‘Spyware’? Google draws fire for ‘force-installing’ sneaky Covid-tracking app on Android devices in Massachusetts without consent

Over the past week, a growing number of Android users in the state of Massachusetts have accused Google of stealth-installing “spyware” on their devices under the guise of a state government-supported Covid contact-tracing app.

Launched by the state on June 15, MassNotify enables users who have turned on the voluntary ‘Covid-19 Exposure Notifications’ feature on their devices’ settings to be alerted via Bluetooth if they have potentially been exposed to the virus.

After enabling the feature, users can choose the state from which they want to receive alerts, and the respective state’s app will be installed on the device. However, dozens of people have claimed that they received the application despite not opting into the feature.

“Automatically installed without consent. It has no icon, no way to open this and see what it even does, which is a huge red flag… I think it’s spyware, phishing as the DPH (Department of Public Health),” user Callie M. noted in a review on the app’s Google Play store page.

Terming it an “unethical breach of privacy and a forceful misappropriation of personal property,” user Frank L. said, “The degree to which my data is collected or distributed through it has not been disclosed neither in active nor inactive form… I can only conclude and caution others that it is disclosing your whereabouts and social contacts without permission.”

The app’s page describes it as being “privacy-focused.” It notes that the DPH takes user “privacy and confidentiality very seriously” and stated that “no GPS or location information” shared from devices will “ever be collected or used” by the app.

In a statement to the 9to5Google news outlet, Google confirmed that the exposure notification system is “built into” device settings and is “automatically distributed” by the Google Play Store so “users don’t have to download a separate app.”

However, the statement noted that the notification functionality was only enabled if a user “proactively turns it on” after deciding to share their health information through the system to warn other people of possible exposure.

Meanwhile, a Hacker News reader was reportedly told by the app’s help desk that the “confusion” was due to an “update made by Google that resulted in some users seeing MassNotify appear in their app list in the Google Play Store.”

Noting that the “appearance of MassNotify in the app list” did not mean that the app was enabled on the reader’s phone, the help desk response claimed that it “merely means that MassNotify has been made available as an option in your phone’s settings if you wish to enable it.”

According to 9to5Google, however, questions remain as to how the app was installed on user devices irrespective of whether Google “accidentally pushed out the application to phones due to a bug in the system.”

If it was an intentional rollout, however, that “raises questions on who authorized that action,” the outlet noted.

Hampton Dellinger, who President Biden nominated on Friday to lead the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy, worked on the Crisis Management and Government Response team at Boies Schiller Flexner, an international law firm where Biden served as counsel. Emails from Biden’s laptop show he worked closely with lawyers on Boies Schiller Flexner’s crisis management team. He referred Burisma Holdings to the crisis unit as a client in April 2014. Biden’s laptop emails also indicate he attended a private dinner party with Dellinger and several other Boies Schiller Flexner lawyers in March 2014. -Free Beacon

The highly successful law firm (which sought up to $20 million in PPP loans) will likely have to produce answers regarding Dellinger's work during his Senate confirmation process, according to a former chief investigative counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"Senators should want to learn more about Mr. Dellinger’s interactions with Hunter Biden," Jason Foster told the Free Beacon, adding: "Senators are likely to question Mr. Dellinger on what he knew about his firm’s dealings with Biden and Burisma at the time."

As Ross notes, Dellinger's past could pose a potential conflict of interest while the DOJ investigates Hunter over his tax affairs and foreign business dealings.

Federal prosecutors are also reportedly investigating whether a Democratic consulting firm that worked closely with Biden illegally lobbied for Burisma. While Dellinger would likely not oversee the criminal investigations if confirmed as chief of the Office of Legal Policy, previous leaders of the policy office have moved on to other jobs at the agency that perform criminal oversight. -Free Beacon

Morrell then put together a hit piece on the Arizona Audit for the far-left Washington Post. In her observer quotes in the WaPo about AZ audit, she attempted to destroy the audit firm hired to perform the audit, Cyber Ninjas:

…So I expected it to be unconventional. But it was so much worse than that. In more than a decade working on elections, audits and recounts across the country, I’ve never seen one this mismanaged…

…I also observed other auditors working on a “forensic paper audit,” flagging ballots as “suspicious” for a variety of reasons. One was presidential selection: If someone thought the voter’s choice looked as though it was marked by a machine, they flagged it as “anomalous.” Another was “missing security markers.” (It’s virtually impossible for a ballot to be missing its security markers, since voting equipment is designed to reject ballots without them….

…The fourth reason was folding. The auditors reasoned that only absentee voters would fold their ballots; an in-person, Election Day voter would take a flat ballot, mark it in the booth and submit it, perfectly pristine. I almost had to laugh: In my experience, voters will fold ballots every which way, no matter where they vote or what the ballot instructs them to do. Chalk it up to privacy concerns or individual quirks — but no experienced elections official would call that suspicious….

…What I saw in Arizona shook me. If the process wraps up and Cyber Ninjas puts together some kind of report, that report will almost certainly claim that there were issues with Maricopa County’s ballots. After all, Cyber Ninjas chief executive Doug Logan has publicly voiced his wild conspiracy theories about the 2020 election. But the real problem is the so-called audit itself.

