 2019 report by a private cyber security firm warned the federal government to expect increasingly aggressive cyber attacks from China and Russia.

According to the Toronto Star, the report warned that incoming threats would fall “just below the threshold of armed conflict.”

“The threat is sophisticated, multi-faceted and dangerous. Canada is subject to continuous cyber exploitation and attack, purposeful interference in our national critical infrastructure and foreign influence in the democratic process,” Clairvoyance Cyber Corp writes.

“Through the theft of intellectual property, misinformation and deception, Russia seeks to re-establish itself as a major world player in a multi-polar world while China seeks to gain increasing economic and political advantage.”

The 2018 arrest of Chinese heiress and Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou was also noted in the report as an instigator of further threat activity.

Meng is currently wanted by US authorities for allegedly having business dealings with Iran despite sanctions against the Middle East country.

“We’re getting very good at putting protection in place for basic network hygiene, security … (But) the threat has moved up the scale and is essentially targeting the ‘wetware,’ people’s minds, knowledge, their perceptions,” said Clairvoyance Cyber Corp founder David McMahon.

“That’s why we have the anti-vaxx movement, we have conspiracy theories, we have all of these sorts of things and behind some of that, too, are nation states that are just stirring the pot.”

At the height of the pandemic, the Communications Security Establishment’s Cyber Centre (CSE) warned that foreign entities were targeting Canadian research institutions for COVID-19 related information.

“With regards to the specific threats, the (CSE’s) Cyber Centre has assessed that the COVID-19 pandemic presents an elevated level of risk to the cybersecurity of Canadian health organizations involved in the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CSE’s acting director-general of public affairs Christopher Williams.

“(CSIS) sees an increased risk of foreign interference and espionage due to the extraordinary effort of our businesses and research centres … (CSIS’) focus is on protecting Canadian intellectual property from these threats — and jobs and economic interests with it.”

Free Speech Under Attack

https://tnc.news/2021/06/24/free-speech-under-attack/

There’s no other way to put it – the Liberal government’s new “hate speech” bill is an attack on free speech. The bill restores the previously-repealed section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, which allows the Canadian Human Rights Commission to target those whose online speech “is likely to foment detestation or vilification.” True North’s Andrew Lawton says free speech must be the hill to die on, and breaks down the legal implications with Canadian Constitution Foundation litigation director Christine Van Geyn.

Also, Epoch Times columnist Fergus Hodgson joins the show to talk about the economic danger of Canada’s “net zero” climate target.

Mainstream media starts to recognize ivermectin. Will Big Tech stop the censorship?

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/mainstream-media-starts-to-recognize-ivermectin-will-big-tech-stop-the-censorship

Facebook already admitted that it was wrong to censor the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis — could ivermectin censorship soon end, too?

June 24, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — From the onset of the coronavirus crisis, Big Tech companies like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter worked to silence what they deemed to be misinformation. In some cases — and even to this day — they made mistakes, which, for instance, led Facebook to admit it was wrong about censoring the Wuhan lab leak theory until recently.

Now, even mainstream media sources are admitting that there are some concerns about the COVID vaccines’ side effects. Outlets such as NPR have been forced to cover frequent reports of myocarditis in young people receiving the jab. Similarly, mainstream media have begun to report on the potential for drugs such as ivermectin to help treat COVID.

Reuters, a mainstream news agency, reported that the University of Oxford launched an investigation into the possibility that ivermectin could be used to treat COVID. Ivermectin is an inexpensive widely-used anti-parasitic drug that has been proven to be very successful in curing other illnesses

“Ivermectin resulted in a reduction of virus replication in laboratory studies, the university said,” according to Reuters. The news organization indicated that “a small pilot showed giving the drug early could reduce viral load and the duration of symptoms in some patients with mild COVID-19.”

Meanwhile, Google-owned video platform YouTube has a policy that forbids the discussion of drugs such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine as a potential cure for COVID.

