That being said, that's just the beginning. It takes him like 15 paragraphs to get to the meat. You have to stick through to the end to understand that he understands that to not be the case, as it's absurd. Thus he must understand what Christ was saying when He said it, for Christ would say nothing absurd.

I hope you are enjoying it and will continue to absorb what Augustine is preaching.