Audits are supposed to make us better. They are supposed to make our elections more secure and transparent — to strengthen the public’s trust in our democratic process. Maricopa County is known for having some of the best election practices in the country: Officials had already undertaken a hand-count audit and a forensic audit of their 2020 ballots and found no evidence of fraud. Now a group with no expertise, improvising procedures as they go, is sowing doubt about the outcome of a well-run election.

This is not an audit, and I don’t see how this can have a good outcome.

Foreign policy won’t be limited by nuclear deal, says Iran’s president-elect, ballistic missile program is non-negotiable

Iran’s president-elect, known for his hardline stance, has said his country’s foreign policy will extend beyond the JCPOA nuclear deal and that he will engage with leaders and parties around the world in Tehran’s best interests.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday for the first time since his election victory last week, President-elect Ebrahim Raisi talked of his plans to implement an assertive foreign policy.

Striking a forceful tone, Raisi said that the country’s ballistic missile program was not up for negotiation and demanded that the US lifts all sanctions on Iran, adding that Washington must immediately return to the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

I urge the United States to return to its commitment to the deal… All sanctions imposed on Iran must be lifted and verified by Tehran.

The president-elect suggested he had no interest in meeting US President Joe Biden but insisted his government would interact with the world in the best interests of Iranians.

“Our foreign policy will not be limited to the nuclear deal,” Raisi stated, adding: “We will have interaction with the world. We will not tie the Iranian people’s interests to the nuclear deal.” He claimed that the priority would be to improve relations with other countries in the region.

In remarks which covered a number of topics, the president-elect said he should receive an award for his tireless efforts as a jurist. He said he had “always defended human rights” and that US sanctions on Iran were human rights abuses.

Raisi, who won 62% of the popular vote last week in an election with a turnout of just 47%, will be subordinate to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on many issues when he takes office in August.

Raisi’s victory comes as Iranian negotiators attempt to secure a deal in Vienna which would see the 2015 nuclear deal restored and tough US sanctions removed. The pact, which put restraints on Iranian nuclear ambitions, was unilaterally abandoned in 2018 by former US president Donald Trump, who enacted harsh sanctions on Tehran.

China Expands Lockdowns, Mass Testing To Manufacturing Hub Of Dongguan

Despite China's success in reining in COVID-19 cases, a recent outbreak in Guangdong, China's most populous province, has apparently spread even further despite lockdown measures that were first imposed in late May, before being tightened earlier this month. And on Monday, Reuters reported that despite these restrictions, the outbreak has spread to the manufacturing hub of Dongguan, which is also situated in Guangdong Province.

The city launched mass testing on Monday and even blocked off certain communities after detecting the first infections tied to the current outbreak. Officials have said that the "Delta" mutant strain - first discovered in India - has been driving the latest outbreak.

According to Reuters, Dongguan reported two cases since Friday. City authorities have told residents not to leave, except for "essential" reasons. Those who wish to leave must show negative test results from within the last 48 hours before departure.

Entrances to highways that would lead drivers to other cities were closed, while shuttle buses between airports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and a check-in terminal in Dongguan, were also closed. Some museums and libraries in the city were also closed to visitors. Factories were still running, however.

"(Workers) need to do COVID tests, but it's not a prerequisite for them to be able to enter factories," said King Lau, who helps manage a metal coating factory.

"My staff will do (their COVID tests) after work, although there will be long queues."

In total, Guangdong has reported 168 confirmed infections since May 21, with nearly 90% of the cases tied to its capital, Guangzhou.

The outbreak is smaller than earlier clusters found elsewhere in China. A prior outbreak centered around Hebei, a region in northeastern China, recorded more than 1,150 infections between late December and early February. It marked the worst domestic outbreak in the central city of Wuhan, where the virus emerged in late 2019.

Chinese officials said Guangzhou's battle against the Delta variant was a warning to other cities not to get complacent. Meanwhile, strict disinfection and quarantine measures implemented on May 21 have led to congestion of vessels waiting to berth in one of China's busiest container ports, Yantian International Container Terminal in Shenzhen, according to the NYT.

But the latest problem in Shenzhen, the world’s third-largest container port after Shanghai and Singapore, is making the difficulties even worse.

UK govt gave contract to IT firm that is ‘openly plotting’ to turn vaccine passports into a national ID card, privacy group warns

The British government has been accused of aiming to covertly implement a national ID programme, after it partnered with a company that has advocated turning vaccine passports into a multi-purpose document.

Entrust, an IT firm that bills itself as a “global leader in identities, payments, and data protection,” was awarded a contract by the Department of Health and Social Care last month to work on the UK’s Covid-19 vaccine certificate system. The company was given £250,000 ($346,000) to provide cloud-computing services for the government’s Covid-status certification scheme, iNews reported. The contract is due to expire in March 2022, but the government has the option of extending it for an additional year.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated last month that proof of vaccination will be “necessary” for international travel, and in recent weeks reports have emerged claiming that the UK government may require the document of people attending sporting events or other large gatherings.

