Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sent a message of congratulations to Cindy McCain, the widow of deceased Sen. John McCain, celebrating nomination from Joe Biden to represent the United States in the United Nations.

“Congratulations to Cindy McCain for being nominated by President Biden to serve as U.S. Representative to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture,” wrote Graham on Twitter. “Cindy is incredibly well-qualified, having traveled the world dealing with human trafficking and food security issues.” In a second tweet, Graham added, “I am confident Cindy will be a great partner to Governor David Beasley, who is in charge of the World Food Programme. She will be a great ambassador for this important cause, and I look forward to her confirmation.”

Graham’s tweets were in response to McCain’s announcement of her nomination. She wrote, “I am deeply honored and I look forward to the work ahead,” while sharing a link to the Biden White House’s recent list of 17 nominations. Of the nomination, Biden’s White House noted that McCain serves on a number of boards and councils, including the Human Trafficking Council, the Arizona Human Trafficking Council, and the Phoenix Mayor’s Human Trafficking Task Force.

Prior to his purported support of President Donald Trump and his agenda, Graham was a fierce defender and ally of the deceased John McCain, and often partnered with the longtime U.S. Senator from Arizona to push legislation that appeased establishment interests in the Republican Party. In one of his final broadcasts, conservative talk radio legend and icon Rush Limbaugh attempted to explain to his listeners that Graham never tried to help President Trump enact his America First agenda, but instead Graham attempted to turn the 45th President into a “Washingtonian.” National File reported, “What Lindsey Graham means is he tried to get Trump to tone it down. He tried to get Trump to behave according to Washington norms,” said Limbaugh. “He tried to rein Trump in and get Trump to behave more like a Washingtonian, but he just couldn’t do it. FSU Claims Email Demanding Students Get Vaxxed Sent ‘In Error’ After Sabatini Threatens To ‘Put Them In Their Place’

"Leftist universities and colleges have no respect for the medical freedom or privacy of their students," said Rep. Sabatini

Florida State University has claimed that an attempt to mandate students from one department in the College of Music to take the COVID vaccine was on accident, after State Representative Anthony Sabatini slammed them in an open letter.

Last month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a tough anti-vaccine passport bill into law. The legislation, along with banning any business or government entity from requiring proof of being vaccinated for COVID-19, also stops any educational institution, including schools and universities, from providing any documentation certifying their COVID-19 vaccination status for either attendance or enrollment. DeSantis had also previously instituted an executive order banning government entities from creating such a passport, and ensuring any business that did not comply would not be eligible for government grants.

However, the legislation, which will come into effect on July 1st, had seemingly been violated by Florida State University. In an open letter to DeSantis and FSU President John Thrasher, Florida State Representative and congressional candidate Anthony Sabatini alleged that the Music Therapy Department within FSU’s College of Music were forcing students to show proof of vaccination before the start of the Fall Semester in violation of the new law. “This requirement is unconscionable and illegal,” wrote Sabatini, adding that the mandate “goes against the letter and spirit of [the executive order and [the legislation].”

“This mandate at Florida State University must be eliminated immediately to avoid violating Florida law and to protect the privacy of our student,” Sabatini continued. “The medical freedom and privacy of Florida’s students must be protected. I ask that you please put an end to this illegal mandate,” he concluded. “Leftist universities and colleges have no respect for the medical freedom or privacy of their students,” said Sabatini, speaking exclusively to National File. “It’s time to put them in their place,” he added.

In the letter, Sabatini further noted that the new legislation imposes up to a $5,000 fine for each violation to be enforced by the Department of Health, meaning Florida State could be subject to serious financial penalties if they required some of their students to show proof of their vaccine status. However, in a statement to National File, FSU College of Music Dean Todd Queen said that the email demanding students proved vaccination was sent in error.

US Military Training Document Says Socialists Represent “Terrorist” Ideology

A Navy training document asks, “Anarchists, socialists and neo-nazis represent which terrorist ideological category?”

A navy counterterrorism training document obtained exclusively by The Intercept appears to conflate socialists with terrorists and lists the left-wing ideology alongside “neo-nazis.”

A section of the training document subtitled “Study Questions” includes the following: “Anarchists, socialists and neo-nazis represent which terrorist ideological category?”

The correct answer is “political terrorists,” a military source briefed on the training told me. The document, titled “Introduction to Terrorism/Terrorist Operations,” is part of a longer training manual recently disseminated by the Naval Education Training and Command’s Navy Tactical Training Center in conjunction with the Center for Security Forces. The training is designed for masters-at-arms, the Navy’s internal police, the military source said.

