In some ways they were the only agency he had direct control of and he needed their intelligence agencies, Marines and NG. Remember there was a BIG push years ago. to do away with the marines by military leaders. I suspect that they wanted to get rid of the only force in the military that would obey tye President. But Trump tricked them and created the “Space Force”

Trump knew the military would always commence forever wars. Therefore he needed them to show their real selves, “power hungry, money loving traitors that would send innocent man to war to be killed”.