Judging from Entrust’s own stance on the issue, it’s possible that the government may have even more ambitious plans for the digital certificate. In a February blog post published on the company’s website, Jann Markey, Entrust’s product marketing director, argued that the advent of the vaccine passports could be used as an opportunity to roll out a national ID as part of “the infrastructure of the new normal.”

“Consider a national ID strategy: With the infrastructure and investment necessary to ensure a viable vaccine passport, why not redeploy this effort into a national citizen ID programme that can be used for multiple purposes including the secure delivery of government services, secure cross-border travel, and documentation of vaccination,” the blog, which explores vaccine passports in the “post-pandemic world,” states.

Notably, the US-based company has already helped Albania, Ghana and Malaysia deploy national ID systems, iNews said.

Entrust’s partnership with the UK government has already raised alarm among civil liberties organisations and lawmakers.

Tory MP David Davis, a member of the anti-lockdown Covid Recovery Group, demanded an explanation from the government. He told iNews that it was “extraordinary” that the health department could ink deals with such companies without first getting permission from Parliament, adding that it was particularly worrying that a contract could be given to a firm “with this sinister attitude to surveillance of citizens.”

Former Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith echoed similar displeasure, claiming that the contract contradicts the “stated position of the government” and should be nixed.

UK preparing for autumn booster shots against Covid-19, says minister, as CureVac fails and Novavax shines in trials

The UK health minister has said the government will shortly be announcing its plans for nationwide booster shots against Covid-19 in the autumn, as a trial of different combinations nears its conclusion.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast on Monday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the authorities were currently trialing a number of vaccine combinations that could boost Britons’ immunity against the novel coronavirus and its many variants.

“In the next few weeks, when we get the clinical data through on what’s the most effective combinations to have … then we’ll set out all the details for the booster programme for the autumn,” Hancock stated.

The UK’s Cov-Boost trial, which tests a variety of vaccine combos, has become increasingly relevant, given the current prevalence of the Indian virus variant, known as Delta.

Scientists, including Dr Susan Hopkins, strategic response director for Covid-19 at Public Health England, have warned of the prospect of further lockdowns later in the year. “I can’t predict the future – it really depends on whether the hospitals start to become overwhelmed at some point,” Hopkins told the BBC’s Andrew Marr.

On Sunday, the day before the UK’s lockdown was originally scheduled to end, the country registered 9,284 Covid-19 cases, many of which are the Delta variant.

The UK had hoped that CureVac, a German biotech firm, would provide a booster jab for the country this autumn. However, last week, the company’s trial revealed that its vaccine was only 47% effective.

Meanwhile, US firm Novavax published extremely positive trial data last week, with its vaccine proving more than 90% effective against a variety of virus variants. The jab will be produced in the UK, if granted approval.

Swedish Prime Minister Lofven Ousted in Parliament No-Confidence Vote

STOCKHOLM—Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven was ousted in a no-confidence vote in parliament on Monday, plunging the country into deep political uncertainty.

Lofven, who was defeated after nearly seven years in power over a plan to ease rent controls for new-build apartments, now has a week to resign and hand the speaker the job of finding a new government, or call a snap election.

“The government now has a week to decide and we will hold talks with our cooperation parties,” Lovfen told a news conference after the vote.

“It is what is best for the country that is important. We will work as fast as we can.”

The nationalist Sweden Democrats called the vote after the formerly communist Left Party withdrew support for Lofven’s Social Democrats over the rent control reforms, an important issue for many voters.

The no-confidence motion, which required 175 votes in the 349-seat parliament to pass, was supported by 181 lawmakers.

Lofven, 63, is the first Swedish prime minister to be ousted by a no-confidence motion put forward by the opposition in the European Union member state of about 10 million people.

It is not clear to whom the speaker might turn to form a new government if Lofven quits because of the make-up of parliament, but the opinion polls suggest a snap election might not bring clarity either.

Lofven secured a second term in 2018 only after months of negotiations following an election in which the Sweden Democrats made big gains, redrawing the political map.

Since then he has led a minority government of Social Democrats and Greens, supported by former political rivals the Centre Party and the Liberals but needing the tacit approval of the Left.

China Nominates Wuhan Lab ‘Batwoman’ for ‘Outstanding Science’ Award

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the country’s largest scientific research institute and a regime-controlled entity, nominated two researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) for an award celebrating “outstanding science and technology achievement,” the state-run Global Times newspaper reported Sunday.

The WIV has been the subject of intense international scrutiny for nearly two years as evidence has mounted it may have played a role in the start of the ongoing Chinese coronavirus pandemic. The scientists nominated for the CAS award — Shi Zhengli and Yuan Zhiming — were known to have been studying contagious coronavirus strains shortly before the outbreak of Chinese coronavirus in the city of Wuhan, the origin location of the outbreak. Shi had already developed a reputation for being one of the world’s most knowledgeable coronavirus researchers, nicknamed “Bat Woman” for her extensive work on coronavirus strains originating in that animal.

