A Republican-controlled Michigan state Senate committee published a report Wednesday affirming that there was no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election and further, it's calling on the state attorney general to consider investigating some people who have pushed false claims about the election "to raise money or publicity for their own ends."

The report, released Wednesday morning, came after the Michigan Senate Oversight Committee had spent months reviewing the 2020 presidential election in Michigan. It was based on 28 hours of testimony from almost 90 people and an examination of thousands of pages of documents.

The antivirus software entrepreneur John McAfee has been found dead in his cell in Spain, hours after the country’s national court approved his extradition to the United States, where he waas wanted on tax-related criminal charges that carry a prison sentence of up to 30 years.

Catalan’s regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra, confirmed a report in El País that McAfee, 75, had been found dead in the Brians 2 prison near Barcelona, late on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Catalan justice department said that prison officers and medics had tried to save the life of a 75-year-old man but had been unsuccessful. After attempts to save him failed, he was pronounced dead.

“Judicial staff have been dispatched to the prison and are investigating the causes of death,” the statement said, adding: “Everything points to death by suicide.

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS (CNA) – Video game retailer GameStop said on Tuesday it raised about USD1.13 billion in an offering of five million shares, cashing in on a Reddit-driven surge in its stock price this year.

GameStop, whose shares are up more than 960 per cent this year, has become one of the hottest and most visible “meme stocks” followed on social media after its meteoric rise in a Reddit-driven retail short squeeze that caught Wall Street off guard in January. The company will use the net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes as well as for investing in growth initiatives, the company said.

GameStop is trying to pivot to e-commerce and recently named a chief executive and a finance head to steer it through the transition.

Shares of the company were up 9.3 per cent in pre-market trading on Tuesday.

Shortly after reports that John McAfee, the British-American antivirus computer programmer, died by a likely suicide while in a Spanish jail, Twitter users have unearthed McAfee's 2020 tweet saying, "Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine."

The mention of Epstein refers to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire who was found dead and hanging in his New York prison cell. Some believe that Epstein was strangled to death and then hung rather than dying by suicide.

The Spanish High Court had authorized McAfee's extradition to the U.S. to face tax evasion charges, Reuters reported.