“It’s just ineffective training because whoever is directing the Navy anti-terror curriculum would rather vilify the left than actually protect anything,” said the military official, who is not authorized to speak publicly. “Despite the fact that the most prominent threat is domestic, right-wing terror.”

Both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have identified white supremacists as the deadliest terror threat to the United States. In October 2020, the Department of Homeland Security issued its first annual “Homeland Threat Assessment” report, stating that white supremacists were “exceptionally lethal” and “will remain the most persistent and lethal threat in the homeland.” In September, FBI Director Christopher Wray, in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, said that white supremacists “have been responsible for the most lethal attacks over the last decade” and that they comprise “the biggest chunk of our domestic terrorism portfolio.”

The “Training Guide / Assignment Sheet 2-1-2 / Introduction to Terrorism/Terrorist Operations” is a part of the approved curriculum for Anti-Terrorism Officer training courses. These courses have been delivered in the current format since 2019 but have existed in other forms with minor modifications since 2002. Each NETC course undergoes a formal course review every three years. This training is not connected with recent DOD or Navy Anti-Extremism Training and the course material is not meant to promote any opinion or judgment, and represents no policy statement.

Asked about the debate over how to respond to the domestic terror threat, Kevin Kline, a former FBI assistant special agent-in-charge at the bureau’s New Haven field office, agreed that the white supremacist threat was serious but warned that any response must respect constitutionally protected activity like speech. “No matter what we do in responding to the domestic terrorism problem, the constitution cannot be a casualty,” Kline said.

While the right has been vocal with its concerns about being unfairly targeted for political opinions, media coverage of the Biden administration’s focus on domestic extremism has paid considerably less attention to what it might mean for movements on the left, including Black Lives Matter, antifa (short for anti-fascists), and the environmental movement. In fact, internal FBI documents I reported on in 2019 specifically list anarchists and environmental extremists among its counterterrorism priorities.

Wray testified last year to Congress that antifa is an ideology rather than an organized group — a widely reported rebuttal of claims by President Donald Trump that antifa was a terrorist organization. In the same testimony, Wray also stressed that the bureau was pursuing “any number of properly predicated investigations into what we would describe as violent anarchist extremists.” And while he rebutted baseless claims that antifa had instigated the January 6 assault on the Capitol, Wray also said, “That doesn’t mean we’re not looking and we’ll continue to look.”

JP Morgan Warns US Employees It May Require Them To Get Vaccinated

Morgan Stanley surprised many on Wall Street - including its employees, clients and rivals - when the FT reported earlier this week that the company planned to require all employees and clients to be fully vaccinated before they can enter any of the firm's New York offices.

Despite the controversy that surrounded the decision, it looks like some of Morgan Stanley's biggest rivals are weighing whether to impose similarly strict vaccination requirements (now that the federal government is giving employers the "green light" to "incentivize" workers to get the vaccine).

JPM, America's largest bank by assets, has ordered workers to fill out a questionnaire on their vaccination status by the end of this month, according to a memo from CEO Jamie Dimon and other members of the operating committee that was sent to staff on Wednesday. Employees who don’t respond to the questionnaire will be nagged by their managers until they do, according to Bloomberg.

“We need you to enter this information so that we can properly prepare for and manage returning to the office,” the executives said in the memo. “In the future, we may mandate that all employees receive a Covid-19 vaccination consistent with legal requirements and medical or religious accommodations.”

Goldman Throws Up Over Biden's Infra Deal: It's Too Small, It Probably Won't Pass And We Have No Idea Who Will Pay For It

With prospects before Biden's infrastructure deal dimming by the day, and hopes of a budget-busting, multi-trillion package having collapsed long ago amid growing growing splinters within the Democratic party, the president was delighted to announce today that "he had a deal" even if details were seriously lacking.

There's a reason for that. According to a snap post-mortem published by Goldman's chief political economist Alec Philips, there was some good news, i.e., that the spending it includes "already looked very likely to become law." The problem is everything else, namely that "the bipartisan deal omits items that we believe every Democrat will want to pass, like an extension of the expanded child tax credit, so we believe the odds of a reconciliation bill passing are still fairly high."

And last but not least, is Goldman's hilarious admission that "it is not clear how this deal would be paid for, or whether it would be." Some thoughts from Philips:

Negotiators have emphasized better enforcement of existing tax laws, though recent estimates from non-partisan scorekeepers suggest this would offset at most a fraction of the new spending. Redirecting unspent COVID-relief funds also had been under consideration; this would imply that the total spending boost from the deal would be smaller than the advertised figure. While lawmakers have presented the deal as being “paid for” in full, this might not be the case when using traditional congressional budget scorekeeping methods.

