LIVE: Anti-lockdown protesters gather in London as govt considers prolonging lockdown

Ruptly.

Anti-lockdown protesters are gathering in London on Monday, June 21 as the government is expected to make an announcement on whether to proceed with the final phase of lockdown easing in England.

British PM Boris Johnson indicated last week he would be cautious in lifting coronavirus restrictions as it is still unclear how protected the population would be against a new surge of COVID-19 cases as well as the spread of the new Delta virus variant.

June 21 was set as the earliest date to bring in 'stage four' of the COVID-related unlocking process allowing pubs, clubs, theatres and cinemas to operate without capacity limits, nightclubs to reopen, and restrictions on social gatherings to be lifted.