In 2020, the U.S. State Department published a “fact sheet” stating Washington had reason to believe several individuals working at the WIV had been hospitalized with an unknown respiratory illness. The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) launched an investigation into the origin of the virus in Wuhan this year that found no evidence of any animal reservoir of the virus in the city.

The Chinese Communist Party has repeatedly insisted the laboratory played no role in the pandemic. Initially, Chinese officials claimed the origin of the virus was “the wildlife sold illegally in a Wuhan seafood market,” but in mid-2020, spokespeople for the Chinese Foreign Ministry began to insist, without evidence, that the virus originated in the United States. Spokesman Zhao Lijian has been particularly vocal in accusing the Fort Detrick, Maryland, U.S. Army laboratory of unleashing the virus on the world, despite the lack of evidence linking any early coronavirus cases to Maryland or the United States at all.

The Global Times reported that the WIV is one of several institutions on a list of nominees for the CAS “2021 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize.”

“The award is mainly given to individuals or research groups who have made or demonstrated significant achievements in the past five years. CAS awards 10 such individuals and research groups annually,” the propaganda outlet detailed.

“CAS said the WIV quickly carried out pathogen identification after the outbreak of COVID-19 [Chinese coronavirus], completed the entire virus genome sequencing and virus isolation within a short time,” it continued, “confirmed that the COVID-19 virus shares the same functional receptor as the SARS virus, systematically analyzed the basic biological characteristics of the virus, and revealed that coronavirus carried by bats may be the evolutionary ancestor of the COVID-19 coronavirus.”

Boris Johnson Lays Groundwork for Next Lockdown Before Britain Even Escapes the Last One

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has suggested that the UK may have to reimpose lockdown restrictions during the winter months, despite previously promising that the end of lockdowns will be “irreversible”.

Speaking to reporters during a visit to a laboratory in Hertfordshire on the day that was initially slated as “freedom day” before being delayed to July 19th, Mr Johnson refused to rule out reinstating lockdowns during the winter.

“You can never exclude that there will be some new disease, some new horror that we simply haven’t budgeted for or accounted for,” the PM said per Sky News.

“But looking at where we are, at the efficacy of the vaccines against all variants that we can currently see, I think it’s looking good for 19 July to be that terminus point,” Johnson added.

Mr Johnson said that the UK is on track for a “rough winter for all sorts of reasons,” explaining: “Obviously there are big pressures on the NHS, which is all the more reason to reduce the number of COVID cases now, give the NHS the breathing space it needs to get on with dealing with all those other pressures.

“We’re certainly going to be putting in the investment to make sure that they can.”

Should the Prime Minister reimpose lockdown restrictions in the winter, it would be a direct breach of his promise of a “cautious, but irreversible, roadmap to freedom”.

The comments follow weeks of pressure on the government from its own scientific advisors to ease lockdown rules as slowly as possible, if at all. Speaking yesterday, government scientist Dr Susan Hopkins said she foresaw an extra lockdown for this coming winter.

The Prime Minister also revealed that the government is considering lifting quarantine restrictions for British travellers who have had two doses of a coronavirus vaccine. However, he said that it is unlikely for travel to return to any sort of normality in the near future.

“I want to stress that this is going to be – whatever happens – a difficult year for travel,” he said, adding: “There will be hassle, there will be delays, I am afraid, because the priority has got to be to keep the country safe and stop the virus coming back in.”

Normally an annual gathering of British eccentrics marking the midsummer at one of the world’s most ancient sites, police descended on Stonehenge Monday morning to break up a meeting that contravened the government’s coronavirus lockdown regulations.

Police officers physically removed celebrants as they dispersed a crowd at the world-famous Stonehenge site, a Bronze Age UNESCO World Heritage Site formed of circles of enormous standing stones. Thought to be at least 4,000 years old, the stones are so arranged as to align with the rising sun on the morning of Summer Solstice — today.

The stones have major significance for British people generally, for world history, but also for British counter-cultural groups including Pagans and Druids, who celebrate simulacrums of pre-Christian festivals at Stonehenge annually.

But this year — as it was in 2020 — the Summer Solstice celebration at Stonehenge was cancelled by the government, with revellers warned to keep away. In a normal year, tens of thousands can gather. In the event, hundreds defied the government’s coronavirus orders to gather outdoors. Others gathered at the nearby Avebury stone circle, which was also closed to visitors.

Police say one arrest took place of a woman who was “drunk and disorderly”. Police and security staff cleared the stones of people and Superintendant Dave Minty was quoted by the BBC as having said of the revellers “most people have been well behaved”.

English Heritage, the body which manages the Stones on behalf of the government had intended to broadcast a live stream of the sunrise at Stonehenge this morning for the benefit of those who stayed at home but cut the feed in the early hours to prevent showing those who turned up against orders. Once the revellers had been cleared the video was restored.

Despite the government’s own scientists making clear early fears over coronavirus transmission outdoors were completely overblown, throughout the over year-long lockdown the authorities have shown themselves to be quite proactive in going after people being outside.