EU approves report on ‘reproductive health,’ presents abortion as human right

The report qualifies a doctor’s objection to abortion ‘based on personal beliefs’ about the unborn as ‘the denial of medical care.’

A March 25 report “on the situation of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the EU [European Union], in the frame of women’s health” has received the approval of the European Parliament, thereby adopting the report’s framing of abortion as an “essential health service” and a “human right” in a vote Thursday.

The “reproductive health” document, known as the Matić report from the name of its sponsor in the European Parliament, Croatian MEP Predrag Fred Matić, also qualifies a doctor’s objection to abortion “based on personal beliefs” about the unborn as “the denial of medical care.”

During a plenary session of the European Parliament, the legislative body of the EU, lawmakers voted in favor of the pro-abortion report, 378-255, with 42 abstentions. A press statement released by the Parliament after the vote declared that “sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) [are] a fundamental pillar of women’s rights and gender equality that cannot in any way be watered down or withdrawn.” Accordingly, the Parliament urged EU member states “to ensure women are offered high quality, comprehensive and accessible SRHR, and to remove all barriers impeding them from using these services.”

The Parliament stressed that these services include “[a]ccess to abortion, contraception and sexuality education,” informing those EU countries with “highly restrictive laws prohibiting abortion [like Poland]” that they now violate a woman’s “human rights.” The report now requires “all member states to ensure universal access” to what the EU calls “safe and legal abortion, and guarantee that abortion on request is legal in early pregnancy, and beyond if the pregnant person’s health is in danger.”

Not satisfied with expanding the definition of abortion to become a human right, the report also diminishes conscience rights, framing objections to abortion as the denial of “care” and “a form of gender-based violence.” “MEPs regret that some member states allow medical practitioners, and even entire medical institutions, refuse the provision of health services because of a so-called conscience clause,” the Parliament’s statement reads. “This leads to the denial of abortion care on the grounds of religion or conscience and puts women’s lives in danger.”

MEPs also emphasized an apparent need to provide sexual education to “primary and secondary school children,” claiming that such instruction “can significantly contribute to reducing sexual violence and harassment.”

Matić commented on the success of the vote, saying that it “marks a new era in the European Union and the first real resistance to a regressive agenda that has trampled on women’s rights in Europe for years.”

Before the Matić report was approved, two alternative proposals were put to the chamber in a last ditch attempt to block the report, German Catholic newspaper Die Tagespost reported. The Christian Democratic EPP parliamentary group and the euroskeptic ECR group both had their attempts thwarted earlier in the day, with the respective proposals voted out by 373-288 and 402-267.

The dossier includes diary notes taken by the woman, who says the alleged offence occurred in her room at the University of Sydney Women's College, after a formal dinner for the World Universities' Debating Championships.

Mr Porter has repeatedly and strenuously denied the allegation.

In March, New South Wales Police said there was insufficient admissible evidence to proceed with an investigation in the matter, and Prime Minister Scott Morrison has repeatedly rebuffed calls for an independent inquiry.

Earlier this year, the ABC's Four Corners reported on the dossier, saying it contained a historical allegation of rape against a serving Cabinet minister and had been sent to several federal politicians including Mr Morrison.

The report did not name Mr Porter, but his legal team claim he was easily identifiable.

He subsequently came forward as the minister in question and launched defamation action against the ABC.

In May, the parties settled the case and agreed to not pursue the matter any further.

More than a dozen other documents tendered

The dossier and more than a dozen other documents have been tendered as part of a court case brought against high-profile silk Sue Chrysanthou, SC by a friend of the woman, Jo Dyer.

Ms Dyer claimed Ms Chrysanthou, Mr Porter's barrister, had a conflict of interest and should be removed from the now-settled defamation case against the ABC.

China lodges complaint against Australia at World Trade Organization

China has lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO), accusing Australia of anti-competitive behaviour against its exports of railway wheels, stainless-steel sinks and wind towers.

Trade Minister Dan Tehan confirmed he was informed on Thursday evening of Beijing's decision to challenge the anti-dumping duties applied to Chinese goods.

He said Australia would defend its position.

"Obviously China has the right to take this action, but we will vigorously defend the duties that we have put in place," he said.

The complaint comes just days after Australia took similar action against China over large tariffs being slapped on Australian wine.

