The (First) American Revolution was a war to escape Lex Mercatoria and the BAR. The (Original) 13th Amendment had been ratified by a number of States and the Capitol was burned down by the British in hopes of getting rid of the evidence.
The Founding Fathers envisioned a legal system of non-BAR judges, and a populace sufficiently educated about the law and their rights, that no middlemen would be needed.
