With all due respect anon, citing the "Runaway Convention" tells me that you are not educated on this subject. I would suggest going to the CoS's website. I would also highly suggest reading "The Liberty Amendments" by Mark Levin. A Runaway Convention would literally be impossible. Everything to be either amended or added, would all be agreed upon by all of the state delegations before the gavel even dropped. No concensus? No convention. It's that simple.

But, I do agree with you about current laws and the Constitution itself having the necessary foundation to deal with just about every issue this nation faces. People of virtue are the biggest prerequisite. Very few of those. The States legislatures are the closest to the people and the second way provided in Article V provides for the "States" to call for a convention. Federal government is forced to the sidelines. No Constitutional authority to direct, ratify or interfear in the process.