Mr Tehan would not speculate on whether China's actions were an act of retaliation, but he pointed out that some of the anti-dumping tariffs being targeted by China were introduced more than five years ago.

"Two of the measures which were put in place were put in place in 2014 and 2015, with regards to wind towers and stainless-steel sinks … the other measure was put in place in 2019, and that was the railway wheels," he said.

Israel to reinstate indoor mask mandate as COVID-19 cases increase

The nation of Israel will reinstate its indoor mask mandate next week, once again requiring people to wear coverings over their mouths and noses to prevent infections in an effort to slow the viral spread as COVID-19 cases increase.

Israel's coronavirus czar Nachman Ash told reporters Thursday that 169 new cases were recorded, the highest daily total in months for a country with one of the highest inoculation rates in the world. He recommended that Israeli citizens avoid flights abroad, especially if they have not yet been vaccinated.

"I call on the public to consider whether traveling abroad is essential. It is highly advisable to avoid non-essential travel abroad," he said. "This is not the right time to fly with children who are not vaccinated."

Ash also urged anyone who has come into contact with a COVID-19 positive person to get tested immediately, even if they have been vaccinated, and advised that Israelis obey quarantine restrictions after travel.

"If a child has been abroad and arrives at school the next day, this is wrong. And everyone should say that to him and to his parents," he said.

When pressed by reporters, Ash could not explain why COVID-19 cases were rising suddenly. He admitted that it is impossible to stop new coronavirus variants from entering the country without closing the borders completely, which the government is reluctant to do.

The Israeli Health Ministry is not yet recommending a return to restrictions on public gatherings, Ash said.

According to the Times of Israel, the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is believed to be responsible for 70% of the new cases recorded in Israel in the past few weeks. The number of new cases reported has exceeded 100 for four days in a row this week.

Previously, Israel was celebrated as a successful model for defeating the coronavirus with widespread vaccinations and returning to the pre-pandemic normal. The country boasts a 57% full vaccination rate for its entire population.

The first indoor mask mandate ended June 15 as various coronavirus restrictions were lifted because people were presumably inoculated from the COVID-19 disease.

The "Delta variant" is a mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that was discovered in India and has come to dominate international headlines because of concerns it is a more transmissible version of the virus. There is data that suggests, however, that the Delta variant has a lower case-fatality rate than other versions of the virus.

The forensic report will come out in about 30 days or more. The Senate will decide what action must be taken based on the forensic analysis. Attorney General Mark Brnovich will need to decide if a criminal investigation is necessary.

As The National Pulse revealed in April, Abrams serves on the board of the Center for American Progress (CAP), which has “collaborated extensively” with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

On Wednesday, Sen. Jon the Unready was given the gavel in the Senate Judiciary Committee during Judge Gustavo Gelpí’s nomination hearing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Sounds like a good opportunity for the 34-year-old Ossoff to get his feet wet.

Then, Hawaii Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono, one of the upper chamber’s dafter members, made some ignorant comments about judicial originalism, GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas pointed out how ignorant they were, Hirono accused Cruz of “mansplaining,” Cruz forced Hirono to say she didn’t actually mean what she’d said a few minutes earlier, and Ossoff and his gavel were left to moderate this back-and-forth with all the effectiveness of a pro-wrestling referee.

The kerfuffle was put into motion when Hirono noted that “there were a lot of questions asked of this nominee relating to originalism,” the judicial philosophy — favored by conservatives — that the Constitution should be strictly interpreted as written.

“The way I see it, this was an effort to get Judge Gelpí to acknowledge originalism as the only way to do either constitutional or statutory interpretation,” Hirono said.

“If originalism were applied, I think that Obergefell [v. Hodges], for example, that protects same-sex marriage, would not have been decided in that way. … If originalism were applied, I would say that really puts into jeopardy the decision in Roe v. Wade, which protects the woman’s right to choose,” she said. “So all of this effort to try to box this nominee in is seen for what it is, as far as I’m concerned.”

Cruz pointed out this wasn’t an argument against originalism, just an argument that “it would prevent outcomes that she supports.”

“It would prevent outcomes in cases like Obergefell and Roe v. Wade — and because she supports those outcomes, she doesn’t want judges who will follow the original understanding of the Constitution.”

He asked Gelpí whether he didn’t intend to follow the original intent of the Constitution when he ruled, which is what Hirono implied. This is when Ossoff first said Cruz’s time had expired, but he allowed Gelpí to answer; the judge said he’d apply “originalism in the cases where it is appropriate.”