The BBC has barred white people from applying for a trainee position in Glasgow, in the latest example of anti-white discrimination from Britain’s publicly-funded broadcaster.

A job advert posted by Creative Access — a firm that seeks to increase minority representation in the media and the arts — said that the BBC’s Science Unit in Glasgow was seeking applicants for a one-year, £17,810 per year trainee production management assistant position.

Creative Access said the position was “only open to black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates,” according to the Mail on Sunday.

The digital campaign manager for the Taxpayers’ Alliance, Joe Ventre said: “BBC bosses shouldn’t be supporting race-based recruiting with taxpayers’ money. Taking an approach like this further undermines confidence in the Corporation and their use of licence fee payers’ cash.”

While positive discrimination was made illegal under the Equality Act of 2010, there is a loophole for ‘positive action’ to discriminate on the basis of race or gender for trainee and internship roles within companies.

The cooperation between the BBC and Creative Access in prohibiting white applicants has been longstanding, with Breitbart London reporting in 2016 that the firm advertised for four positions for the public broadcaster for “Black, Asian and non-white minority ethnic backgrounds”.

Georgia Fulton County’s Richard Barron Reportedly Finds 1,500 Chain of Custody Forms After Reporting All Were Missing for Months

Richard Barron, Georgia Fulton County Elections Board Director performed a miracle this past week. He located more than a thousand chain of custody documents for the county that have been missing since the 2020 Election.

What a shock.

The Georgia Star News has been reporting for months on the massive amount of documentation legally required in the 2020 Election that has been missing. Every ballot in the election is required to be tracked from when the vote was cast to the point where the ballot was counted and stored for future audits if needed.

The Star reported only a few months ago that Georgia was missing chain of custody documentation on over 350,000 ballots:

Then only a week ago it was reported that Fulton County Georgia was missing chain of custody documentation on 18,900 ballots in the county.

He, Richard Barron, and the County reportedly located the chain of custody documentation on all 18,900 ballots in Fulton County.

A reporter from the local Public Broadcasting Media outlet broke the news. The reporter tweeted that a miracle had occurred. He somehow located a copy of a chain of custody document in his tweet. He claimed that all the missing documentation was found. A miracle occurred.

Unfortunately, the document the reporter provided in his tweet disagreed with the total number of ballots missing as previously reported by the county. Below is the tweet.

“[A]fter GPB News asked the [Fulton] county Monday about the forms not included in the Georgia Star’s records request, elections staff located all but eight of the more than 1,500 forms” and “provided them to GPB News on a flash drive,” wrote Fowler.

GPB News said that Fulton County Elections Board Director Rick Barron told elections board members during a meeting on Thursday, June 17, “that staff spent more than 200 hours this week locating the forms to counter the claims of ‘missing’ forms.”

Meanwhile, Fulton County has not provided the additional transfer forms to The Star News that they have located and supplied to GPB News.

The County has yet to provide documentation supporting the public media reporter’s comments to the Georgia Star, even though the Star has asked for this data for months. They must have to ‘find’ them first.

Maybe the miracle is not manufactured yet.

Trump introduced Title 42 to stop the influx of COVID from the southern border.

The CDC and physicians working with the Department of Homeland Security have also opposed it being used as a public health order.

AZ Audit Reviewing Thousands of Ballots Where Machines Did Not Detect Vote for President, Audit Liaison Says

Ken Bennett, Senate liaison to the Maricopa County, Arizona, election audit, stated on Friday there are more than 33,000 ballots from November’s election where voters made no selection for president, or at least no votes that were detected by the voting machines.

“There were over 33,000 undervotes,” Bennett told The Western Journal. “There may be, you know, a certain number of people that didn’t want to vote for [Democrat Joe] Biden or [Republican Donald] Trump or [Libertarian Jo] Jorgensen or anyone else, so they may, in fact, be undervotes.”

“But if someone circled their oval or made a check next to it or did something other than get pixels of blackness inside the oval, almost one percent of the 3.4 million people that voted in Arizona, the machines did not record any vote for president,” he added.

Bennett, who served as Arizona’s secretary of state from 2009 to 2015 after a stint as the state’s senate president, said the hand count of all Maricopa County’s 2.1 million ballots, which was completed this week, included reviewing the undervote ballots.

“If we find some people that circled their oval or made a checkmark next to it, not every one of those is probably going to be for Trump or not every one is going to be for Biden. So will it make a difference in the outcome? Maybe, maybe not.”

According to the Maricopa County recorder’s office, the number of undervotes in November’s election was 8,475 within its jurisdiction.

Maricopa County, which encompasses the Phoenix metropolitan area, makes up over 60 percent of the state’s population, but apparently only accounted for about 25 percent of the over 33,000 undervote ballots.

Bennett noted just how narrow Biden’s win over Trump was in Arizona: Just 0.3 percent, or approximately 10,500 votes, made the difference.

Maricopa County was the only county in the state to flip from red to blue from 2016 to 2020.

Northern Thailand Police Seize Bt 30 Million in Assets from Drug Networks

Police in northern Thailand have taken down 3 major drug networks in separate raids confiscating drug assets totaling 30.5 million baht.