Among other things, YouTube has temporarily banned Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) from uploading content to his account because he posted a speech he gave about the coronavirus. Also, the video platform previously removed testimonials given to a Senate committee that included medical opinions about potential COVID treatments using cheap, available drugs. “YouTube said it was censoring discussion of the drug as part of its policy against ‘medical misinformation,’” The Federalist reported.

The company will give a warning to a YouTube page if it simply publishes a video of a mother sharing a story about how her daughter does not like wearing masks.

Facebook also censored people who posted screenshots from the World Health Organization that recommend against children receiving the jab. The WHO’s recommendation is closely aligned with the American Medical Association, which also recently recommended that colleges not mandate the COVID vaccine for students — at least for now.

The tech company’s “fact-checkers” could not even agree on the legality of campus vaccine mandates — but organizations that use Facebook are expected to abide by its restrictions, even when they’re unclear or contradictory.

The Overton Window is shifting on what can be reported about the vaccine and COVID treatments. Views that were once only reported by LifeSiteNews and other conservative news organizations are now allowed to be discussed more openly — even Big Tech may need to loosen the restrictions on free discussion.

World’s Worst Human Rights Abuser China Demands U.N. Probe Against Canada

https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2021/06/23/worlds-worst-human-rights-abuser-china-demands-u-n-probe-against-canada/

China on Tuesday headed off a call for an international investigation of its human rights abuses against the Uyghur Muslims by demanding a U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHCR) investigation of Canada for allegedly abusing its indigenous population.

China’s mission to the UNHCR in Geneva, Switzerland, jumped in with its demand literally minutes before Canada was scheduled to call for the investigation of Xinjiang province, where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has herded millions of oppressed Uyghurs into concentration camps, subjected them to political indoctrination and forced sterilization, and used them as slave labor.

The Canadian statement to UNHCR also cited China’s authoritarian crackdown in Hong Kong and its oppression of Tibet. Most of the free world’s major powers, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, and Australia, signed it as well.

Before Canada could deliver that statement, China and several other tyrannical regimes — including Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Russia, Venezuela, and Syria — expressed “deep concern” about the recent discovery of some 215 children’s remains at the former site of a boarding school in British Columbia.

Chinese minister Jiang Duan read the complaint against Canada at the UNHCR meeting:

We are deeply concerned about serious human rights violations against the indigenous people in Canada. Historically, Canada robbed the indigenous people of their land, killed them, and eradicated their culture. The entire world was shocked to learn recent discovery of the remains of over 200 indigenous children at a Canadian boarding school. Between the 1830s and 1990s, over 150,000 indigenous children in Canada were reported to have been forcibly taken away from their parents and sent to boarding schools. They were subjected to malnutrition, and many fell victims to abuse and rape.

At least 4,000 children died of disease, neglect, accidents or abuse while at school. We call for a thorough and impartial investigation into all cases where crimes were committed against the indigenous people, especially children, so as to bring those responsible to justice, and offer full remedy to victims

We are also deeply concerned over the illegal killings of civilians by Canadian overseas military servicemen and systemic racial discrimination, xenophobia, and Islamophobia within Canada. We urge Canada to immediately stop violations of human rights, and call on the Human Rights Council, the OHCHR and relevant Special Procedures, to keep following the human rights issues in Canada.

The Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia was opened in 1890 and shut down in 1978. A Canadian commission in 2015 published a “truth and reconciliation” report on the residential schools, which were essentially mandatory indoctrination centers for indigenous youth, condemning them as instruments “cultural genocide” and mourning the deaths of some 4,000 students. The Canadian government has paid over $1.6 billion in compensation to survivors of the schools.

China has paid nothing to the estimated 3 million people who have endured its concentration camps, instead applauding the camps as “vocational training centers.”

Prior to the discovery, the Kamloops school had 51 documented deaths. Canada’s indigenous tribes have called for radar searches of other former residential schools to determine if they also harbor undocumented mass graves.

Present-day Canadians were shocked and horrified by the discovery, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who said the Kamloops discovery “breaks my heart.”