Pol Col Sarawut Khonyai, said the raids were conducted in Tak, Phitsanulok and Sukhothai provinces starting on Monday. They were part of the policy to suppress drug networks during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The first raid was in Tak it came after police expanded their investigation from previous drug cases in the past three years. One case in October 2019 saw the confiscation of 1.5 tons of crystal meth.

The other 2 cases took place in Bangkok, police arrested seized assets worth 100 million baht in December last year; and in Lat Phrao early this month police who also seized 100 kilogram of crystal meth and ketamine during the raid.

The the drug cases were linked to the chief of Phop Phra tambon administrative organization (TAO), identified as Wichit Arphonrungroj. Four warrants were issued for Mr Wichit’s arrest and other accomplices.

So far, police managed to arrest one suspect while Mr Wichit is still on the run.

In Phitsanulok rovince, police arrested 20 year-old Apirak Kaewphet, on the charge of selling narcotics drugs via a Facebook page called “Phee Laem Pilok”. Police found suspicious financial transactions involving Mr Apirak.

According to northern Thailand investigators, at least 20 million baht had been wired to one of his bank accounts. Mr Apirak was unable to explain the source of the money.

In Sukhothai, police confiscated two million baht worth of assets from Mr Piyanat Katchamat, a native of Phichit.

Meanwhile, A Mekong Navy Patrol unit seized 365 kilogram of crystal meth or “Ya ice” after a car chase.

Capt Rit Natwong said Navy inelegance received a tip that a huge shipment of drugs would be smuggled across the Mekong river from Laos.

Shortly before midnight, the Navy patrol unit spotted a black Chevrolet SUV heading for Nakhon Phanom from Mukdahan province.

At Ban Don Sawan in That Phanom district, the Navy patrol signaled the Chevrolet SUV to stop, however the driver sped away, prompting officers to give chase and open fire at the SUV’s rear tires.

Capt Rit Natwong said the car veered off the road and ended up ramming into a tree. The driver fled under the cover of darkness.

Upon a search of the SUV Navy patrol officers found 12 sacks containing packs of crystal meth weighing a total of 365 kilograms. Navy patrol officers seized the SUV and drugs while police forensics team inspected the SUV for fingerprints and DNA.

‘Fraud’: Attorney claims 2020 voting systems were remotely accessed, election subverted

‘We were told there was no internet connection. We were told there was no remote access. We were told this was human error. All lies,’ Matthew DePerno claimed.

An attorney who alleged voter fraud after tabulation “errors” in Michigan’s Antrim County originally led to incorrect results in the 2020 presidential election now says evidence shows the voting machines were remotely accessed to perpetrate fraud; evidence which, he says, ought to decertify the results of the election.

“We have been lied to,” said Michigan attorney Matthew DePerno in a tweet June 9. “The Antrim County election management system (EMS) was REMOTELY and successfully logged into anonymously on 11/05/2020 at 5:55 PM and again on 11/17/2020 at 5:16 PM.”

“We were told there was no internet connection. We were told there was no remote access. We were told this was human error. All lies,” DePerno concluded. “This is fraud. This decertifies the Antrim County election.”

Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson had admitted that Antrim County “initially released incorrect unofficial election results,” but said the errors “were quickly caught and corrected and determined to have been caused by human error when the County Clerk made an update to some, but not all, of the county’s vote tabulation machines.”

Representing his client Bill Bailey, Michigan attorney Matthew DePerno filed a lawsuit against the county last year asking to conduct an audit of the election results. Antrim County had already been a focus of national attention after it released original election results indicating that Joe Biden had won, but later correcting the reports to show that the county actually went to Donald Trump.

DePerno’s lawsuit, initiated in response to a finding of damaged ballots in a close recount, led to a report published by Texas-based Allied Security Operations Group, which conducted a now famous (and famously controversial) audit concluding “that the Dominion Voting System is intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results.”

On June 9, DePerno posted a series of tweets claiming the evidence showed that Antrim County’s Election Management System (EMS) had been remotely logged onto by an anonymous user with privileged access once on the evening of November 5 and again on November 17, 2020.

“Those dates are significant because they correspond directly to the dates the county and [Secretary of State] were trying to correct the intentional computer problems that subverted the election,” DePerno explained, adding that the log-ons “appear to have escalated privileges,” and emphasizing that the access was obtained “remotely.”

“In an accredited system, an anonymous user should not be authorized by the accreditation authority, but would instead be required to enter a specific user name and password to utilize the system,” DePerno added.

But DePerno has faced pushback for his claims, and his legal actions have been unsuccessful so far. On May 18 of this year an Antrim County Circuit Court judge dismissed DePerno’s lawsuit, which was the last of many Michigan lawsuits having to do with fraud in the 2020 election.

Fort Bliss Soldier Gets 18 Years in Sexual Assault of Asia Graham, 2 Other Women

A Fort Bliss, Texas, soldier on Friday was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison and slapped with a dishonorable discharge after being found guilty of sexually assaulting multiple women, one of whom later died from a drug overdose.

Pfc. Christian Alvarado was convicted of raping Pfc. Asia Graham on Dec. 30, 2019, while she was unconscious. One year later, on New Year's Eve, she was found dead in a barracks room. Investigators say the cause of death was an "accidental mixed drug" consisting of fentanyl and multiple synthetic cannabinoids, according to a statement from Fort Bliss.

Alvarado was also convicted of two other attacks: a rape in May 2020 against a victim who was too intoxicated to consent and an assault in August that included penetrating a victim with his fingers and choking them, according to his charge sheet. It is unclear whether those attacks were on different women; the names were redacted from court records.

Five women reported they had been assaulted by Alvarado, according to reporting from El Paso radio station KTEP. One woman did not participate in the court-martial, and charges related to her claims were dismissed. Witnesses included Alvarado's ex-girlfriend, who testified that he tackled her during an argument and lifted her off the ground by her ponytail.

Alvarado was also found guilty of one count of lying to investigators when he said he and Graham had consensual sex. According to his charge sheet, "the statement was totally false." He also faces separate charges on the unlawful discharge of a firearm from March 2020, according to reporting from the El Paso Times.

White House announces allocation plan for 55M more global vaccine doses

The White House on Monday announced where the U.S. would send 55 million additional COVID-19 vaccine doses allocated for other countries.

The Biden administration had already committed these doses as part of a pledge to allocate 80 million by the end of June, and an initial 25 million doses, announced earlier this month, have "begun shipping," the White House said.

Officials gave more details Monday on where the remaining 55 million doses would be headed and the timeline for their shipment.

The White House had previously said it would "send" 80 million doses by the end of June, but on Monday it said it would "allocate," but not necessarily have the shipments on their way by that time. Asked about the delay, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said logistical hurdles, not the supply of doses, is at issue.

"What we've found to be the biggest challenge is not actually the supply, we have plenty of doses to share with the world, but this is a Herculean logistical challenge and we've seen that as we've begun to implement," Psaki said, pointing to issues of sharing "safety and regulatory information," and ensuring proper storage and temperature requirements.

About 41 million will be shared through COVAX, the World Health Organization-backed program to equitably distribute doses worldwide. About 14 million of those will go to Latin America and the Caribbean. About 16 million will go to Asia, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, Cambodia and the Pacific Islands.

About 10 million will go to Africa, for countries "selected in coordination with the African Union."

Another 14 million doses will be shared outside of COVAX, with "regional priorities and other recipients." Those countries include Colombia, Argentina, Haiti, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

The White House cautioned that the shipments of vaccine doses "will take time," and said that while the doses are allocated by the end of June, they will not necessarily ship by then.

"The specific vaccines and amounts will be determined and shared as the administration works through the logistical, regulatory and other parameters particular to each region and country," the White House said in Monday's announcement.

The Health Ministry is working on a series of measures to curb COVID-19 infections linked to international arrivals, given fears that the extra-contagious Delta variant could spread in Israel.

Ministry officials on Monday strongly recommended that 12- to 15-year-olds get vaccinated against COVID as soon as possible. The vaccine has been available to that age group for several weeks, but until now the ministry stopped short of recommending teens receive the shot. Health Ministry Director General Chezi Levi ordered Israel’s health maintenance organizations to prepare for a ramped-up vaccination drive among teenagers.

Levi told Channel 12 on Monday evening that about 20,000 12- to 15-year-olds have already been vaccinated, and the Health Ministry will accelerate its efforts in the coming days.

“We will call people to come, we will explain to them, we will recommend they get it and reassure them the vaccine is safe,” he said, noting that half of the new cases in Israel in recent days are among under children under the age of 16.

According to Health Ministry data publicized by Channel 12 on Monday, 70 percent of new COVID cases in Israel are traced to the Delta variant, which originated in India and is believed to be the most contagious form of the virus so far.

Dark Money Groups Fund Liberal Push To Pass Infrastructure Without Republicans

As bipartisan negotiations continue, some Dems vow to 'move on' from GOP talks

A trove of dark money is behind a liberal campaign to push President Joe Biden to abandon negotiations with Republicans and pass a sweeping infrastructure package filled with partisan priorities.

Two liberal advocacy groups that spearheaded a June letter calling on Biden to sidestep Republicans and secure a "big, bold infrastructure bill" are backed heavily by dark money. One of the letter's organizers, Invest in America Action, is part of an umbrella organization sponsored by the Hopewell Fund, a dark money behemoth that raked in $84.2 million in anonymous contributions for left-wing causes in 2019.

Real Recovery Now!—a coalition of progressive organizations designed to urge Biden to invest big in alternative energy—also organized the letter and has ties to dark money. Five of the campaign's members have combined to receive $8.7 million from funds managed by Arabella Advisors, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm at the center of a massive dark money network.

The de facto lobbying effort shows how groups that spent millions of dollars to oust former president Donald Trump are now pivoting to sway Biden's agenda. Real Recovery Now! launched in March with a $10 million ad campaign praising the president for his coronavirus spending bill. But as the administration moved forward with bipartisan infrastructure talks, the liberal coalition shifted to twist Biden's arm to assure "investments in clean energy jobs."

"A big, bold infrastructure bill that will create jobs and deliver for working families can't wait any longer—and congressional Democrats must use the reconciliation process to pass it," the letter states.

The political advising firm tasked with leading Real Recovery Now!'s ad campaigns, Precision Strategies, has also done lucrative work for dark money groups. The firm—which Biden's campaign manager and deputy chief of staff Jen O'Malley Dillon founded in 2013—took more than $1.2 million from the Sixteen Thirty Fund in 2019.

Both the Hopewell Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund are part of Arabella's vast dark money network, which raised $715 million to boost liberals in 2019. The setup allows Arabella-backed groups to solicit unlimited contributions from wealthy donors and funnel them to outside groups, some of which are "fiscal sponsors" that are not required to file tax forms with the IRS. The Sixteen Thirty Fund, for example, poured $60 million into Democratic committees in the 2020 cycle.

Invest in America Action and Real Recovery Now! did not return requests for comment.

Real Recovery Now!'s coalition includes the American Progress Action Fund, Service Employees International Union, and the Working Families Party, among other members.

Former President Obama's ethics chief ripped into President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, for selling his art at prices ranging up to half a million dollars to anonymous buyers.

Walter Shaub, the former Office of Government Ethics director under Obama, said that the lucrative arrangement has a "shameful and grifty feeling to it."

"The notion of a president's son capitalizing on that relationship by selling art at obviously inflated prices and keeping the public in the dark about who's funneling money to him has a shameful and grifty feel to it," Shaub told Fox News on Monday.

Shaub also warned that the anonymity granted to Hunter's clients could allow "influence-seekers" to funnel money to the Biden family.

"Just as hotel charges and real estate purchases created a risk of unknown parties funneling money to the Trump family for potentially unsavory purposes, Hunter Biden's grotesquely inflated art prices create a similar risk of influence-seekers funneling money to the Biden family," Shaub said.

Shaub said he thinks that Biden and his art dealer, Georges Berges, "should disclose the identity of the purchasers" so the public can see if the buyers try to "gain access to [the] government."

He also said that the "public should not have to take it on blind faith that government officials will behave" regardless if "any attempt to curry favor or buy influence is likely to succeed."

"But I also think it's ridiculous that Hunter Biden is even going forward with this sale as a first-time artist," Shaub continued. "He can't possibly think anyone is paying him based on the quality of the art. This smells like an attempt to cash in on a family connection to the White House."

"At a minimum, the president should be asking his son not to go through with this auction," Shaub added.

The president's son came under fire last week after it was reported that Berges would be selling his artwork for between $75,000 and $500,000, depending on the size and scope of the collage artwork.

China hacking and penetration of critical U.S. infrastructure systems worse than previous thought

With all of the hacking Russia and China are doing of American systems, we can only hope that American hackers are doing as much or more infiltration and damage to their systems.

With that in mind, a report published this week found that a penetration into critical U.S. systems by state-sponsored hackers in China was a lot worse than previously believed.

“A cyberespionage campaign blamed on China was more sweeping than previously known, with suspected state-backed hackers exploiting a device meant to boost internet security to penetrate the computers of critical U.S. entities,” The Associated Press reports.

“The hack of Pulse Connect Secure networking devices came to light in April, but its scope is only now starting to become clear. The Associated Press has learned that the hackers targeted telecommunications giant Verizon and the country’s largest water agency. News broke earlier this month that the New York City subway system, the country’s largest, was also breached,” the AP added.

There are dozens of other “high-value” targets that have yet to be identified publicly as part of the Pulse Secure breach, which is utilized by scores of countries and companies to obtain remote secure access (or not so secure) to their online networks.

It’s also not yet clear what sensitive information may have been compromised by the hacks, but it’s safe to bet that if Chinese espionage got into these systems, they didn’t leave empty-handed (because the point of a hack is to find and take data). Complicating the problem is the fact that very often, it will take months to figure out just how extensive a hack was, if cyber security experts are ever able to find out. And even if nothing of value was stolen, the fact that the hackers managed to breach critical organizations and systems that would be useful to China is bad enough.

“The threat actors were able to get access to some really high-profile organizations, some really well-protected ones,” Charles Carmakal, the chief technology officer of Mandiant, whose firm was the first to make the hacking campaign public in April, the AP reported.

The border restriction extension comes as about 45% of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and cases are declining in a majority of states. The Department of Homeland Security announced the travel restrictions on Twitter Sunday. In conjunction with its Canadian and Mexican counterparts (members of other ruling classes) originally closed the United States’ northern and southern borders to leisure travelers in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions have been extended on a monthly basis ever since and were previously extended to July 21.

The delta variant, first identified in India, still only accounts for six to 10 percent of cases in the United States, according to the rulers’ official numbers (which we know they lie about all the time). How much longer until they tell us we are at 25% or 50% or 90% in order to try to get more people to comply with this gene therapy vaccine.
